That's not true.
Purple players do almost twice the damage of an average player, just as in WoT. Same goes for winrate.
It is only different and you have to actually play a while to develop a feeling for it. In my opinion as a single player you more influence on the match outcome in WoWS than you have in WoT.

Make them explode when the game starts. All arty should just self-destruct automatically at the start of the battle. You could integrate that into the barrage animation during the countdown.

Do something you like. Weather that is playing games, doing sport or go to clubs ... your choice. But why do people value playing games to be a waste of time? How is skiing more productive? You spent time to make your life more fun. When I do something "useful" I do it to earn money and thus making possible to do what I want. Meating friends is just another "waste" of time if you could be working. You don't have to live after the expectations of others. It is your lifetime so spent it like you chose to

Lower tiers are more fun anyway. Now with the pearl missions, the high tiers are a bit deserted.
If you play anything above T5, you are sucked into high tier battles So either play T10, or max. T5. That is what I do at the moment.
Tried to finish my Myoko grind, started with 69K average damage, now down to 57K, because T9 after T9...with sometimes a T8 in between. Sucks.
