  1. Hey everyone, long time lurker, and shit player. Recently, I came back to the game after about a year or so break and finally feel like I've got a grasp of it enough to help others. I've marked a few tier 10's and 9's as thats what really keeps me playing. This thread will be for high sessions or meme'y games. Probably will only post good games from 4k sessions or mark finals. As a start, here is a Skoda T50 session that I had the other day. Recently I three marked the TVP and figured I'd buy this back to also mark it. For as long as i play wot (2010...) the default key to lock you turret was RMB, this feature was massive OP and the true seperator between peasants and unicums, real heros lock their gun before they drive around a building or look around in general, while peasant didnt. I press more RMB as LMB, or rather pressED Since it seems WG removed this fucking function... Its by default turned of I cant find anywhere in settings the option to lock gun / turret Pressing X (lock hull) also doesnt do anything (yeah, it turns on the handbreak) Am i just not looking not good enough, or did WG really remove this? if yes, this is then really pissing me off to no end, up to the point of making wot next too unplayable... (and im not kidding, every meter i drive, i fix my gun so i can look around freely, between shooting i lock my gun often, when driving around a corner, and pre aming i lock my gun and so on and on....

  4. Hi Guys! Just wanted to congratulate myself on achieveing one of my goals in this game stat-wise, which is 2000wn8 before 10k battles. I set this goal when I had around 1300wn8 and 4k battles under my belt and now a couple years later I did it. Long time no see guys, So its been a while and hopefully not all of you have forgotten me ;_; but in the past few days ive gotten the urge to play tanks again so after a year and a half off i have returned. I've also decided to start streaming again while i shake off the rust and try to get to unicum. Currently in the first 30 games ive played i averaged 2k Wn8 so im not quite at the point i was before i quit but im still doing better than i thought i would. If you want to learn, ask for tips and watch someone make the transition from blue to purple come tune in! I'll usually do analysis of my game after the fact and try to explain what I did right and what i could of done better. Clearly I don’t avoid the hard hitting subjects and today is no exception. I want to address the most critical and core component of World of Tanks….yes of course I’m speaking of forum posts and in-game chat. If you know anything about Buddy Deeds, he always remains original. I implore you, if you do nothing else in your tanking careers, please remain original and avoid any and all gaming and tanking cliches in your forum posts and in game chat just like Buddy Deeds. I wouldn’t be caught dead repeating some overused gaming or tanking cliche. In short: Don’t be noobs. The current chat META consists of mostly mouth breathers and window lickers overusing and repeating the same old phrases and insults. If you are guilty of that , then RIP you fail poaster. You almost remind me of some sort of troll. You’ve lost at the internet and should uninstall. lawl. Plis. Buddy deeds is 2gud to use cliches to get his point across, and neither should you sh*tt*ers. I blame the Russian Bias and public players, which I like to call “pubbies”. I feel the only thing that could improve the situation is some statistical analysis introduced to WOT. There’s an obscure statistical technique called Win Eight. Buddy Deeds is no mathematician, but if all you pubbies focused purely on this stat to the point of exhaustion, this game may have a chance against the “other games who will not be mentioned” that Buddy Deeds is watching closely. I’ve spent several months relentlessly studying this formula, and quite frankly you pubbies play so poorly you remind me of tomatoes. And you star players I might even describe as elitist. Buddy Deeds is sorry, but someone had to say it. Consider this biting commentary fair warning before these thoughts become the norm. I don’t expect you noobs and pubbies to understand most of what I've written, as it's mostly new concepts, phrasing, and ideas, but believe me dat TRUTH is REAL.   13. What do you do when your team does things completely bassackwards from normal? Im talking like half the team going valley on lakeville, going north on karlia, pushing on the west side on cliff, pushing 1 line on fisherman's bay. I'm not talking the whole team does it but at least 7 or 8 members so that the side that would typically stronger isn't yet the side the team is pushing is easily defensible by the enemy because there is not enough to overwhelm. What should I do in these situations?

    Sturmtiger, 380mm of awesomeness

    The Mother of all Derps, the SturmTiger. For years WG has been talking / testing about the sturmtiger, but now it seems it wont come, because `it cant be balanced`. While this would be true if WG is using the `normal` scaling for dmg and penetration, it doesnt mean those rules cant be bend. The sturmtiger is one of the more iconic tanks ever built, who cares for Pershing or IS3 if there is a sturmtiger? Most tanks are kinda boring or just an evolution of something, very few are ``special`` Just like the Maus is an absolute 100% must have in any ww2 tank game with prototypes, the sturmtiger is also a must have. The biggest most powerfull gun ever mounted on a `tank`!! There are 3 ``problems`` tieh Sturmtiger, according to many, including WG, but none is really problematic.... Too much alpha dmg! Historical, yes, in-game, why should it? It was a rocket, not a shell, which is enough reason to justify much lower dmg, with 2000/2800 dmg it should be ok... Penetration mechanics, overmatch etc etc Its a rocket and HE so: - no overmatch, HE doesnt overmatch in wot, stop with this bs myth, HE = never overmatch - Give it low penetration (50-90 or so), just to pen some paper tanks and thats it - Dont give it ANY shell with (high) penetration, only 1 type of shell and no gold ammo (Sturer Emil also has no gold shells, T49 has no AP, only derp shells so an exception can be made...) This means that it will almost never penetrate its targets, which means an effective 1000-1400 dmg, equal to a Jp-E100, it does have massive splash, so it can hit multiple targets. But big HE derps dont work / are no fun to use or fight against They do work in wot, and very well, look at SU-152 900 HE dmg on tier 7, 0,5 acc and 3,4 aim time, that is not much different as 2000 at tier 10, especially since the platform is worse (slower and less camo) and if SU-152 had no gold shells would people complain about it? Is KV2 a problem? NO!! But HE derps are OP!! No, the only reason they are ``OP`` are gold shells By NOT giving Sturmtiger gold shells and bad HE pen, on a slow, big, bulky, no camo vehicle it is no problem at all... The vehicle would simply play as a mix of SU-152 and Jp-E100. It has: - The size of a King- or JagdTiger, so bad camo - Same weight as a King Tiger, except more frontal loaded weight, at best JagdTiger mobility - Tall, so easy to hit - Shitty armor, its worse as KT armor, but on tier 10... So its a slow, big, relative weak armored TD with bad camo. It needs a good gun to compensate and luckily it has.... To balance give it a shell with 2500 dmg (due to HE mechanics, this will be cut in half, so 2500 alpha means 1250 in practice!!!) and 50-90 pen (or even lower, penetration should be so low, that it NEVER penetrates!!), enough to 1 shot anything from behind but to weak for frontal / side penetrations, which means splash dmg is all it deals... - Alpha dmg: 1000-1300 (depending on target, if it deals more on stuff like JT front, nerf alpha to 2400 or 2300, just as long that non-pen hits deal 1300 as ``max`` (random troll shots excluded) - pen: 0-50-90, some paper tanks might suffer, but for the rest its always too little (so it never penetrates its target!) - Reload: slightly longer reload as Fv-183 (35-40 sec) - Accuracy : 0,5-6, Su-152 has 0,5, KV-2 0,6, but it has turret, Fv-183 has 0,4, but is supposed to hit weakspots, so 0,5 should do for sturmtiger - Terrible shell speed - Aim time: 4 sec, a little more as Fv-183 or other big derps - MASSIVE bloom to frontal moving, on the move shooting should be impossible - normal bloom to turning / moving gun It would turn out to be a Jp-E100, in terms of mobility, camo and alpha dmg, except it uses a derp gun and no AP, HE has the advantage of always big dmg, but the con of bad accuracy and aim time (and shell speed). When compared to Fv-183, it is slower, worse accuracy / bloom and no turret. When compared to SU-152, more dmg, but way slower and worse camo Yes, suchs `fast` reload is not historical, Yes, suchs low dmg is bs, Yes, giving only 1 ammo type is `strange` but so are many other tanks, reload and dmg are pure balance parameters... 1 This tank would be balanced and playable to play 2 This tank wont be anything more annoying to fight as a T57, Jp-100 or E3, its a Jp-E100 who deals always dmg, but has almost no armor, it cant snipe and has worse reload as even the Fv-183 3 It has almost no gun depression, limiting it in many ways 4 SU-152 aim time / accuracy with worse shell speed is not really game-breaking... 5 Due to massive splash, it will offer unique playstyle, its capable of hitting multiple targets at once (while not beiing OP...) while having the worse accuracy of the game (if shell speed is taken into account) 6 It is one the most ``wtf is that oO?`` vehicles ever made, its an icon, its like the Maus or the Jagdtiger, a game full of prototypes without Sturmtiger is just fail 7 The game is full of unbalanced OP / lame bs vehicles some beiing outright fake (WTF-E100) Sturmtiger was actual built, it fought and its less unbalanced as fantasy bs like WTF... TL:DR Sturmtiger is historical and can be implemented in a balanced way, only some arbitrary game-rules have to be bend (like dmg / calibar ratio), and since Sturmtiger is trully a one-of-a-kind vehicle, it can trully stay the only exception... (its NOT a slippery scale like smooth bore guns since nobody else ever built a tank which could shoot rocket-assisted shells...) I can understand that WG wants more `historical accuracy` but NOT adding an iconic vehicle as the Sturmtiger pure for `balance` reason is a perfetic joke... especially if fake bs tanks like WTF-E100 are no problem, it will most likely turn out as a Maus, different as anything else, fun to play for people who like the tank but not really game-breaking (and only good in specific situations) ps: and it is a good hardcounter against stuff like E3 / E100, tanks which are close to OP, it will also be good vs dug in enemys like hull down IS7 or big cluster f**k on Himmelsdorf death alley GIEF STURMTIGER NOAW

    Brendan's IS-6 Challenge

    Hey! Bought myself a shiny new IS-6 today and decided I want to IS-6 properly. I will be doing a 50 battle challenge with a few goals in mind: Achieve 60% WR in it, deal an average of 2200 damage, 30% Survival rate and get 1.5 kills per game. Stats will be tracked with Tank Numbers and posted when I can. Here is my setup for anyone interested: o7o7o7o7
  19. I've been playing this game for a pretty long time. Back about a year ago, I was running a bit over 3000wn8. Due to it's terrible luck based mechanics, balance breaking gold ammo and power creep, and campy vision system, I generally uninstall it for months at a time before getting back into it because all of my terrible friends keep playing it. Last time I did this, I took a break for 5 months, and for the last 3 months have been sitting at 2200-2500wn8. That's not terrible, but not as good as I used to be, so clearly I was dissatisfied. Then, suddenly last week, I figured it out. I figured out how to Git Gudtm Now, I wouldn't be posting this if I did it in a way that I considered to be padding. No gold rounds, platoons, overpowered tanks or sniping out of viewrange at enemy tanks spotted by my allies was employed here. All I've been playing this last week was my tier 10s (T110E5, Batchat, T62a, M60) and some terrible tier 5s I'm trying to grind out 6th sense on (BDR G1B, Chi Nu, Chi Nu kai) So, what the hell did I change in one week that sent my wn8 from 2500 to 4000 to the point of doing an extra 1000 damage in the same tanks? Well besides spending too much time putting up insulation and drywall in my basement, only one thing. Picking my battles. Generally, I would choose a section of a map that I like for some reason, drive over there, run into some enemies and try to outskill them until one of us died. I did this even if I was outnumbered 3 to 1, even if they were a higher tier, even if they were in a better position, even if they were sitting there waiting for me to peek. As long as I had some chance to pen them, I would poke around that corner and take that shot or rush in and start circling them. It worked a decent amount of the time, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten a 63% winrate and purple wn8 out of it, but then I started watching streams. I saw people who (no names) played much worse than me, yet still somehow managed to be dark purple while looking like they weren't even trying. A lot of them were padders, but some weren't, and I noticed what they were doing that I wasn't, and that was that they never engaged in an unfavourable fight. They'd run into a bunch of tanks they could barely pen sitting around a corner waiting for them to try peeking, and they wouldn't peek, they would fuck off to a different part of the map until they found themselves in an engagement where they could get at least twice as much damage out as they got put back into them without even trying, instead of fighting an enemy in a great position ready for them. They would do this, and they would win that engagement. They would kill a few tanks, damage a few more, get some map control and barely lose any health doing it. Then they'd use this map control to find another area where THEY had the advantage or the surprise over the enemy, and get more easy damage out, until the first tanks in the great position that they avoided were outnumbered and surrounded, and THEN they would use all the HP they still have from not making risky trades and the numbers advantage they have to kill those tanks. It doesn't work on all maps, a lot of the maps in this game are terrible sets of 3 corridors with TDs camping both ends where nothing but chaisniping and high pen/alpha works, but with them changing a lot of those maps recently, you can pull this off more often. I started doing this, and clearly the change in stats and winrate speaks for itself. I have a few videos below to show you the difference in playstyle, both losses (I twied guies) and the "bad" playstyle against terrible pubbies that should have killed me much easier than they did, but comparing the two, you could see that I had a much easier time against much better opponents in the second video than I did in the first, despite being in a much worse position in the second video map control-wise Now in the second video I also overlaid a bunch of tips and explanations for why I did certain things but near the start one gets fucked up (the "slides" used to be 3 seconds long instead of 5, and when I changed the length they stayed on I forgot to move one over to compensate for the extra length) What that slide says is another important thing again talking about always picking favourable situations, and that is that if one side of the map only has 3 or 4 pubbies go to it, and you know that the enemy will almost definitely send a reasonable amount more, DO NOT go to that side to attempt to compensate, you will get rolled with the rest of the guys who went over there. Instead stay somewhere between your lemming train and your base, close enough to get help from allies but also in a position where you can quickly reset the cap, which will give your pubbies time to notice that they left half of the fucking map undefended and move back to base to help you Anyway I hope this helps people out, especially the more aggressive players like me. Use your aggression to move up and shoot enemies in the side and other places where they're not prepared for you or are in a bad position to fight you, don't just find the nearest enemy and try your best to kill them even if the odds are heavily stacked their way, deal with those guys last after you kill all their friends. Always get the first shot, never peek against an enemy that's ready for you and loaded unless you'll get a lot more out of it than they would. If you manage to get your tank's expected damage in before an enemy has even managed to turn their turret at you before you've disappeared, then you've done it right.

    Why not a no-arty gamemode?

    Hello, Something which has always bothered me: Why does Wargaming not make a no-arty gamemode? We have gamemodes, WG knows a lot ot players dont like arty and WG knows a lot of players like arty The easiest solution would thus be: Create a new game-mode, exactly the same as randoms, but without arty (they are locked from this gamemode) The only reasons i can think why WG would not do this is: - 1: There would be very little players playing this - 2: Its technical not possible to create a game-mode where one class gets locked - 3: WG fears cry for a no-td or no-heavy tank game-mode Or the main reason (i think): - 4: no Arty game mode would be the beginning of the end... If there are 3000 players of which 150 are arty, it means 5% arty, or in 3 games (90 players) players this equals to 4.5 artys, so 1 game with 2 arty on both side and 2 games without arty). If there is a no-arty game-mode and 1000 players go to there, there are 2000 tanks and 150 arty, or 7.5%, which means in 3 games (90 players) 6.75 (about 7), so either 1 game with 3 arty on both side, or 2 games with 1-2 arty on both side. The relative increase of arty + more people discovering no-arty game-mode, might lead to a increase of lets say 1500 players and 150 arty, in 3 games (90 players) this means 9 arty, so 2/3 games will have 2 arty, or all games have atleast 1 arty. Since there is (relative) more and more arty, people who at first didnt both might also start to swap to no-arty mode if 300 more leave and its onlu 1200 / 150, that means that for 3 games (90 players) there will be almost 11 arty, all 3 games have about 2 arty on both sides... This might create an endless loop of less players, relative more arty, less players, more arty in the end leading to and endless arty-party crap.... In the most extreme case there will be almost every game 3-4 arty, meaning WG will be forced to ``do something`` But nerfing wont be a solution anymore, since even if arty numbers drop most likely a small percentage of no-arty mode players wont come back.... (atleast i wouldnt...) Is point 4 too far fetched, or is this indeed the reason we wont get a no-arty gamemode?, The risk of opening Pandora`s box is quite high, especially since the last 2 major changes times, gold ammo and tier 10 med/td, didnt turn out to be that amazing (at best the game became a tiny bit better, imo it became much worse) ps: it might also lead to strange balancing problems, WTF-E100 in arty-partys is far less gamebreaking as in no-arty mode, same autoloaders will be better off in arty-partys as in-no arty mode (no arty = more flanking = more attacking = bad for autoloaders (as T69 or T57) which are good in stalements)

But sometimes it is very hard for me to unleash their full potential. I would like a tank who is used right when driving head first into a brawl. Which line should I choose? The Russian Heavy's or the Chinese Heavy's?

So with Arctic Region getting a bit of a touch up i think i've found the most viable place to go in a med, Replay for an example http://wotreplays.com/site/968497#arctic_region-sploofy-fcm_50_t That little hill has a bush, good arty cover and is pretty central so you can flex somewhat easily. This spot is especially good with the high concentration of people who yolo rush the middle because they think its the new #ggNoReFacerollMap route.
