Star Citizen Alpha dog-fighting F7C-M plan

20 posts in this topic

If you own the Super Hornet:

Please Allow as many ships as possible to destroy you while offering little resistance. Do not go around kicking everyone's ass right from the start. We don't want this thing "adjusted" in any way

Feel free to fight other SHs hard as you want

thank you

I really want to pick up one of these bad boys but being a poor college student sucks. :(

Are the super hornets an end of the game fighter?

it's not that much better than the normal hornet,  think has a better genorator than can be upgraded to something bigger than what the normal one can, and comes with a turret stock.

aparently the connie will have no trouble taking on 3 normal hornets. so i honestly don't see why anyone would want to fly fighters >.>

It also has space for a second crewmember, *drools* and like others say, better stock config etc. I wish I had that money to drop on an e-ship, Aurora LN for the win...yay... ;___;

These questions have been hashed out extensively on the SC forums. Super Hornet has more pluses the you might think, against the Hornet or Constellation. But It does have drawbacks as well. A well armed constellation variant will probably run over $300 pledge, making the SH look cheap, also the Con needs a crew for maximum effectiveness. Different roles for sure

I figure it will be easier at the start to build assets flying solo in a ship with less overhead, compared to the Constellation. Plus, a well rounded fleet probably includes a premier fighter so I will keep it around if I move on

If one of the Constellation variants is super badass, and that's very possible, I may melt my SH package and upgrade. TBD

But whatever happens, WoT gets no money from me ever again, that's for sure. I'll keep my tanks, but I've payed my last

Um, I'm sorry, but this is why:

To be more specific, Fighter Pilots are just cooler than everyone else.  Fighter ships, by that margin, are just more awesome I'm afraid.  I love the Connie as much as the next guy, but the Super Hornet... that's the kind of ship that will drop the pants off a fetching lass.

Plus, well, you can fit all of the guns to a Superhornet and with some creative flying, I'm pretty confident you'd be able to take on an average Connie alone.  Not all of course, and it wouldn't be easy, but to say that any Connie could take on a trio of Hornets is like stating that any pubbie in an E-100 shouldn't feel threatened by a trio of tier 8s.  He shouldn't... but he'll still get murdered, probably by just one.

The only multi-person ship (rather, light freighter and up in size) I could be convinced to buy with real cash would be something made by Origin (perhaps the alluded to 890 Jump mentioned in the broshure), because god are the 300s sexy.

But, even when I do own something bigger in the full game... you'll most often find me cruising the stars searching for hidden things in my 315p.  Exploration is shaping up to be beyond awesome.  That, or I'll be: A, flying the Merlin for one of the several friends I know who have Connies or B, flying escort for them in my Super Hornet.  Or, C, of course, which is just me trolling around in the Super Hornet (the first upgrade for which I plan to buy is the Void Armor, to give it the same sexy black look as the Hornet Ghost - its stated to be something you can apply in the full game).

You guys planning on going through Squadron 42 for the perks, i.e. citizenship and possibly ability to purchase some higher grade military equipment, or straight to the PU?

i'm currently saving for a ghost as it look pretty damn awesome almost as good as the avenger.

Have you seen the youtube vids by AnythingFPS? Game modder. Has a "clean" Avenger that is pretty sweet looking. Even better then the game, crazy as it sounds. He has a few very awesome vids

That's the dilemma for me, honestly.  I want to jump right into the PU and get my Explore on... but I think I'm gonna go through Squadron 42 first.  I'll set aside a day and blitz through it in one sitting.  It'll be a good way to get used to the Hornet's characteristics I imagine. Perhaps I'll even get the funds I need to throw Void Armor and such on the Super Hornet, or get access to upgrades such as, oh, I dunno, those gattling cannons to hook under the wing (which most believe are in the hangar module only for fun, as they're not part of the broshure model).  Plus, well, I want to be a Citizen.  The only good bug is a dead bug, and all that.

methebest, consider getting the Super Hornet, and I'll tell you why:

- the Super Hornet has an upgraded, strengthened, and larger airframe and hull, which is different from the other Hornets

- the Super Hornet can be upgraded with Void Armor and low light emission engines like the Ghost, but the Ghost cannot be upgraded to a two-seater

- Super Hornet comes with a jump drive out of the box, as well as an impressive weapons loadout and a better power plant

Basically... if you can afford it, the Super Hornet really is the best choice.  It can be any of the others, while the others are limited to being the Recon, Stealth, or basic Hornet - they can fit similar weapons loadouts, but won't quite match the Super.

But, it is expensive, of course.  The Ghost would be a fine purchase, and it IS very sexy - which is the most important feature.

well shucks, thanks :3 my brand new LN sure aint no super hornet, but I like it nontheless. Although if a budget 2 seater comes up sometime before December, I'll move heaven and earth for it xP. Time to debate gifting it out to a stranger who I dont know along with money in hopes I will get LTI on it.... :I

Also, if anyone ever needs a gunner for that turret in their super hornet, I can be your wingman, anytime. The only price is that I'll quote top gun and star wars too much.

The LN will be a very useful ship, need that cargo capacity to make money, something my SH doesn't have. Plus the Devs have stated that they don't want the Aurora to be a ship that people feel they "need" to move past to do well. Your LN has the added hardpoints, and the upgraded guns you can earn in game will be worthwhile. And on top of that, buying new ships is supposedly not going to be a huge grind, nothing like the WoT grind

As for LTI, there are a few people on this forum that can help you out, no risk because reputation matters. Send a PM to one of them

There is a thread on the SC forum started by Kitti for WoT survivors, a bunch of people over there for all things SC.

Oh yeah, Im pretty sure anyone who offers it on WoTlabs wouldnt pull a fast one, xP. Mostly just gotta wait till next paycheck before I can spend more, I already broke down and got the ship early lol. That is nice to hear that it's a jack of all trades kinda basic ship. Because If it is upgradeable, I will upgrade and fly that ship until it is an utter menace, no matter how long it takes (which will most likely be a while, I sense many asteroid collisions in my future):3.

Considering CR has parroted "WoT is pay-to-win," you can be quite sure that neither Hornet nor Super Hornet will be end-game ships.

Also, remember the Hornet from Wing Commander I?  Noob ship.

I don't doubt that. It's been stated that the guns pledge ships start out with are low level compared to what will be available in the PU.

I have no problem with the pledge though, because with the Alpha and Beta access, I'll be playing the game a year sooner then waiting for release. Plus, because no post Beta wipe, what you build before release stays with you, so no wasted time.

Also, I really wanted to give another Dev my money.
