FV4005 Stage II

So you just said it doesn't matter what tank it is, if someone tomato camps like crazy it will still fuck your game ;)

Yolo 183s never happen. Seriously 26k games I have never seen one. Not only they are too slow but the aimtime is horrendous, they cannot fire on the move, and to actually manage to come close to you, you must have taken a pretty horrible spot on the map. :/

Exactly, the same point could be argued for the noob that camps in the back with an autoloader all game and remains undamaged. Then he swoops in at the end clipping everyone and single handedly winning the match. You will get games like this just as ones with an E75 or ST-I left in tier 9 against lower tiers. You can't always have the advantage in this game or control everything, but you can try to or limit the advantage for your enemy. I've had more issues with Waffle 100's clipping me from outside spotting range than 183's 1 shotting me. Most of the time I get killed by a 183 is because I made a stupid play or was far to aggresive and ran in solo without team. You still could get sniped by one but thats the chance you always take when you get spotted same goes for getting wrecked by arty. That is why I really enjoy this game because of the rock paper scissors game style.

183 before mobility nerf was more then fast enough for a yolo rush (it was for a heavy tank very fast, faster / more agile as tanks like IS4 so more then fast enough for yolo)

Also on a lot of maps its very simple to do (even for a red-retard)

- basecampers, pre aim a corner and wait all game long (these kind of player can be seen atleast 50% of the games, if not more, they ofc not always drive a 183, but the k0 basedefenders are extremely common, give them a WTF-E100 or 183 and ``the fun can begin``

- Himmelsdorf rush mid once the fight is going in the alley and shoot them in the back, he ofc dies, but thats still 1750 dmg at the side (or climb the hill and wait till somebody drives into your crosshair)

- Pearl river, derp forward in the brawl and shoot once

- Ensk, just wait a few minutes and rush into some tanks, guarantee you will rek somebody

- etc etc etc

Almost any map has more then 1 location where  its very easy to get derprushed, only if you play extremly campy you can prevent this, but if you play frontline, gettting yoloed is always possible

ps: its like suicide T57 before HEAT nerf, or bat chats, there is nothing you can do against them, if they want you dead you go dead, they simply rush into you and dump a clip, even if there 4 tanks in front of you, they can (and will) still kill you...

(and this is not rare, i see this all the time on tier 10, if there yolo-capable tanks (50b, bat chat, lorraine, T57, WTF-E100, 183) like 50% of the games either some1 from my team or the enemy will suicide rush into 1 or more enemys and try to kill him)

Changes to Vehicle Characteristics

  • FV215b (183) tank destroyer rebalanced: Armor protection of the rotating superstructure increased, traverse speed and crossing capacity decreased

references:

http://worldoftanks.com/en/content/docs/release_notes/#vehicle

This what I notice fv183 is slight different mobile than before patch 9.4

Armor 183 turn to superstructure that cause mobility slight heavier?

I have no clue, feeling different play style in 9.4 and 9.5 FV183

Do you live under a rock :P

They "rebalanced" fv183 to play differently than fv4005. They uparmored the turret and nerfed the mobility so it plays more like a heavy than a sniper the fv4005 supposedly is.

I seriously don't know how you (plural) can manage to get one shotted by FVs. In all my games I have gotten penned twice and both were in my FV heavy pushing a corner even though I was aware 183 was there, just hoping they'd just splash me. Both before the HESH nerf. After the HESH nerf If I see an FV I wish it fires HESH and not AP because HESH never pens anymore. And with AP, why do people complain about FVs and not the JPZE100 that also has shit tons of armor? Right now HESH rounds are so shit I'm all for removing them and putting in a proper gold round 400 pen APCR while fixing the chassis. I agree completely with Rexxie.

I have a 183 that I like(d) to drive from time to time and the HESH can still wreck shit after the nerf. I've one-shot IS8's frontally and E75's side on, even without aiming (RNGesus). And this is only in 50-odd games. I almost have one one-shot (or near-death-shot) per game (average). If you know where to aim HESH is still the way to go - so red players might not find it as entertaining because they don't know where to aim. Also the fact that you can deal 500-700 dmg to a perfectly-sidescraped Maus or hulldown IS7 is also hilarious. HESH is what makes this tank unique and if they removed it, it would just be a wannabe-JpzE100.

There must be something wrong with your positioning or situational awareness. I have not been YOLO'ed (or rather, I haven't allowed anyone to YOLO me) more than a few times in quite a few months. Maybe I am psychic, but I can often see when a pubbie decides: YOLO-time! and then I do my best to fall back enough for him to die before he reaches me, or spot him early for people to kill him and so on. Just try to keep yourself away from areas where there are no blind approaches.

It would be fine for me if it would stay floor trash forever.

Agreed, better it stays trash since that would keep the number of those things in-game low. Such extreme tanks are bad for gameplay (same with WT).

not that i get suicide rushed half the games, (i make sure i have some ``team``mates in front of me) but the risk of getting derp-rushed is massive, just from yesterday, what i can remember:

- i get suicide rushed in my E4 by 2x E100, an T57, an E5 and a Panther 88, reason? ALL enemy tier 10 tanks go to the side where i aim, i know i dont have much back up, so i play carefull, and if they had stopped and played ``the normal way`` i would have survived, now i got 3 shots of and died, ofc then my platoon came and they killed them all, but it was still a yolo

- M103 (top tier) yolos our wz-131, but my LTTB  and a T44 to the rescue and we kill him

- WTF-E100 goes rull retard on a IS8 or so, i come to help IS8, im too late to save him, but i can wreck that WTF-E100 (with my LTTB and some HE)

- T57 and WTF-E100 both go full retard on my E4, T57 dies before he can kill me, WTF-E100 shoots HE, i take 3 hits and have 30 hp left or so, but im alive and hes dead (was highway in cyt, they yolo full retard forward)

- Jp-E100 and a Su-122-54 try to derp rush me and a JT (we had survived this i think anyway), but our Jp-E100 is corner camping like a baws (he aimed that corner for like 5 minutes) so the Jp-E100 fails and i can kill him in return

- some enemey lorraine who camped all game long rushes a 140 and kill him, ofc 10 sec later he dies himself

etc

Half the games 1 tank with a big gun, top tier, or clip will rush towards a lone tank with the intend to fuck him over.

Or it goes like this:

shot_236.jpg

Full HP WTF-E100 camping in base, all game long, most fighting took place in enemy base, he could shoot nothing from where he camped, however enemy meds will most likely try a cap-fast (last spotted near beach 30 sec ago or so) so he just camps near base till the end of the game, waiting for them, and NOTHING they can do about that...

ps: huge alpha / autoloader / arty are extremely toxic for the game, Jp-E100 or AP Fv4500 works, but a bat chat with 2k in a clip, a WTF-E100 with 3k in a clip? a T57 with 1600 and 6 sec to emtpy it? or arty with 2000 alpha dmg?

Tier 10 suffers under too much viewrange and it suffers under too much alpha dmg / burst fire, and the problem aint Fv-183, it are those ``amazing autoloaders``....

If anyone is interested on a review of this tank and the entire line check out Sirfoch's youtube channel he sums it up really well.

I just recently got a mastery badge game in this tank on Hidden Village 8k dmg. Added my replay if anyone wants to watch it. Not the most action packed replay I made 2 mistakes first one was loading AP to finish off the E4 and the second one was missing out on top gun.

http://wotreplays.com/site/1568603#hidden_village-oceanblue-fv4005_stage_ii

Equip: Optics/Rammer/Vents

Crewskills:

BiA / 6th / Situational Awareness

BiA / Snapshot / Repairs

BiA / Smoothride / Repairs

BiA / Safe Stowage / Repairs

BiA / Adrenaline Rush / Repairs

For my next skill I will pick up Recon and full camo. Consumables I'm using small repair/medkit/automatic fire extingusher. I was running food/large medkit/large repair kit, but it was far too expensive since the tank is so hit or miss. Ammo loadout 9 premium hesh and 3 AP rounds.

TLDR: This is a 183 for a pure masochist.

Anyone have 2 or 3 MoE's on this tank? I stuck at around 75% and I still only see noobs playing this tank. I find it hard to believe I cant get the 2nd MoE (Had it on the conway). Havent seen one decent player using this tank yet on the NA server. Will be interesting to see how this tank fairs in 9.6 with the TD view range changes. I've come to like the tank now it is very team dependent and can be down right frustrating on Fiery Salient or artillery heavy matches. Also found it interesting that sirfoch failed to mention just how bad the camo rating of the tank is in his video. I would not recommend getting camo unless you have run out of decent skills. You gain more from camo paint than 100% camo crew. You could use binos over coated optics if you dont have that good of a crew.

Ya I played it on the test server, its complete garbage. It's slow, un manueverable, has horrid camo and armor, plus like 5 second reload time isn't worth it, you could get the same gun with slightly worse soft and hard stats but with a chassis and turret that have armor, plus almost identical top speed. It's the shittiest tier 10 IMO.

I have around 250 games in mine so far it has taken me a while to learn where on the maps to play it and what style of play works best for me. I would highly recommend platooning with another 183 based on the pure RNG nature of the tank. I platooned with another FV4005 yesterday and was consistently doing more DPG than when I play by myself. A lot of times I fail to one shot people solo pubbing and I either get rushed or clipped. You cant just play like an idiot in this tank you have to be thinking about what tanks the enemy team has, where they will be, and what your position will be. I really wish the tank had the 950hp engine from the conway. The mobility of the tank makes you easy arty bait if caught in the open which sometimes you cannot avoid. Even the reverse of the tank is painful slow so I tend to hug cover or peek out and wait for someone to poke corner. Not to mention I've been hit by a tier 8 french arty for 1200 and most of the high tiers if they hit the turret is a 1 shot which is really frustrating. Decent players will do fine in the tank just less consistent games than in the 183.

the landarty does not need any buff

it does not deserve it

So you dont even have the FV4005 unlocked and you say it does not need a buff? Even a quick back to back comparison on the test server you can see how bad the FV4005 is compared to the FV215B 183. I just recently unlocked the FV215B 183 on the live server and it is so much better than the FV4005. Since the armor buff you can actually bounce e-100, e3/e4, and even jagd e-100 off the turret reliably sometimes even HEAT rounds. The only draw back to the FV215B 183 so far is the longer aim time and slightly worse accuracy which I am wiliing to live with since I have usable armor. I sold my FV4005 and will only buy it back if they decide to buff it in the future. I have to admit the FV215B 183 is still a little broken and after the armor buff it can be really strong. I have made a quick pro and con of each 183 tank. Literally the FV4005 has one and only 1 redeaming quality. Even though the FV215B 183 has some negatives they are still workable and dont make the tank completely useless like the latter.

FV215B 183

+ Decent camo

+ Bouncy turret

+ Can side grind

+ Same view range as FV4005

- Frontal engine and fuel tanks

- Slow traverse

- Slightly slower

- Slightly worse aimtime/accuracy

FV4005

- Horrible camo

- Slow turret

- Harder to play

- No armor

- Sluggish

- Can get repeatedly penned without being able to shoot enemy back

- 45 degree gun arc worse on this tank because turret is in front.

+ Faster aiming more accurate than FV215B 183

+ Slightly more mobile

The thing is that even though this tank is unarguably the worst T10 in the game by vast margins, most players just want to see 183 players squirm because of how well many times they've had their jimmies rustled by HESH. I'm sure he's aware the tank sucks ass.

Also IIRC it doesn't aim faster. Aimtime might be better but the bloom is much worse so it actually has to aim for a longer time to get the same accuracy. It's a HORRIBLE version of the pre-speed nerf/turret buff 183.

It is just test server.

1) Only tier 10s = more HP to farm

2) Everyone plays TVP/Grille/FV4005/batman/fv183 that are pretty easy to pen with HESH

3) Everyone plays like a retard. They just go in front of your gun...yea

I had fun with it on test server. Its really, really bad, but HESH derping is fun. I dont know what to expect on live tho, but i rather play this line than the AT line (copypaste slow turretless weakspot riddled pewpew machines - no thx). The FV4005 line isnt even that horrible now that Challenger is atleast playable, Charioteer is (probably) gud and Conway has no stock grind.

i'll necro the thread.

some time ago i got some gold from idk where (friends owing me? esl? some wg tournament?) and decided to get the shitbarn..

It's not too bad, i carry 8 HESH (premium ofc) and 4 AP.. AP is for Maus and other superheavies that i know i would never pen with 230, hesh is for everything else.

I found that its playstyle is to be a support tank, pop out when the enemy has reloaded and wreck them for 1.7k(1.1 with ap) and duck back in cover. no armour at all, so most people will load and pen you with HE destroying absolutely anything that's in your paper turret (had a m41 90 penning my turret with HEP killing both loaders and my ammorack, 70s reload)..

One thing that kills it is the gun depression/elevation.. -5/+8 degrees for such a tall tank is simply abysmal. even small ridges can be a problem and sometimes you need to overextend a lot to get a shot, which usually results in taking more damage than you've just dealt.

Overall it's one of those tanks you play when you're bored/tilted, because the amount of oneshots/99% hp shots is hitlerious.

Equipment wise i run Rammer, Vents, GLD. could run optics over gld but since i play it as a close support i don't really need to spot.

Ez TD 15.4 done, too bad HESH didn't pen the back of a 263, otherwise i would have got the 5 kills requirement for the secondary..

Anyway, was a good farm..

How do you play this thing? Everyone focuses you, you get no camo and he pens you.

On open maps, redline outside from view range aka as far from possible. On city maps, use HTs as meatshields and poke when enemies are reloading

Just bought it after the buff. Still utter shit, novelty wears off after the first two games. Useless mostly.

You don't, that's the answer. Not if you like to make a consistently positive difference, instead of sporadic four digit damage that usually adds up to a mediocre amount in the end.

That's what I'm doing but it's hard to redline on current maps. Camo snipe on the edge of VR works fine but redlining means I do like 2.8k dpg.
