Back in the old days, I went up the E 50m line first. The medium-heavy playstyle is more forgiving for people learning medium tanks compared to the typical medium tanks in the RU med lines. (Would Recommend E-50m/10) The only problem with the E 50m line:

If you're looking for a chill stronks clan, you should try joining SNEKS. A buddy of mine started it up only a week or so ago, and they've already got a decent amount of good players. (http://wotlabs.net/na/clan/sneks) As far as CW goes, they're only planning on doing campaigns, so you're welcome to farm reward tanks, but it won't be mandatory. Try leaving on good terms if you can. Just tell them you want to join a clan with players that can teach you. If you really have friends there, there's no reason you can't keep hanging out and platooning with your old friends after leaving. If that clan is the only thing holding you back from improving, don't make yourself stay. Edit: I would also suggest settling into a new group before you officially leave. Find some possible clans, platoon, run team battles with them, etc. This way you know it's the right choice when you decide to join another clan.

This applies to the elite vs mediocre in any profession/hobby/sport/etc.

You should buy gold and use it all to buy gold rounds. All the pubbies tell me I only have good stats because I fire gold, so that's probably the best way to spend your money.

This is probably the best laptop you can get (in the neigborhood of your budget). It will probably survive the CAD application you're talking about, but as mentioned previously, you need serious money for a workstation laptop (several thousand USD).
