  1. Just in case some people weren't aware of this, here goes: Description (with some redacted notes) Developed as a J.V. Stalin Academy of the WPRA Mechanization and Motorization Program project totally not a napkin design. According to numerous sources that nobody made up, it started in 1949 so was silly putty. The vehicle had a forward placed engine bay (frontal engine fires anyone?), and the fighting compartment in the back, something unseen in a Soviet tank. The tank was canceled during the project phase aka never physically built. Tier VIII USSR premium Medium Tank Health: 1350 Engine power: 400 HP Weight: 28 t Max. weight: 30 t Power-to-weight: 14,29 HP/t Max. speed forward/backwards: 50/-20 km/h Traverse speed: 46,94 °/s Turret traverse speed: 36,5 °/s Terrain resistance: 0,671 / 0,767 / 1,534 View range: 370 m Signal range: 730 m Crew: 4 Hull armor: 100 / 45 / 45 Turret armor: 210 / 180 / 45 Gun: 122 mm D-25TS Damage: 390 / 390 / 530 Penetration: 212 / 248 / 61 Fire rate: 4,47 DPM: 1 743 Reload speed: 13,42 s Accuracy: 0,316 Aim time: 2,21 s Gun depression/elevation: -6 / +17 The obvious comparison is the Obj 416, it's a tad bigger but has a fully traversable turret with -6 degrees gun depression all around. The STG sucks out on the DPM department though, but that's not too surprising or a bad thing necessarily considering its playstyle. It should feel familiar to players used to tanks like the A-44, Obj 416 and Obj 430 II. But unlike those tanks, the STG packs a 122mm gun, and since preferential MM is dead it doesn't suffer penetration (212mm AP pen). The gun handling is also decent, and you can actually snipe with this tank in a pinch. Armor wise, the hull isn't that good, but its low profile nature plus your typical Russian turret makes the STG a decent (but not invulnerable) at hull down positions. Mobility isn't its standout feature, but being low profile you can bet it'll have decent concealment. Some may call it the baby Defender, and the comparisons are understandable. But unlike the Obj 252U, it isn't idiot-proof due to its poor hull armor, rear-mounted turret and low-ish DPM. It certainly isn't a Russian Chrysler, and that's definitely some good news. With the recent buffs to the T-44-100 and T-54 mod 1 making those somewhat viable/usable, to an extent, and tier 8 MM being a pain nowadays, I don't expect it to flood the game like the Defender did. Reasons to Buy: Don't own any tier 8 Soviet premium medium tank Familiar with rear mounted turret tanks Familiar with Russian 122mm gun bias Pixel tank collector Weird fetish fondness for Soviet tanks and Soviet patriotic artwork Willing to spend at least 44 USD/37 EURO not on food or other "necessities" Reasons NOT to Buy: Already own a tier 8 Soviet premium medium tank for training purposes Already own another tier 8 premium tank for credit farming purposes Don't like Soviet medium tanks Saving money for the Obj 277, Obj 278, Obj 279, or Obj 770 or whatever WG comes up with next
  2. Thoughts on the post 9.17.1 buff on the Centurion 7/1? The most significant change of course has been the top speed buff from 40 kph to 50 kph. And its a refreshing change of pace to not be outpaced by every other medium tank and lag behind some of the heavy tanks. Now I can afford to take more aggressive positions early on (the fact that you can contest the center hill on Mines (replay) within the first minute is a major change), have the option to change position and flank faster than before (prior to that i'd felt committed to whichever lane/flank I was in). The decent p/w of the tank with that speed makes it feel just that bit more reactive and allow it to cover distances faster (as you'll see at replay below) Another perk of being able to go up to 50 kph that most other faster tanks may take for granted is the end game. I've had recent games in the Centurion 7/1 were I could actually pursue and chase down enemy tanks that prior to the speed buff I would never have been able to do so (Example: http://wotreplays.com/site/3418507#siegfried_line-thomchen114-centurion_mk_7_1) Yes, the Centurion still is one of the slowest firing among the 105mm gunned tier IX medium tanks. The slight RoF increase isn't drastic, but from barely 2k to just under 2.2k base DPM is a welcome change. Now if they could just either buff the aim time/gun handling or the turret gun mantlet armor and this tank would be randy dandy (and actually competitive nowadays).
  3. Surprised no one started thread on this yet. So i'm sure everyone knows about the latest marathon mission for the T25 Pilot #1. The replays and reviews are also out. Seems like the verdict from the people who've played and reviewed this tank is that its a balanced tier 8 USA premium medium tank, compared to the M26 Pershing it has a better 90mm gun, mobility is good but with a bad engine, the overall armour is poor, the gun mantlet isn't the thickest nor the largest. IMO its a good but somewhat bland tier 8 medium tank. I'd have to agree with what Jingles mentioned about why the T25 Pilot is being introduced to the game. Most premium tanks introduced are pretty much similar to the non-premium versions with some minor differences that make them distinct and sometimes better than the original. The T25 Pilot seems to follow the German TD syndrome. But most importantly, at least, It's not a controversial premium tank. It's not like the last few premium tanks WG introduced recently to WoT PC like the Obj 252U/Defender, T26E5 (Patriot), AMX M4 49 (Liberte) and the Skorpion G that are blatantly P2W. And its practically being given away for free to people who play WoT fairly regularly. No salty tears at its announcement, but no celebrations either.
  4. what are the best positions for high tier mediums? i often feel like i get killed in my tier 10 meds because im not in the right spot at the right time.
  5. Oh boy, another premium. And this time, its another Sherman! But wait! This time, its actually historical unlike the Furry Fury! And it actually looks pretty neat. Daily Bounce TAP Tier VI Medium Tank Hit Points: 750 Hull Armour: 123 / 38 / 38 mm Turret Armour: 177 / 63 / 63 mm Shell Avg. Penetration: 128 / 177 / 38 mm Shell Avg. 6. Hey, so I've nearly hit 30 games in this tank and I have below 45% WR currently and I don't feel I can carry properly in this tank and a lot of the time I end up not doing as much as I could have. A similar thing happened to me when I had the AMX 30b and the E50 m to some extent but I was much worse at the game when I played both of those (and they both ended up with around 52% WR before I decided I couldn't play t10 mediums to save my life). I'd love for someone to chime in and help me suck less because I know I do. Below are the 29 games I've had so far, which I think all of them are in 9.17.1. If anyone wants to pick like 5 replays at random and go through them with me and help me fix what I did game by game, either here or even on discord if you want to do it real time that'd be much appreciated. Thanks. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u1g2id896qalfhc/AACY-HfzAxMgEM__K9NL2ABca?dl=0
  7. What upgrade path to follow? What extra gear would you install? What is the preferred playstyle? Quick summary of the tanks specifications: Mobility: abysmal 12 HP/t ratio, good terrain resistance values and top speed of 45 km/h Armor: frontal 75mm, sides and rear 35mm, huge flat areas Size and camo: it's gigantic, like fucking huge Gun: 155 pen and 135 damage, has 2000 DPM Gun handling: it has .36 acc, 2.1s aim time and -10 depression. Stock turret is bloody awful tho and it ruins all the stats, severely. So I'm going for this upgrade path: gun -> turret -> tracks -> engine -> radio. How big is that in game? By my rough estimate, if you take 2 IS-3 tanks and stack them on top of each other the Chi-To would still be bigger.
  8. (funny that it shows the 85mm gun that no one uses) I'm still at the T-34-1, and i'm almost about to get the 2nd skill to 100% before I move them up to the T-34-2. So what's to expect? How does it compare and rank with the other tier 8 mediums (i'm assuming not highly)
  9. Just something I did for fun, from a fun match from a previous patch.
  10. and I made a video out of it too!
  11. Yes, i've seen crazier better results where others have earned a fat ton more credits and EXP. But just bear with me. I'm just a blunicum. I'll see if I can start making weekly videos. I've got a couple more replays saved that I can see some potential with.
  12. He's at it again: Be honest who wasn't slightly influenced by Jingles and his poor opinion of the M3 Lee? He even made a contest out of it, inadvertently showing how well some people actually can do in it. Personally, I did enjoy the Lee. But that was back in 2014, and it still was quite decent then, and I suppose even now. Learning to not put the Lee in disadvantageous positions that just highlights its weakness is what causes all the rage by the scrubs. I sort of had a deja vu with it when the British tanks were introduced, and with it the M3 Grant. Which was just fine and I had fun using it, especially since there was a major difference with my skill levels then and now. Also noticed there was no thread that I could find about the Lee here. Fixed!
  13. So at my current rate I should soon get enough EXP on my AMX 13 90 to unlock my first tier 9 French MT. And I have yet to really decide which one I will go for first. I do plan to get both eventually, but that requires more grinding on the AMX 13 90 after the fact. Some of my assumption on the two choice of French tier 9 MTs Lorr 40t: I've heard some good stuff about, it but a lot of bad stuff about it as well. It's typically French with no armor, and is entirely reliant on its burst damage with the 6-clip 100mm SA47 and what mobility it possesses to get in and out. the tactics involved would be identical to the AMX 13 90, but on a bigger tank. before I went up the French LT line I had my misgivings since up till then I had little experience in autoloader armed tanks, and i'm still by no means a master of it, but i'm warming up to the playstyle AMX 30 this seems to be the most comfortable tank to play since it has the normal tier IX medium tank playstyle, something i'm quite familiar with in the Type 61, Centurion 7/1 and M46 Patton. but being fast like the Leo and faster firing than the Centurion 7/1, lower profile (presumably better camo?) than the Type 61, and ok gun handling. any thoughts/suggestions/advice?
  14. Hello Everyone, I haven't played much since 9.0 and just recently decided to get back into things. I generally like to just focus on one tank and play it all the time. (I like leveling up a crew.) In the past I've used mainly the T49, ELC AMX, and I was just getting back into the VK 2801. I love all these tanks because they've been able to carry a lot of team. (I mainly solo pub). Recent updates have taken away a lot of the advantages of these tanks though. It seems like every updated map takes away the great scouting spots. And the TD firing bonus hurt my play-style too. (though with a 4 skill crew, high octain fuel, and vents; the T49 also plays very scout like). I'm wondering what's the best tank to carry in now days? Should I be trying out some Mediums? I never liked playing Heavies or slow TD's, but is that the direction to look in terms of carrying? Very interested in hearing all your experiences! Cheers,
  15. So I've always played TD's and some arty but now starting to realize that I can't have any really effect on the tide of the battle in these tanks, and it is more important to spot enemies and secure locations etc. So I started some medium tank lines but boy are they hard to play. By sheer coincidence or horrible luck I've picked the fattest medium tanks that cannot be hidden (british line, FCM 40 t) and I know these are good tanks but what do I do when I can't hide behind a bush? I get trashed on frontline easily, even when I follow a heavy into battle they just aim for me, or I try to spot some enemies but they also spot me at the same time (cuz fat tank + no camo) and I get wrecked quickly afterwards.
  16. I have a Panther in my garage. Been there for awhile, but I don't take it out much. I need help playing this thing. I like it, I really do, I just can't buy a win in that tank to save my life. I love the RoF of the top gun, and it's accuracy. Damage is not all that great. My kill ratio in the Panther is about the lowest of all of my tanks. I can't seem to get much done in this vehicle, and was looking for suggestions. I have been in a few battles with Panthers on my team. In one case, the Panther on my team scored 11 kills, using the 75mm L/100. Otherwise, I have seen scores of 5+ for Panther players quite often. I'm lucky if I get one. Conversely, I play my VK3601 quite well, with either the 88mm or the Konisch. If I could translate that skill from the VK to the Panther, I would be happy. My playstyle is the support the front line, and snipe from medium to long range. However, in a few cases it seems like, as soon as I get myself situated, either enemy arty finds me, or an enemy heavy decides to take on an "anti-sniper" role, and I find myself on the defensive, and pretty much finished. Any help would be appreciated. I figured I would post this here, vs the regular WoT forums, because everyone here knows what they are talking about...
