  1. They didn't drop him, but Phelan (I think? One of the EU CMs) went out of his way to mention asking him to "tone it down" in their surrender post on the EU convoys thing. I don't believe for a second that they merely "asked" him to tone it down. WG only does heavy-handed, especially EU, and apparently "are you motherfuckers serious" was too harsh a reaction to them deliberately fucking an entire server for their delicate ears/egos to handle.

  4. This is why my solution to the high tier camping meta has always been a scaling down of effective ranges. It's too easy for too many people to focus a single target regardless of positioning. It really only becomes punishing at high tier. Sub-8 BBS lack either the accuracy or the gun count to punish at long ranges, and most sub-8 cruisers have floaty shells, trash stealth, or extreme fragility.   8. @surge753 That's more or less the correct way to play German BBS. The key to becoming really good at them is recognizing when that opportunity does and does not exist. Even the toughest BB will burn down under enough focus. The key is finding chances to bully without giving the whole enemy team a focus target.

  10. The original example here was 50 second runtime torps fired at a BB that some moron cruiser rushed at the last second. That's not "firing into a brawl area", that's "firing into the enemy team and some retard decides to rush into the middle of them". I shouldn't have to/won't hold shots for the sake of someone who MIGHT rush into the middle of the enemy team 50 seconds later. That's a hell of a different situation than firing torps as your Tirpitz is closing the distance.

  12. I agree with giving STs a reward. But not the Alabama. That ship has a lot of emotional attachment for a lot of people (not me, although I have visited it), it's been hyped by WG and requested both generally (SoDak class) and specifically since basically pre-alpha. I can understand being incredibly disappointed when WG basically says "Nope, can't have your favorite ship". Saying "YOU can't have your favorite ship, but this handpicked group can" is just salt in the wound. Chopping off tiers from a given tier's matchmaking will always result in unbalanced matchmaking, unless the population is MASSIVELY skewed into those tiers, such that games were already routinely filled with only those tiers before the change. Players who are just sitting at that tier because of the good MM are dwarfed in number by those simply grinding through them. The grind is the base model of this game, ensuring a healthy population across tiers. Biasing the matchmaker while having a normal population is the cause of this, not people "clubbing" in their 7s.
  14. That's kinda my point. Secondaries should be stronger damage dealers and weaker fire starters. The first question about any ship's secondaries is "HE or AP?" If they're AP, they're immediately written off (correctly) as worthless. That's shit game design. WG needs to design unique mechanics for secondaries instead of just treating them like any other guns, since they're basically ammo-locked CL guns, and ammo-locked CL guns are worthless. The fact that RN shells need gimmicky mechanics to even sort of work proves the point.
  15. Honestly I liked the concept of actual viable secondaries on a line, as I felt and still feel like they are too weak on most BBs, to the point of basically being an afterthought. These are too good though. "You will be on fire if you come within 10km" is too much. I get it, they're brawlers, but 10km is too far. I should be able to bow in on one in my norcar at 10km. That's basically the whole trick of that ship, midrange bow tanking, and the Bis just invalidates it by hanging 2 perma fires on you. Cut the range, buff the damage or RoF to compensate, and perhaps try to rework secondaries

  17. Concur with map. Your cruiser, gun DD, and BB numbers are all decent, and you have good to great prems in all but cruisers. Molotov was pretty good before they broke mid tier MM. Atago it is. On the other hand, the Blys and the Scharn are best in class prems under current MM, and among best in class period. You really don't NEED anything else when you have those 2, unless captain training is that important to you.

  19. The bigger problem is that the cool down is the same as a regular smoke, but only starts when it stops puffing. So instead of the first 90-120 seconds of the cool down happening while you're still smoked like with normal smoke, you get only 10 seconds of smoke-covered cool down.
  20. The Dunk is more dependent on its bow though. The others either have a heavier broadside, are tougher when angled normally, or both, so they don't really want to be bow in. The dunk needs to more often, so the overmatch hurts it more, relatively.

  22. Don't let bad players' play turn you off that line. 10 IJN 203s are a powerful basis for a ship, and the rest of the line is pretty good too. The HE does great raw damage on top of the great fire chance, and the AP can punish as well as any non-USN rounds.
