Vk 3002 D says no. Without full gold that tank is unplayable. Wargaming has always said they don't balance tanks around gold ammo, yet there's many tanks in the game that require some kind of gold to be effective. While there's usually some form of meta, not every game on the same map will play identically. That has to do with tank composition and skill level of the player playing respective tank, if there's platoons/lots of arty and most notable of all is the different minds playing each game. That makes the meta change every game, nothing plays out like you'd imagine from the start for certain reasons that you don't know of yet. This makes it so that you can't really predict that certain parts of the map will be as useful every game, and hence the meta is uncertain. What you should think more o

Hey mate, money spent are dead money, you will never get it back. To spend in AW or not should purely depends only on AW is fun or not. If it does, why not spend on a good and fun game instead of funding old shit ? Even if you are not willing to spend any more on tank games, you will still have to spend time to play, spend time with the better one is definitely wiser.

For most tanks, damage dealt on its own may be a stable enough factor for WN8 calculation. For tanks with insanely high expected damage but low expected kills (LT in general, tier 10s with less than 1 expected kill per battle, stuff like that), it will be easier to get high WN8 by kills than by damage. Ditto for other "unbalanced" expected values. Then again, WN8 (or any rating system for the matter) are not meant to be used in analyzing single games anyway, it only works properly when you feed it lots of numbers (read: lots of battles, lots of numbers).
