You angling your tank is skill based and good, someone double-tapping 2 to break the game mechanics is terrible. You are literally not supposed to EVER penetrate something that's 25%+ stronger than your average pen roll unless you can change the angle of approach (using skill, that is - we used to call it flanking before prem shells were a thing). That big fat heavy gives up speed, agility, DPM, penetration, camo, vision (until tier 10, anyway) and accuracy as the major points in order to get 10% more HP, slightly more alpha and supposedly solid armor. So when you can hit 2-2 and ignore the armor while also holding an advantage in every other category as a medium, you have a serious god damn balancing issue on your hands. Why do you think almost every single good player drops the heavies in favor of whatever FotM medium there is? You can either play severely limited tanks like heavies, TDs and even cancer OR you can play a tank category which only limitation is very slightly less HP and armor that has the DPM to make that HP difference up easily by pressing the 2 key and bypassing all but the most extremely angled armor.
If you've ever played the Test Server, you know just how cancerous the game is when the 75% of the pubbies who don't drop cash or are good enough for a real CW clan are also pressing the 2 key. It's god damn unplayable. The 2 key is also a skill amplifier on top, which makes it worse. That 350 WN8 45% pubbie in the E-100 who blocks your path and you melt with your HEAT was still supposed to hold you off much longer but the combination of you having better timing and not needing to aim simply makes him food and completely useless.
When I started pressing 2 more, my WN8 obviously went up because I stopped bouncing as many shells but more importantly so did my WR. I now died a little bit less when severely outgunned because I no longer needed to aim, just snap snap snap. Likewise, nothing stopped me for long: That fat JPE, Maus or Ehundo who laughs at AP? Just HEAT through any remotely flat surface and it either has to move or die within a minute, completely negating the vehicle's role in the game.
Try imagining if a real PvP game like CS that had an ability like HEAT: Any one body shot would instantly kill you and you wouldn't need to aim for the head, so just go full auto with that AK or whatever. Or if we stick with a real armor equivalent, you can now shoot through walls, aka wall hack. Sure sounds like fun and balance to me
Prem shells negate anything with armor and removes the one limitation on the most versatile and efficient tank class. The mechanic was a bad idea from the start and people were already wanting its removal back when no one even fired them (due to actually costing gold, which was only obtainable with a credit card). In other games, a mechanic like this is called Pay to Win and although you can technically grind the creds out by playing 20 hours in a tier 5 tank, most people just buy a prem tank and/or premium account (that would be the paying part in order to obtain the winning part).

    Born 18/06/16 at 1913hrs, weighing in a 7lbs 3oz. Meet mini-Matra, a.k.a Theo

Both Mum and baby are doing well... tonight is the second night I have without them - hardest f*cking thing of my life leaving them in hospital - just whilst baby (and Mum) gets used to feeding. I hope to bring them both home tomorrow (the hospital parking is also like £20 a day!!).

It's unfair towards weenis to have an outburst like that, making it seem like weenis hasn't earned his spot as a sponsored streamer. You can easily make your point without dragging anyone else down. Weenis on that list makes a whole lot more sense than Tomosa and equals tbh. Weenis is a 'known' name on the EU server and wotlabs, and although he might not always deliver 100% quality play because of his part-time alcoholism, he has entertainment value in bucketloads. Also he's scandinavian dreamy.
X3N4 should also be sponsored because his recent even makes men moist, and he's a fulltime bae. His stream is good, super chill and he gives no shits about how retarded the chat gets. I'm a mod and will time you out if I don't like you, 100%. 10/10
And while we're on the topic; @shishx should also be sponsored. He is hilarious, derpy, skilled and a regular streamer. You'll get pubs, stronks and cw from one of the most known FAME youtuber/streamer/forum spammer. Shish masterrace.

Zinn reacted to Shade421 in GTX 1080 As tested by an actual owner...
So, as some of you know I have been rocking AMD's unholy abomination, the R9 295X2 for about a year now. I loved it. I'm actually considering framing it and hanging it on my wall as a shrine to my favorite video card of all time. I in fact bought a 980 at launch and sold it to pick up the 295. But, Nvidia has hyped their new GPU launch sufficiently for me to bite and order a GTX 1080 Founder's Edition. Why I paid the premium for the reference card will become clear later.
    First off, some system info:
So, anyone that has done custom loop water cooling already knows why I spent the $100 premium to get a reference design. Water blocks are typically only made for reference PCB's. If you are not going to water cool, DO NOT get the Founder's Edition. This is the only logical reason to buy one.
Size is not small, but it's significantly smaller than the 295X2. Here's a comparison:
It will fit in mid towers no problem. Smaller, you'll have to do some research, but that's the price you pay for small form factor building.
Ok so baseline testing. I am strapped for time at the moment, but will be diving in to a bunch of in-depth testing tomorrow since I have the day off. For now, I ran 3d Mark Firestrike (all 3 versions) using default settings and a quick overclock I got stable using MSI Afterburner, the same way I OC'd the 295.
My 295X2 was not a particularly good overclocker, but it wasn't bad either. i was able to run it stable all the time at 1089MHz core, and 1470MHz memory on both GPU's. Max temp was stable at 73C, thermal throttle threshold was 75C.
The 1080 I got seems to be a pretty good overclocker. So far I've gotten it stable at 2126MHz core, 5508MHz memory. The core clock is the max reported boost. GPU-Z reorts this incorrectly for some reason, saying my max boost is 1959, but Afterburner, 3dMark, and Unigine Valley show it as pegging at 2126 at full load. From the reviews I've seen, that's a pretty decent speed to get out of a Founder's edition. This is all with a 10% power limit increase. I will refine this and probably see if I can't get over 2150 on lower power limits when I have more time. Thermal throttle threshold for the card is 83C, but on a custom loop tht kept the 295 under 75C, this thing hasn't gotten above 42C, and is usually under 40. There's some headroom here to play with for sure.
So initial results compared between the 2 cards:
A big note to keep in mind here; the 295X2 scores here are the highest I was ever able to achieve with that card. Running for pure score, it was just getting it to complete the tests without crashing. It was artifacting all over the place, screen flickering, temp creeping up to 74C and only avoiding throttling because the tests ended first. I was NEVER able to actually game at these settings. All this while no shit actually raising the temperature in my house (not my room, the whole house) noticeably, and drawing something like 700W just for the GPU's.
The 1080 breezed through these tests with not a single flicker, artifact, stutter, driver crash, etc. And not once did it break 40C, all while drawing <200W. And this is a single GPU, which means far more stable and no dicking around with XFire/SLI profiles.
So, IMO it's very much worth it so far. If anyone has any specific questions or benchmarks they want to see, fire away. I'll be diving in to this head first tomorrow morning.
@BlackAdder the HEVC media file is downloading, I'll get that test to you as well.

    Hello!
To help deal with the amount of repeated topics that we often see here, I installed a new plugin that, when a user is creating a new topic, searches for similar topics based on the title the user wrote and shows it to them. This way, if their question has already been answered, they won't need to create a new thread.
At this point, there is no way to enable this feature on forum by forum basis, so it's enabled globally.
Also, general call for everyone to use the search function before making threads. Your question may have already been answered before!
    Cheers,
    Never
