    As a Wotlabber, I'm ashamed of the bullying of a legitimate question by a select few. Then it goes as far as the OP getting shamed for his/her stats. Stat shaming is a two-way street. We all know this from first-hand experience.
    I'd understand if it was some tard like Gasai Yuno posting about his newly-penetrated body pillow, but really? A legitimate question that many of us think about and the OP gets stat shamed which ironically proves the OP's point - albeit wotlabs.

    Please realize that XVM is a modding tool for WoT. Many of the things that the vanilla client has nowadays were originally made by modders using the tools that XVM gave them.
    One such tool was the ability to contact a database hosted by some of the original creators of XVM that stored the official Efficiency Ratings of players and displayed them in battle.
    Again that is actually a small part of what XVM really is. In the beginning this service wasn't used a lot because you had to set up an FTP client polling a russian site which was somewhat difficult for the average person and also opened up a backdoor on your PC. But over time the mod interface of WoT and thus XVM greatly improved and many mod packs with automatic installers became common.
    Only THEN did a good number of players use XVM (estimated about 20% of all players used it at the height of it's popularity) but a good 50% of these only use the UI/Garage mods, not the rating.
    SO by the time the rating became widely used, XVM was providing a very valuable service to a good part of the community and thus WG didn't want to remove that.
    Nowadays the number of XVM users is dropping monthly. So many nice features are already in the vanilla client and many of the former try hards either left or don't care much any more.

    I came back to play some of this patch to see what it was like and I am finding tier 9 even more sweet than before. With MM ramming a big piece of splintery wood up tier 8 asses and MM having a hardon for all tier 10 games I am finding my tier 9's are top tier a lot and when they are not they have lots of tier 8's to farm anyway.
    Anyone else finding this?

    Lipstick on a pig bro. WG wants their data dirty and invalidated by history, so why try to futilely clean their sty? I know it's flippant, but I cannot think of a reason unless you're trying to practice munging and modeling for fun. In terms of outcomes...there's nothing more to be squeezed from that dataset.

    Generating WN8 values from data is an interesting exercise as you can tell from a few of the threads I've started here. My script (in R) is posted in one of the older ones. If you are successful in generating the values using the right method - and I assume you would be - the problem is what happens when, some months from now, something changes (new tanks, tier changes, buffs/nerfs, etc)  - and you are afk. We'd be here all over again. The reason we went to the averages was sustainability - no-one wants to do all these endless updates. Reinforcing that decision is that the change to most player's WN8 by moving to averages was less than 100; it's a 'so what' change. Finally, if it makes players happy to pad, have at it. Life is too short to play bad tanks, right?
    The one thing I'd ask is that if you do go down this road, follow the method published here and start with the code we used. If you use different filters, methods, or - worst of all - don't use linear models to align back per-tank performance to account level performance then you'll have a baseless WN8 spinoff like KTTC. 
    You might want to consider getting WN9 going instead. If you could get THAT up and running (RichardNixon the creator is long gone) then you'd be a rock star.
    EDIT: just heard that apparently our friends at xvm are ignoring our v30/31 values and creating their own. Hey, wouldn't it be great if every site created their own values?

    you are right tier 8 is in a bad a place with this new MM. I got only 17% tier 8 games in my tier 8's over 70 games. So bad. I am staying away from them.

    WALL OF TEXT WARNING
    So, this change to the game really was the largest while Ive been an active player (Started playing in 8.4, BUT I had no clue what was going on with the game until about 9.0) These changes affected
    1) Matchmaking
    2) Light Tanks
    3) Artillery
    I'll start with #1, and will probably skim over option 3 as theres a whole thread on it and WG should just remove the damn class already but I digress.
    Match Making
    The new MM featured several heavy changes, including some just introduced today. First, they removed the +3 from ALL light tanks, and gave them standard MM. Across the board, this was a big time boost. With the exception of preferential tanks and low tiers, its fairly 'simply' for MM to pair you up. Does this in 3 ways: 3 top, 5 mid, 7 bottom || 5 top, 10 bottom || 15 same tier. And with today's patch, WG is attempting to fix another issue and balance the number of each class of tank in the battle, and the top tier tanks will match classes (IE arty v arty, LT v LT, TD v TD, but pit HT or MT vs HT or MT, cause raisins) Further, there can be only ONE top tier arty.
    Since the patch hit, Ive played mostly my higher tiers including the Rhm Pzw (Tier 10 GE Scout). It seemed like most of the time, though, I would see a LOT of 15v15 in my tier 10s, and much more 3/5/6 and 5/10 in my tier 9s. Ive not played any premiums in public battles as I play those in pretty much only SHs. Most of the time Ive been in Light Tanks. Much of the time, the most common MM I got was 5/10 and never a 15v15 in the mid tiers. Tier 9's are even stronger now within the MM que, and I would image pref 8's are much of the same. Ive played about 50% solo, and 50% in platoons.
    Overall, with the patch today, I think overall this went the right direction with the exception of the constant 15v15 tier 10 battles. It seems great in theory and will mirror WG's attempt at a ladder system, you'll find more often than not its like dropping down to tier 5 battles. The VAST majority of tier 10 players are just dumb with their positioning and trading of HP because OMG IM A TIER 10 TANK WHAT THE FUCK HOW ARE YOU PENNING ME OK TIME TO YOLO CAUSE FUCK RAISINS are even more common. This is a good step, but needs tweaking which we're seeing from WG. PS, dont pad your overall WR in tier 9 platoons, thats my platoon's job, mk? kappa
    Scouts
    The easy part: Removing the +3 MM was AMAZING!!!
    The rest of the story
    Tier 9 scouts are in a good place. Gun handling was buffed for many of the tier 8's which became the tier 9's. They're balanced for their role, and are a delight to play. Ive played a TON of 13-90 and T49 battles, and really just had fun. A lot of others I play with enjoy the tier 9 RU251 and T54L. Do not know of anyone playing the tier 9 CH light as those people skipped to the tier 10.
    Now, for the other tiers... fuck those fucking worthless pieces of shit wtf were you thinking Wargaming, ruining my fucking fun like that you asswipes... um, gimme a sec... K
    Tier 5: Ballsacks removed. My original favorite tank, the Chaffee, is no more. My low tier US MT trainer, the M7, dead to me. The removal of their HP and overall handling just made them worthless. And, dont get me started on the ELC AMX. Like, wtf... At least with 400HP, if you get tagged by a tier 6 RU HT theres a chance you survive but NO NO NO NO
    Tier 6: Hello Type 64, you now have a V-Stab! You're perfectly balanced!!! Almost like, removing the +3 MM for most of the light tanks and changing it to just +2 would have balanced them in the first place... 59-16, your 57mm is still superior and I never played you like a scout anyway. But, my beloved T-37 was cut down in favor of a T21 as it has better VR and gun handling.
    Tier 7: Type 62, how i WISH i had you!!! You're now the superior tier 7 light! 13-57... well, 1480 base EXP is NOT enough for an Ace! I also have the least experience since the patch in this tier so thats that
    Tier 8: lel. Some people like them, others not so much. We've experimented with the Bulldog's mobility in 5v5 and 7v7 format, but the Blackdog is now king overall. I see no reason to have any of these tanks in my garage. I dont get what they're thinking
    Tier 10: Sigh. So much potential. So little living space. FR: Will not replace a BatChat in CW as a scout. GE: You need more ammo and slightly better DPM. Wont see use in CW. US: Ok, this one can still be fun but still, the 105 needs more ammo and slightly better DPM. Wont see use in CW. RU: lel VR, low ammo, poor accuracy. Why? CH: No opinion as I have not played. The stock 90mm on the tier 9 T49 is a better gun than most/all tier 10 lights. Sad sad sad state they're in. I will eventually have the Sheridan in my garage, but that will be the last tier 10 LT I will buy, leaving me with 1 last tier 10 I want for my garage
    To sum: WG could have had something amazing with Light Tanks adding a new layer to the game. Instead, we almost across the board got bland toned down tanks which just serve no roll which could not be done with a heavy tank or medium tank, especially in tier 10 this is most obvious. And really, the light tanks don't need much at all to have a better utility. Most of their issues could be solved by 10-20m more VR, 10 or so more rounds, and about a 5% increase to DPM and accuracy for guns with .4 or worse accuracy.
    Artillery

    Honestly, just bring it out. If you keep delaying it more and more stuff is going to come out which will affect it. If this doesn't get implemented within the next month this honestly isn't going to get implemented, period.

    I am pretty sure WG are trying to increase one sided games (fast games) and not decrease them. There are so many nuanced factors implemented into the game to make games one sided events. One of the easily spotted ones is almost all maps having an strong and weak side. Very few maps are balanced, if any? (maybe ghost town) and you would have think after 40 or so maps, this is a deliberate thing by WG.
    I am pretty sure WG want matches to be as fast as possible from a monetary sense. The perfect game would probably last just long enough to not piss off everyone but short enough that everyone has fired their gold rounds and headed back to the garage to reload them. My guess is 5 min matches would seem perfect to them even though we as players would like long games. I remember reading on the SS blog or somewhere that it was leaked WG watch stats like gold rounds per minute per map and this is one of the tweaking points for maps. 
    TL:DR Long drawn out matches are not in WG's monetary best interests.

    T-100 went from, wow this sucks in every way apart from agility/gun handling to god awful in every way apart from agility/gun handling. Shittiest regular/prem ammo by a massive margin + .46 acc. Hah, good joke.
    Sheridan wasn't changed too much. Kinda meh.
    Pz wasn't changed too much, but it already was just a worse Sheridan with better acc. So meh
    I never really liked the china LT much because I cant stand -5 gun dep on tanks that move so damn quickly. Feels like -3 with how much terrain will screw up your aim.
    Aaaaand alpha nerf across the board.

    I was trying to imply that going by the treatment of the Russian AW cluster is foolish, as WG treats their other servers like trash compared to their RU players. Which seems to be par for the course for Russian devs, as Gaijin adds a significant price hike to everything if you buy it from outside of Russia as well.
    Anyway, in my opinion Russians play this game instead of the ones you listed because they don't have to pay up front, after all people in Russia earn nothing per month compared to the US, and this game is about one of the most significant events in recent history for them. On top of that, you can comfortably play pretty much all significant WW2 vehicles with little or no investment. T-34s, Panzer IV, Panther, Tiger, Shermans, Hellcat etc. - all of these don't require a premium account to make ingame money and you get them after a fews day of playing. Significantly faster if you are willing to buy one month of premium, which is still significantly less than something like Overwatch costs. If you're in the game for historical vehicles going pew pew, you've pretty much got them all by tier 7, multiple lines don't even have any beyond tier 6, which you won't even lose money in with a standard account. So you can satisfy your need for arcade ww2 tanks without spending anything but time. Of course, if you get sucked into the 'competetive scene' these days or let MM grind you down, you can easily spend a fortune. But pretty much the same applies to idiots who need to get all skins in Overwatch asap.

    Finally got mine, only five games for now. But aside from the best thing to ever happen to this game, taking healthy ~900 health chunks every time they fire fart in my general direction, the armor is retarded, specially combined with it's gun handling (for a heavy).
