I ground out my Myoko to Mogami, and did some T8s last night. Rewards were pretty good if you tried to be useful. The campers are all kinds of mad, but everyone else is drinking their tears out of jeweled chalices.

I had no problems with the economy last night playing in tiers 7 and 8.  I can't speak for 9 and 10 because I don't have any ships of that tier.  In most games I was clearing 130-150k in profit with premium.  There were plenty of people bitching in chat about the terrible new economy, but they tended to be the ones doing circles in the far corners of the map.

Even my DDs were making money.  I had a sweet game in my Benson that produced a 220k net payout.

Your sig has been a victim of the Pumpkin Spice Everything Brigade.
But seriously, I've been guilty of chasing my losses before. Sometimes breaking it is just as simple as going downstairs and making a cup of coffee before trying again. Sometimes it's taking a night off. Sometimes if I feel vexed by a particular ship(s) I'll fire up some youtube and look for some inspiration. Sometimes I just accept that it's just not my night for that ship and move on. (Atago, Cleveland, I'm looking at you!)
    Hope this helps!

I abandoned the US line after researching the Nawlins.  I have zero desire to play that ship and you'd have to divide by zero to describe my lack of impetus to play the Baltimore.

The default contour icons on the player panels are garbage.  If WG would actually put some effort into making them half decent (color coded by nation and with the ship name and maybe a hit points bar), I really wouldn't need mods anymore.

My point was that in this case, you don't need to research the torps to get to the Fubuki, it's not an "in-line" research item.  If you are going to give me something extra to research, it should be a value added item - not the stock torp from the next tier DD that is almost identical to what you already have.  It's a game design/balance point - don't give me pointless shovelware things to research - either leave it out, make it far cheaper in xp and cash for the small benefit, or give me something actually useful.
Forcing you to use the newer "C"  hull ( with less guns ) on the Mutsuki to get the faster firing guns is a good balance example.  I wanted the faster rate of fire, but I did not want to give up the guns - I had to actually THINK about which was more important to that DD's play style.  The Hatsuhara upgraded torp is a throw away no brainer, and in my opinion - bad game design.

This is reminiscent of the back and forth I have with my friends who have bred.  Our exchanges are light-hearted, but they indirectly call my selfish because I would rather travel or spend lots of quiet time thinking complete thoughts and writing or pursuing any of my other interests.  I counter with my belief that having a child is the single most selfish act in the world; that bringing a child into the world to satisfy your own desires may result in creating a person who, for one reason or another, lives a tortured existence of pain and suffering.  We trade bullet points, but the fact of the matter is that having kids works for them.  Not having kids works for me.  We're not going to convince each other that one of us is right and wrong.  The only thing that truly annoys me about some of my friends who are parents is that they can talk about almost nothing else, and they don't give up on trying to recruit me.  It is in rebellion against the ceaseless recruitment that I openly revel in having a noise/crap/barf free home where I am the ultimate master of my own destiny from moment to moment.

My friends who have children are always up my ass about when my girlfriend will finally get around to firing her babycannon.  I try to tell them that we are perfectly happy with no crotchfruit running/barfing/shitting around the house and they don't buy it.  I've come to believe that they are envious of the fact that we can sleep in, can spend money on things other than doctors and diapers and that our vacation time isn't all blown on sick days (since kids are fucking GERM FARMS) or snow days.  They have become disconnected from a care/shit/barf free life and are angry that we remain as a reminder of the terrible mistake(s) they have made.  I fucking love it.

From my outside observer standpoint, there's no possible way kids are worth the hassle.  In fact, I think they carry a mind altering virus that forces parents to not only tolerate them, but makes parents insanely proud of the most insignificant things.
Is there some justification for offspring, other than continuation of the species?

They did.  They're called destroyers, and to a lesser extent, cruisers!

And of course, it was eventually puzzled out that planes countered battleships in much more effective and economical ways.  Defending against planes became more important than armor.

Really, BBs have always been wasteful and largely ineffective.  They were simply viewed as symbols of a country's might.  They might as well have had signs proclaiming "Tremble at the sight of my surrogate dick!"  Their vulnerability to mines, larger numbers of lesser ships, planes, and eventually missiles has always limited their actual value.  Shore bombardment was probably their most effective use.

I've established some ridiculous rituals over the years to deal with WH and DnD dice.  I have one that is strictly for initiative rolls.  Nothing else.  One set that is similarly reserved for character generation.  My primary battle D20?  I've owned it for over 20 years now.  I talk to it.  If it goes on a cold streak, I wedge it between the back of my ear and my skull, until it falls out on its own, thus declaring itself ready once more.  Character stats are always rolled on a specific book, with exactly one  sheet of paper atop the book...

Yeah, dice fuck with the mind.
