I actually quite like these changes, its WG thinking out of the box for once.
Yes the gun handling of these tanks is shit, BUT, buffing the gun handling starts encroaching on the French heavy autoloaders (and to an extent the medium autoloaders generally).
IMO the issues with the Swedish heavies were a combo of shit factors.
Bad pen + bad handling + slow clip + long reload.
You'd miss and bounce a few shots, the target would pull back before your clip had finished and then you couldn't do sweet FA for 30s.
I had some good results in the Emil 2 when grinding it, but by DPG started dropping below 3k because the thing just couldn't keep up with the pace of the game, you'd trundle to your position, get hull down, clip someone out, either the combo of slow clip speed or gun handling/pen would mean at least 1-2 of the shots does no damage, you go for the reload and by the time you were going through your next clip half your team is dead.
The gun handling on the T57 is a LOT worse than the Kranvagn, but it spits out damage so quickly it doesn't matter and at close range you absolutely brutalise people.
So this will work in a similar way, the pen is still poor so that is an issue, but you'll be popping out 1.3k damage in 5.5s and reloading ready to go again in 20s.
Less painful at medium to long ranges because you have the ability to put out for more shots so more will stick and more brutal at close range
It also moves the Kranvagn away from having to be in some awkward place between the the T57 and 50b.

Imho using female crews on any armored tanks is pointless. The main benefit of girls is not the free skill but BIA not counting as a skill so you get more skills for less. So use it for light lines or soft med lines.
Also obj140 is slightly out of meta imho

When I try to play the game, take some unusual spot, move forward, try to support best heavy tank (and etc.) I die horribly, maybe dealing 2 shot worth of damage.
When I camp at the base like a noob I deal handsome damage but boring af.

So I decided to see how audio modding is with the current version of WoT and decided to create a small mod that replaces the crew voiceover for killing an enemy tank with this little gem. The inspiration for this was shishx, who uses this effect in his videos; however, he does not use a mod for that but rather adds it himself during video post-processing. Since I haven't been able to find any mod that replicates this functionality, I decided to create this myself and upload it here in case someone else wanted to have a few laughs as well. The kill voiceover is replaced for all nations. Especially fun if you're playing:
Large boomsticks, esp KV-2 AMX 40 artillery In general sound modding seems to be pretty straightforward nowadays and the engine is quite versatile.

Yeah, pretty much. You need to go to your WoT installation directory, it contains a folder called res_mods. You need to unzip the contents of this quack archive inside that folder. Afterwards, just start up a replay where you killed a tank to verify the sound works OK.

So how do you feel about this map after the rework? For me it feels way more static now, going mid is a recipe for getting perma/proxy-spotted and quickly artied to oblivion, while the 1-2 line is easily locked down by a few big alpha TDs camping bush and the city seems hard to push without a decisive advantage in numbers there. So is it one of those maps now where you just wait and hope the enemy will get bored and fuck up before you do? Or is there something else?

nemlengyel reacted to Raj in Why shooting the side of a tank results in no damage crits
for you that have trouble understanding armor layouts of tanks, I have put together a small but helpful guide as to why your shells may not always do damage even when doing crits on low armor tanks! I have had to reroll 5x, and play tens of thousands of matches til I got hardly blue stats to understand the intricate system of armor in this game.
Here we have a pubby pershing, a typical specimen of the game world of tanks.

You as a slightly above average skill player think, oh boy lets get that damage! So where do you aim?

lets aim at the lowest part of the tank and try to track him! good boy, you surely will track him and get your goodboy spotting points while damaging him.
you fire, but oh no what's this?

you not only didn't damage him, you didn't even track him!

His track absorbed that module damage, and the shell had a trajectory below the actual hull of the tank.
better luck next time fellow unicum.

It's one of those maps that have virtually no early game because everything is so safe before people actually can take their positions. And literally no endgame either because the midgame is so long and every engagement takes ages to win. Because of it I normally take a passive approach until I get enough info. Middle is much stronger from the north side so from the south you can't really expect to do well there at the start when it's unclear if the enemy IS-7 will play mid or city etc
    North:
North is literally just play mid from beginning or yolo 1 line. 1 Line is a fast aggressive play that can work very well if you actually commit to it and don't play passive, but the progression is horrible after winning, you can't really fight with the middle (see video at the bottom) so you simply have to go back and into the middle again.
It's a very simple play though and works for when you have no clue what do to, but otherwise I recommend typical middle play:

This is just the standard free damage on heavies bushes from middle, and it works for a little bit but then I recommend passive mid play the ridge until you simply see an opening. Staying passive isn't the worst option either, you have plenty of shots just from the middle when heavies are pushing, or when the 1 line is getting pushed. Middle is just the place to be until you can actually push somewhere and that's different every game and sadly pretty hard to help with.. Good decisions and redlining helps
    South:
From south the only reliable early damage I have is from the F2-3/G2-3 area:

because stupid people are stupid and they cross at C2/D2 instead of going all the way back when going into the 1 line. This only works in tanks that can get there in roughly 30 seconds because otherwise all crosses already been done, you also have nice shots into the mid with double bushes from there, especially if you know what houses to shoot down. I usually stick around here until people stop poking from the middle. The only real problem is that you have a blindspot from the bushes in the back that are just outside of drawrange so in case of a 1line yolo from south you can't actually support it all.
From here the normal option is just to go into the middle:

once no more damage can be done here, I normally don't go mid right away because it's so vulnerable and the north has the middle advantage for sure. You have a nice lock on the heavies in several gaps between buildings but the fact that the middle is so crowded from the north side makes it super risky to play early, but a bit simpler when you have more info. If you can actually play the mid aggressively (the enemy mid players are low or dead) then you should just drive straight into the next engagement, middle is pretty useless once you actually won it.
If the 1 line has nothing commited to it but just campers in the back you can actually take it pretty aggressively and use the ridges to lock them all down and get sideshots onto the middle as well. I normally don't recommend city as a whole if you have any form of mobility. If you're able to clear the 1 line from south then the progression into the middle is super easy and the game is normally won by this stage already:

Explaining past these points shouldn't really be necessary, any angle you can lock people down on is where you should be after this, the game is rarely a city heavy game so in anything with mobility these plays are literally all you need.

Some notes as well, if the enemy team yolos 1 line hard you can stay here and lock it down very well:

I have a video example of pretty typical defensive play on Fishermans Bay:
This shows pretty well how the middle works. Now the game was exceptional but that's besides the point. Here I do almost everything but play the 1 line aggressively as I mentioned and it should be much easier to understand the angles you get and why I chose these places over others.

I care about game balance, but I also care about not being bored and only having a small selection of maps is a good way to turn this into a boring game. I personally dont mind if a few maps are unbalanced, as it is utopia to expect all maps to be 100 % perfectly balanced. I already find playing the current maps in a given map rotation pool to be a bit boring as there isn't a whole lot of variety.
Sure the new Fjords is not great in the balance department, but my experience tells me that random teams are not good/aware enough to take advantage of the imbalance. I am yet to win a game spawing east, out of about 10 games (granted I've played the UDES, so that doesn't help). Each time my team decided to lick windows and give map control to the west spawn. Small sample size, but shows that what the better players sees as a crazy imbalance, it not something that is seen by the average player.

Yeah I pretty much tend to have the same problems as the OP. As per others' suggestions I've been trying to focus on picking always the flank where we have an advantage since just having more bobs around you increases your chance of survival—trying to heroically defend against an overwhelming force on the other flank will just get you killed with 2-3 shots of damage and piss you off royally, while trying to lead a push is much more likely to result in breakthrough and victory or at least a tough but satisfying fight. If just 1-2 other tanks from your team go for hill on Tundra, and you go with them, you'll probably just get yoloed instantly and die so it's better to try and salvage something elsewhere even though the hill is such an important position.
Also I think it's good to avoid becoming salty, people can do ridiculous things in game but getting angry over it will just put you on tilt and also make you more prone on blaming things always on the team even when maybe you were out of position. In any team game there will be people who screw things up for themselves and by extension the team, and WoT is no exception—and even if it was really their ignorance that lost you a battle, it's not the end of the world, nothing will happen and you can ride into the next battle, get a new lineup and push for victory.
And I 100% second the part about using 3rd person mode for shooting—it does seem to be the way at snapping shots with minimal exposure and I'm disastrous at it (as well as shooting in general).
    Old, but gold:
