Crossfader got a reaction from Archaic_One in Sandbox: HE Shells "Rebalancing"
I havent played in awhile, but i never ever thought that HE was an issue (other then the jap hvys). Derp guns are fun, but kinda easy to counter and play around, sure they can be annoying from time to time, but way wayyyyyy less then the broken silver/gold shells.
Derp guns are a meme and bring something different to the gameplay, why the hell would WG look at that before premium rounds, well I think they calculated that is would push people to use gold rounds more often, so mission accomplished.

Well i did play Armoured Warfare, Naval Action and Dreadnought, so yeah i seem to have a nack at picking great game with shitty devs.

CV's finally broke me... got rid of every ship, clan and captian in WoWs. I couldn't watch them slowly murder a game i had enjoyed for 4 years..
So i need something new, not sure about Warthunder, there naval content is getting better (and bigger) but its Gaijin, any other WG style game with tiers and shit that could be good ?

Crossfader got a reaction from Madner Kami in CV rework revealed
Playing HE spam Conqueror is too much.... sadly i think WG is trying to down this route and will end up only hurting the game
WoWs is a niche game that will never have a massive appeal. Better target it at the ones that will play.

Combat air patrol, basically they send fighters up to patrol around or at a certain point

So WG unveiled the long awaited CV rework with a special stream.
First impressions... meh. It looks interesting, keep in mind literally nothing has been balanced, they just got it working.
My main problem is that they moved even further away from playing a "CV" to basically its now WoWp. Its even more micro management, you literally now only manage one squad.
I would rather it have been a macro style gameplay, were you stay more focused on your ship, but manage for example: setting up CAP defence for your self and your fleet, build strike groups and tell them how to attack etc etc.

Crossfader reacted to Never in Major Server Migration Completed
Hello!
As many of you probably saw, we had a big server migration recently. Here's the low down of what happened:
As I have disclosed in a couple of posts, the database server ran into an issue where it ran completely out of space. The biggest problem was that the database engine we were using kept all the data in a single file, and that file could never be shrunk even if you deleted older records. This caused that file to grow bigger and bigger and bigger over time, until it took up all of the considerable space on that server (1.5TB). When there was no more space left, the database server would crash and the website would go down.
Fortunately, I managed to work with DigitalOcean to secure a great virtual server which meets all the needs of the database and the website in a single server. This is a 12-core, 48GB RAM server with 1TB of SSD space. The next step was transferring all the data over. This took the longest time. All in all, the database totalled around 5 billion records, and after removing the inflated space from the database engine, clocked in at around 500GB.
It took 3 days to transfer and import all the records into the new server, which now runs the latest versions of PHP and MySQL for better performance, plus it lets me clean up old records that aren't used anymore in order to reduce disk space, meaning there will always be space available.
Not only that, but as the website and the database are now on the same server, there is no more issue with the firewall tables getting reset, a problem which, despite a LOT of research, I couldn't actually fix. This was one of the biggest causes of the downtime in the past, as the database server started refusing connections from the website server at random.
All in all, you can expect WoTLabs to be MUCH more stable from now on.
Thanks everyone for all the support!

Crossfader got a reaction from pipamte in I give up... (after 8 years)
Glacier is a great example of a type of map WG seems to love to make.... the "bowl style" map. The middle is a giant no go zone other then a few hills/rocks and all the fighting is concentrated along the flanks usually in 2 corners. Basically 90% of the map is useless and fighting is reduced to a group of tanks headbutting each other in the corners, seriously think of how many maps simply break down to which side i need to go camp.
