  1. Quoting the Quran is hate speech, apparently.

but it's Islamists who murder for their religion on a daily basis, not Christians, so I think it's justified to focus on the Quran.

Oh? Have we forgotten the Troubles in Ireland and the Yugoslavian Genocides so quickly? Its barely been 20 years... Then theres the LRA and various other *Christian* militias currently active in Central Africa. Its still happening on a daily basis, its just not the number one religious reason to kill people in the current climate (and y'know, Kony 2012 kinda demonstrated exactly how much the West cares about any part of Africa south of the Sahara).

Theres also been an uptick in Hindu based sectarian violence in India, there were Buddhist riots in South East Asia a few years back, no major religion is clean of recent violence.

You mean like the Muslim-apologist who quoted a favourable line from the Quran in a discussion with Tommy Robinson on a radio show

Kinda, the point Im trying to make here is that taken in isolation things can often be twisted to mean whatever anyone wants them to mean (and where reddit is concerned, usually are). So without context, its basically meaningless.

Religion may be a shitshow for all sorts of reasons, but trying to denounce a single group as being the worst is a suckers game. Just because one mob is more prone to crazy than another right now doesnt mean that has always been the case, and doesnt mean it will continue to be the case.

The difference is that the reason violent christian groups are violent is not really religion. There are other reasons for it. How else would you explain the fact that christians are peaceful in about 99% of christian countries. Islamists on the other hand occur everywhere, regardless of nationality, race, wealth, education.

And the majority of extremist Muslims also live in wartorn violent shitholes. That argument cuts both ways.

And dont try to claim that the middle east is a wartorn violent shithole because religion. Its a wartorn violent shithole because resources. Most of it isnt really very hospitable, outside forces keep interfering to maintain the flow of oil, and the map has been redrawn every decade since the fall of the Ottoman empire.

Large Muslim populations in more stable countries exist, and are mostly free of extremists. Look at Malaysia and Indonesia, which are majority Muslim, and dont tend to produce much extremism for some reason.
