9.13 Sound & Physics Client - Changelog:

Spoiler
Changes to Sound Design in the Special Test:
  • Replaced the current FMOD sound engine with Wwise.
  • Emphasised the informational component of sound. Now, the players always hear the most important in-game events first.
  • Fully reworked all gameplay sound content.
  • New battle ambience is composed of unique content, recorded at various proving grounds.
  • Increased the overall distance at which important sounds are heard. Now, all events for shots, explosions and hits cover the whole vehicle visibility range (~600m), creating a more informative and immersive combat environment.
  • Reworked the sound design for both arcade and Sniper aim modes.
  • Fully reworked the sound of vehicle engines. The new sounds are based on authentic recordings of WWII armoured vehicles.
  • Fully reworked the sound of vehicle tracks. Now, as with engines, the sound of tracks changes depending on the manoeuvres of a vehicle.
  • Fully reworked the sounds of gun shots, both inside and outside of vehicle turrets. However, the current system of calibres has been kept.
  • Fully reworked the sounds of penetration. Now, not only can a player identify the calibre of the penetrating shell—they can also identify how much damage the penetration caused to their vehicle.
  • While in Sniper aim, players can now identify by ear from which direction their vehicle was hit.
  • Reworked the sounds of tracers. Now, there is a discernible difference in how shells of different calibres sound when hurtling in close proximity to your vehicle.
  • Reworked the sounds of vehicle explosions.
  • Reworked and re-implemented the special sound upon causing a critical hit.
  • Introduced sound notifications upon destruction of vehicle modules.

Changes to Physics in the Special Test:

Increased the mobility of light and medium tanks.

  • Light and medium tanks will be more mobile, due to the fact that they will no longer lose speed when driving over various terrain irregularities (bumps, rails, etc.).

Vehicle turns

  • While on the move, press SPACE and a directional button to execute the clutch-braking manoeuvre(not available for tank destroyers and SPGs).

The ability to control turn radius

  • While turning, release the forward directional button to decrease the turn radius. Press forward again to regain speed.

New ramming capabilities

  • You can now turn over enemy vehicles by pushing them off steep hills.

Reticle stabilisation

  • By popular demand, the reticle and camera in Sniper aim are stabilised as much as possible. The "gun rocking" mechanics have been disabled.

Seems like they were pretty serious about those supertest changes. Most of them seem pretty fun.

My only objection is that the JT health buff makes the Tortoise feel less special.

Yeah, I mean they buff Pershing and T44's pen but nothing for VK3002D? Or Chi-Ri?

That and buffing the Batchat aimtime to 2.5 sec. That's complete idoicy. Batchat is already borderline OP tank with that 2k burst and literally the reason why it got nerfed from 2.5 aimtime to 2.7 in the past is to reduce its effectiveness and now they are reverting it for no reason. It will be completely overpowered now.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about that either. The 183 line already suffered from being lame as it is, a JT with 2100 HP practically invalidates the Tort in any situation I can think of. The JT's gun and armour are already basically both just as good as the Tort's, if a tiny bit worse. Give the JT even more HP than the Tort and it becomes better at sniping AND better at assaulting.

The tortoise has the advantage of a massive gun arc and as such very easy to hide tumour weak spot.

The JagTiger can really hide it's own unless hull down. Also, it's gun arc isn as good, so exposure is a problem.

Was there any reason WG gave for removing the Fjords map from the game?

Yeah I always thought Fjords was fine, although perhaps a little more prone to being abused by good medium players/platoons sweeping down from the North corner whilst red heavies did nothing on their corner to the East.

Some good changes there, I think. JP2 and other TDs getting power creeped on though.

also

WG logic:

Early 2015 - nerf accuracy for all

Late 2015 - buff accuracy for most

Do they have any direction in their development at all? Its like they don't have a clue.

I thought it would have been better for WG to reduce the HP of the tier 9 and 10 TDs since they scale abnormally compared to the other tiers. On average, TD's should have the lowest HP of all the classes besides arty, and it achieves that for the most part in tiers 1-8. I think what happened with the tier 9 TDs (and subsequently with the tier 10s) is that they were made more powerful in relation to the other classes, since they were historically the ends of their respective lines. Then when the tier 10s were introduced WG didn't nerf the HP pools of the old tier 9 TDs, and instead made the tier 10s have even more HP just to make them appealing.

Anyways @Orrie your list looks incomplete, as it says there was a T32 buff but yet it's not shown what was changed.

Wasn't the T32 buff just a boost to the 90mm's penetration?

If it was there hasn't been any mention of it, all leaked balance changes haven't included the purported T32 changes IIRC.

I haven't seen it posted on Rita's blog or the official notes

I would like to see that(getting consistency among all 90mm T15 variants in game is something I've been hoping for years now), but I think we'd have seen an accompanying change to the T25/2's gun if that happened

The JP2 still is the best non premium tier VIII TD IMO. I mean, yeah the RHM is a stealth plane and the ISU can derp it's way through everything, but for mobility, "armor" (don't know how much the HD model nerfed it), and a really good gun i can get the hit to stealthiness and HP.

The tier 10 Czech medium is absolutely brokenly OP.

With food and vents, it has a 23 seconds revolver reload. It gets 4 shells of 320dmg, with 1.5 second interval and acceptable gun handling.

It feels like you mixed up the Leopard, T-62, and T57 Heavy. It even gets good view range at 410m, and good gun depression.

This thing is the new Batchat.
