This is stupid. I have a number of issues with this. Removal of content which will later be issued as rewards or purchasable in game on special occasion (perhaps for inflated prices). It feels like they are removing previously unlock-able stuff to give themselves more to work with and encourage monetization. Removal of more iconic tanks and generally quite historical ones. Like it or not, one major draw of WOT is in the tanks. What does it say when tanks like the firefly or the hetzer are being removed? Some loss of mobility on a tech tree. As an example, from the Pz 4H you can research 4 tier 10 tanks currently. With the changes you can only research 1. Tiger P, 3 to 2. HWK 12, 2 to 1. Panther, 2 to 1. Just to pull examples from the German tech tree. Removal of tier 10's. Besides the obvious, this is absolutely horrible to players who aren't so aware of changes being made to the game. Some poor sod somewhere is working towards the AMX 30 as his first tier 10, and then fines that suddenly his tier 9 with 150,000 experience is made a reward vehicle and leads nowhere. (sorta) Are players who have researched the tanks going to recieve the tanks even if they don't have them in the garage? If you want any of the removed tanks, and they don't receive any tank (or don't offer experience refunds) seems like great way to sell some garage slots for those who don't have a ton of them.

    WTF
  5. 2 points
Yeah, I was okay with the pruning when I thought it would amount to combining some of the low tier tanks that are variants of the same tank. Removing 92 tanks, including tier 8, 9, and 10 tanks, is moving backward. One of the most popular things WG ever does is add new tech tree branches to the game, and this undoes that. My first reaction is "too much change and some of it is bad." We'll see how this develops. If memory serves, you were required to have the vehicle in the garage the last couple times this happened.

I'm feeling like a change adverse fuddy duddy but yeah, not seeing this as anything other than a step backwards.

The thing with an IS-3 is that you don't have to give a single flying fuck about single r or having your turret face the right side since you can just turn and snap. This makes the tank relaxing to play and means you have more brain cells for other, possibly more important things like reading maps and maintaining sit awareness. Hull movement stats are not irrelevant - but they can be played around in various ways and aren't really crucial to anything that isn't a soviet hovermed/light or anything which has to constantly flex. Even on casemate tanks, good turret bloom is much more important than good hull bloom - e.g. AMX CDA. I don't get how this discussion is related to the topic at hand and suggest you gentlemen move it to somewhere where it is more germane.

WoT Express is saying that the SU-14-1 is also leaving the tech tree, and that we should expect the balance patch to hit in late Spring.

It gets worse. The reward tanks come in their top configuration. This about the jumbo for a moment.

I sold mine for credits for the Death Star. I feel double bamboozled.

The low tier tanks that disappear from the tree are not being removed. They are still available for credits to anyone who has reached tier 6 in that nation's tech tree, but instead of being in the tree they are in a special Collectors' Vehicles section of the UI. It's just that they aren't part of the research tree.

Also worth noting some of the replacements which are being made here; some tanks are being outright removed and replaced with another tank currently not in the game. Or tanks are being shifted up with another being added in its place. For instance, the A-20 is gone replaced by an uptiered BT-7 with a BT-5 added in. The M3 Lee is replaced with the T6 Medium. Crusader is at tier 6 (and a light again), and the tier 5 spot for the medium line gets the cavalier.

Yeah, but do you have a shiny gold one with shiny gold dragon trim and shiny gold dragon heads on either end of the log and at the end of the barrel? If the price weren't so insane I'd want one just for that hilariously over the top look. It's the same reason I love the Patriot. Edit: Wow, the next deal appears to be the Pz.Kpfw. 38H 735 (f), a tier 2 tank, for 9500 gold.

    Are These Tanks Relevant Today?

Rhoomba remains remains scary, the 490 alpha is more consistent and turns you into a skorp G with no profit. With the Boomstick you sacrifice consistency on the alter of meme value. It isn't meta, but its workable. The T32 is a power creeped PoS. The turret is tough, like crazy tough, but the hull is nothing special and it goes downhill from there. Slow, and with a gun that has never been meta, the T32 lacks the tools to compete with most tier 8 heavies and is a very poor performer when bottom tier. It isn't the worst tier 8 heavy, but it isn't very good. The Type 62 is a decent old school LT, but the Type 64 is better and cheaper. The Tiger 1 is an XP pinata played by masochists. Also how to play Rhm.

    Are These Tanks Relevant Today?

T32: I really like this tank, although I have to set my APCR as my standard round. Hulldown you're practically unstoppable + 400m base means you're a really good bait spotter. The gun hits decently for alright handling as well. Too bad it's horribly powercrept like the other tech tree heavies bar IS-3 because IS-3. Type 62: It's still pretty decent considering its same-tier opponents, although like most light tanks you're going to get shit all over by wheelchair tanks. Tiger I: This tank has always paled in comparison to the all-mighty T29 and the myriad of IS clones at the same tier, it may even suffer a lot more these days since it will struggle a lot fighting tier 8 (premium) heavies. I'd barely call it relevant, it's kind of just there. Rhm-Borsig: Camo TD's have gotten a resurgence due to the broken bush mechanics, so this one can still be relevant even though it's squishy. 490 alpha is nothing to scoff at, and the 15cm is fun for HEAT/HE memes, but I wouldn't pick this tank over the Skorp/S1/WZ-120 FT, which goes for most tier 8 tech tree v. premium tanks these days.

    Sandbox: HE Shells "Rebalancing"

kv2 is fun arty is not, kv2 actually needs to get engaged in the fighting in the front lines arty does not, you can counter and catch out a kv2 pretty easily countering arty not so much. so compairing the kv2 or other derp tanks that are not the cancer jap heavies or shitbarn/deathstar to arty doesn't really make sense. i understand trying to make low cal HE viable but in doing so they are going to kill a alot of the venting your anger tanks that are not as much an issue as lets say arty, jap super heavies, wheeled cars in FL or the massive hesh derp guns on the the shitbarn/deathstar
  27. 1 point
Nowhere near as much of a problem as arty, shit map design, WV, etc. If you get blarped by a KV-2 you generally deserve it. Shitbarn and Type 5 were admittedly a bit of a problem. But WG’s solution (to nerf them into oblivion) was idiotic. Joke tanks have a place in a joke game, especially at low tiers (6 and under).
  28. 1 point
Getting booty blasted by a T49 HE round is generally a lot less RNG-dependent than getting slapped by skycancer for 500 a pop by a shell that landed 3 meters away, IMO, but I do understand that it's not exactly the best feeling in the world either way. That being said, removing an entire sub-class of tanks and playstyle is not the answer here

    Sandbox: HE Shells "Rebalancing"

I havent played in awhile, but i never ever thought that HE was an issue (other then the jap hvys). Derp guns are fun, but kinda easy to counter and play around, sure they can be annoying from time to time, but way wayyyyyy less then the broken silver/gold shells. Derp guns are a meme and bring something different to the gameplay, why the hell would WG look at that before premium rounds, well I think they calculated that is would push people to use gold rounds more often, so mission accomplished.

    T110E4- Because it Was There

Don't have E4, but if do - I'd play with APCRs only.

Gonna be honest, not seeing the problem here beyond cases of "I wanted the 113/T62A/AMX30B/etc but can't get it anymore" for the high tier stuff. Pruning down low tiers is good. It reduces the odds of a new player accidentally stumbling into a truly horrific tank and then quitting the game because of how bad it is [the only really bad low tiers left are the AMX 38 and AMX 40], and it makes backtracking into a new line less irritating. If I started the Swedish medium line for example, and then I want to go back and do the TD's, I don't have to cut through or waste free XP on a bunch of dumb low tier garbage anymore. It is kind of weird that some rather iconic tanks are being taken out, but at least for the low tiers WG is still keeping them accessible for all players. I was afraid they were going to be some dumb reward crap that's completely inaccessible for most players, like what the M60 used to be, but no. Specifically for the AMX 30, Im willing to bet that the AMX 30 re-incarnates later on as part of a continuous line connecting the Somua S35 at tier 3 all the way to the 30B at tier 10. WG went all crazy for "line consistency" between tiers 8 and 10; this is why the Badger got introduced, the Soviet medium and heavy lines got all sorts of messed with, and now all the French TD's at those tiers have autoloaders. Going from the BatChat 12T to the AMX 30 was always super weird and made no sense. Its likely that WG is trying to build a line that bridges the Renault G1R all the way to the AMX 30.
