Asia Server FO4 discussion (Spoiler on page 2)

237 posts in this topic

Just putting this one up so we can chat about FO4 without having to just throw everything in the thread of fuck you storm.

Current toon is level 32, still no X-01, still haven't completed the main storyline and just cleared out Vault 95 last night. Man, that place is fucked up. I really have to hand it to Bethesda for their creativity though.

I've decided to go with the BoS with this character and not change my allegiance whatsoever. If it means wiping out all ghouls/synths/super mutants, so be it.

i found X)-1 at south boston military checkpoint around level 30 (it does change on level) theres heaps of power suit locations around the map tho.

vault 95? ive found vault 75 havent found 95 yet.

also the dunwich borers location is pretty spoopy, they again left the f*****g quest open which means no more answers for probly another 8 years. i think bethesda is just gonna troll us forever with this one

95 is SE of the outskirts of the Glowing Sea. If you go there check out the computer terminals for what happened.

I found a full suit of T-51b at the Natuonal Guard base near Milton and a partial suit of T-60 in the armoury there. I heard there is a full shoot of X-01 in a building somewhere, just going to have to explore it.

Worth the 100NZ? Played the shit out of Skyrim for years, but I haven't played any of the Fallout franchise yet.

Yes, though the older ones are pretty good too (I'd be inclined to play 3 and NV before 4, because by now they're a bit dated and will be that much harder to get into if you play 4 first).

3 is incompatible with WinX. I couldn't get into NV, I don't know why but I just couldn't do it.

Gling FO4 is definately worth it, the levelling system is simplified compared to 3/NV, but it's more like comparing Skyrim to Oblivion.

I'll update the OP soon, I want to add a "no storyline spoilers" clause.

to be honest feet the storyline is that bad i wouldnt get worried about spoilers, they learned nothing from mass effect 3 ill tell you that much

FNV's story > all other fallout games

Bought FO3 and NV for like 12 SGD total. This gon' be good.

Currently played one hour into Metro 2033 and the presentation feels amazing. Hearing the Russian accented English never gets old.

FO3 > a relatively weak plot about bringing purified water to the masses and finishing off the enclave ( and by lore rules that bethesda made the enclave that survived navarro should not have been in any strength to oppose the brotherhood in any resonable fashion, certiantly not in the numbers they had in FO3)

FNV > a story about multiple well thought out factions with differing agendas trying to control an area with important resources and the winner had actual implications on the future of the region.

basically obsidian storytelling > bethesda's storytelling

FNV had better writing and improved game mechanics (faction reputations / hardcore mode) but I much preferred the atmosphere of FO3, as I thought it conveyed the feeling of a desolate environment which had the shit nuked out of it.

FNV seemed a bit too bright and cheery IMO, like a John Wayne movie set 300 years in the future. (Note: I haven't played any of the DLC for FNV)

NV also had more quests, better characters, more weapons, deeper mechanics and more satisfying gameplay all around, from role playing to combat. The DLC also completely outshines FO3's DLC.

Completely agree with all of that, NV had by far the better mechanics, DLC and a hell of a lot mroe to do, but I much preferred the Capital Wasteland setting to Nevada. Old World Blues is probably the best DLC I've ever played in a game ever.

I'm not so sure about the setting, but I haven't played FO3 much lately. I think NV had more interesting locations than FO3, such as certain caves with legendary enemies, the Enclave remnants bunker, places like Jacobstown, etc, whereas the Capital Wasteland was very monotonous, especially in DC, and the places that were interesting were full of invincible children who like to talk shit, or places that would otherwise be interesting if not for generic as fuck characters. Fallout 4 is really challenging NV in that regard, though, and I think the Commonwealth surpasses the Mojave Wasteland in both ways. The Glowing Sea is the greatest thing Bethesda could have done IMO, and I've probably spent about a third of my time there.

You heartless cunt. In other news, had to reload a save because I killed someone before listening to their explanation for doing something.

NV is the better game overall, though I much preferred exploring the capital wasteland than I did the Mojave, which is essentially broken up into little valleys through untraversable hills and cliffs jutting out of the landscape (and at the start forces you to go a certain route, as the other ways to get to New Vegas are infested with deathclaws and/or cazadores, which no low level character can deal with.

I really liked the Pitt from Fallout 3, but the other add-ons are pretty average, whereas all of the NV ones are pretty good (even Dead Money, for all of its flaws).

On my last Fallout 3 playthrough I blew up Megaton, and then I wished that's what I had done the first time I did that quest, purely because of how memorable it is (though it does force you to listen to that shitty music in the tower, which is more of a punishment than the karma hit will ever be).

I've still never blown up Megaton, and for my money Point Lookout was the best of the F3 DLCs with the Pitt being a close second. Completely agree regarding exploring the Capital Wasteland. Kind of want to replay both games now.

Holy fuck the main story in FO4. What the actual fuck? No spoilers but wow.

I'm feeling dirty working for the BoS at the moment as well.

I'm assuming because of plot related things?

I'll have to disagree, aside from them historically being xenophobic technology hoarders, it's good that all bar one of the factions fail to be morally black and white, which in my opinion, makes them all the more interesting, no-one has a good solution to rebuilding the wasteland, or even just to try and make it a better place, which I think suites the the world they live in, as an example I think the F3 Brotherhood of "we're really just Humanitarians in power armour" Steel, which to me just feels out of place.

I tend to align myself with the "good". To me the BoS are like the Stormcloaks, and after 4 years of owning Skyrim I have never completed their story. Mostly because they're a bunch of fascist wankers.

Once I complete the BoS plot I might start again and go for the Minutemen. If the General's Armour can take Ballistic Weave, it'll be awesome!

It's official, the BoS are a bunch of fascists. I've also decided to go for a specialist sniper build. Thinking about starting with lowered strength and endurance, high perception, intelligence, agility and luck. Charisma… meh. It's not 100% necessary.
