Jaegaer got a reaction from CandyVanMan in Is WoT a good game(objectively speaking)?
WoT is a truely GREAT game ... IF you can handle it!
What some of our SuperUncorns here don't get is that WoT is not made for them but instead it is made for Joe Average.
However it throws these Unicorns together with Joe Averages and even Terry Terrible but at a price! The price is RNG, simplistic maps and 12-14 teammates that may be in the range of awesome to terrible.
The only other thing that I myself find terrible is the tiering system and the tier balance (even more than tank balance or arty). What this means is that in order to incite you to climg up the tech trees higher tier tanks get progressively more powerful over their lower tier competitiors. That means that tier VII over tier V is not such a huge advantage than tier IX over tier VII. After almost 20k games I find myself sitting in the same three or four tier IX and X tanks because I can't stand how shitty everything else seems to be. And thats boring.
WoWS handles that WAY better (even with +-2 MM) as the ships are way closer together power wise.

    Please stop buzzwording.
Again, steamrolls will always happen. WG could implement a complicated system to abalcne teams to make steamwolls somewhat less severe/happen less often.
How less severer and how less often is undefined. What is defined is that it would take a lot of work.
A lot of work for questionable, hard to quantify results will not pass any decision making progress in a game like WoT that has AMPLE other problems to solve.

Bought the Udaloi yesterday at the very last moment with the discount (had to free exp the last 15k and did free exp hull and range on the Udaloi).
Hadn't the time to play it. Prem Camo looks super snazzy.
Also after playing the Gearing with torp setup (torp module, torp reload with 16+17th skill point and torp accel instead of vigilance) I sold the Fletcher. Yes, Fletcher is great but Gearing is better and I have to keep Benson (although I don't like it for random at all - those 55knts torps are teh suck).
So I will likely keep the Udaloi and ponder upon the prem camo...
Witht he current MM you meet so many tier V and VI ships in the Kiev that have bad accuracy with players that can't aim. Your direct competitors are IJN DDs with very bad dpm (MInekaze + Mutsuki are just lol, Hatsu is better but still very low dpm) while Farragut and Mahan have almost as bad camo as you and at the ranges you uncover them they can't really touch you with their shell arcs.
That makes me feel the Kiev is WAY more sturdy than the Tashkent. Bensons and Fubukis can be a serious thread and Fletchers will hurt like hell because they can hit you reliably at the ranges you uncover them and you meet those WAY more often in the Tashkent than in the Kiev..
So, yeh, Kiev HPs are bad but survivability is still pretty good.

My observations are different. Played the Kiev entirely post nerf (what a monster it must haven been before...). It behaves WAY better than the Tashkent as it is basically a Tashkent with worse torps that is harder to hit one tier lower, meaning stellar MM right now.
I runt he Tashkent with CE now as I am often the only or one of two DDs of my team and the stealth nees to be high enough to take caps and vanish faster when the opposition is too large.
Apart from this the Tashkent seems VERY fragile. I litrally have lost my rudder or engine every single game during the last few days - most often more than once. Got into a huge amount of tier IX and X battles where ships are VERY accurate and fire chance reduction on BBs is high.
Like the 8km torps though which, again, because of stealth are very usable.
Still can't wait for the Udaloi. I kept the Kiev but will surely NOT keep the Taskent.

    That makes no sense whatsoever.
RNG is in the game exactly to limit good players. It doesn't matter that much that you know and aim for the correct spot 24/7 when RNG guides your shot into the Nirwana. But for the clueless pubbie that aims in the general direction of the enemy RNG can work wonders by guiding the shell where it needs to be instead where he aims...
Well. If you read these boards a bit then you might have stumbled over the Sandbox thread where several players speculated that WG will buff armor becaus ethat is what they aimed for with all the Sandbox changes - to make the game less deadly and less long range...

We need someone to push/promote WN9 to the XVM guys. XVM is what makes or breaks WNx - if they implement it, it flies, if not it dies - period.
It's only other chance is that WN8 gets invalidate should WG ever implement even half of the sweeping changes they tested on Sandbox (small chance, I know). This would change tanks so much that history based WN8 would loose any meaning fast...

    World governemnt? Lol.
If you take the EU as an example for a collection of vastly different states with old and mostly rich histories and the accompaniing unfounded pride, you see that this will not happen until people change fundamentally from occupiing themselves with irrational useless shit instead of thinking strategically.
    Best examples:
France - currently debating wether it should face globalisation or deny it... that will surely go well.
Britain - leaves EU over immigration laws... while having the lowest net immigration of all the big EU states...
Spain - debates if it should soften the outragingly restrictive working laws while having the largest unemployment rates...
Poland - occupies itself with nationalistic tendencies and questions like "is abortion or gay marriage a sin or not"...
And these states are among the so called elite of EU. Really, really sad and in effect a bunch of spoiled brats too stupid to face the realities which are that as an EU state you are no longer guaranteed a spot in the sun despite not getting much done.

Jaegaer reacted to GehakteMolen in Does anyone actually like the Tortoise?
Well, while i did like the AT-8, AT-7 and AT-15, (despite my concerns before actually playing) the tortoise was the reverse, quite high hope, because OP dpm and 2k hp AND good results with the other AT`s, but it turned out ``not good``, i do have 3k dpb with it, but thats mostly because it has 2k hp and (5,99 sec rld) 4,4k dpm, just r-r-r into 4 enemys, shoot, and you will get the 3k avg
The problem is the armor is worthless, AT-15 is the exact same, low alpha, low pen, same speed, same hp (more or less, relative for its tier) but it just works, because the armor is actually good, and even high tiers will troll bounce a lot on it (i really hate fighting AT-15, even in tier 10, so i just always load gold for them...)
    Just compare the armor scheme`s:

The tortoise gets a better mantle and an autobounce plate, but for the rest has the AT15 better armor, on a lower tier
Even the small tid bits, all benefit the AT15, Tort gets 25mm roof armor, AT15 38, wont make a diff vs tanks, unless on hills but it does vs arty, tort is a tad bigger aswell, and so is the loader hatch commander hatch, same the lfp is on both 228mm thick, but due to different shape its a bit better on AT15 as on tortoise
    But the colors say enough

People are still debating the fact that the Tort is shit?
Tier 9 + 10 is masterrace, Super high pen accurate guns mean most players know and can hit the Torts numerous weakspots reliably. And the very good dpm doen't cancel out lowish alpha, no turret and super slow in the slightest.

Right. I'm going to be doing my tiny ship reviews, because it helps me get my thoughts together.
    Caledon - Tier 3
I got a Kraken in my first game in a Caledon, but never really reached those heights again. Still, I enjoyed this ship – probably because I played it in a sea of Weymouths and other Caledons.
It most closely resembles the Tenryu, in that it's a quick, nimble, stealth and relatively long ranged cruiser with multiple weapon systems in a tier of lumbering barges. It feels more like a high tier cruiser than a low tier one. Unfortunately, it sees Kaisers, Myogis, Ishizuchis and Nikolais, all of whom have essentially zero superstructure and more complete armour that higher tier BBs.
That said, the guns really rip into the St Louis.
    Pros
Prettiest tier three ship. Damn thing is purdy Agile, fast, stealthy. Lots of ability to outplay Heal is novel The torp system is sweet Cons
You're not a kuma, but you have similar levels of citadel The guns are... underwelming – they're pretty floaty and feel difficult to lead You have very, very little HP and low dp
    Danae - Tier 4
    A Caledon but bigger.
That's it. Just the same ship, but with one more gun and the ability to see tier 5 ships. Oh, it has hydro, so that's nice. That matchmaking change made it feel worse, tier for tier, though, as the quality step up from dreadnoughts to superdreadnoughts is enourmous. That said, the quick, agile, fragile, spot is now occupied by basically every cruiser in tier. This is actually a positive, as it give you more ships that are likely to show you too much broadside and allow you to punish them.
Weirdly, in this tier I started experimenting with ignoring single fires ala Battleships. In fact, I found I was hitting the repair button a lot less frequently than in other cruisers.
    Pros
Agile as balls. Torp strikes are not your problem unless you're fast asleep. The combination of range/stealth allow for some interesting things This is the first tier you can really do the 'kill the DD' game You can heal Still pretty Yay, torps, I guess Cons
The armor is so thin, you can get citadelled by HE And dive bombers. In fact, dive bombers are terrifying The BB meta is still strong, and they ignore you until they delete you It felt like it took a surprising amount of engine hits

I had been thinking about a consumable for the royal navy, but it's one that could – I think – be a better way to affect smoke.
The thing to remember is that smoke clouds served two broad purposes. First, they blocked direct line of sight – or at least, the chemically generated (toxic) smoke did. The engine generated smoke was thinner and dissipated more quickly. It absolutely did not hide a ship, but what it could do was make it hard for fire directors to see the splashes from missed shells, making it harder to aim at a ship.
With that in mind two thoughts: a lesser 'smoke screen' consumable that does one thing – it prevent anyone from locking on to you. People can still shoot at you, but they don't get all the guidance from selecting you with X.
The second idea would be while smoke screens still block line of sight, if you're inside a single line of smoke, you'd still be visible, but again – it wouldn't be possible to lock onto you. (We could exclude destroyers from this, they can be completely invisible in smoke).

Really the only stat win9 should count is position on team. This will give you an idea of how good a players no matter how bad the players team is. It will also offset unicum platoons a little because someone has to come 3rd and 2nd.
Of course I am not sure if the api releases stats for position on team per game and it wouldn't alleviate the per tank problem.

Yeah, instead of nerfing and rebalancing to:
make the gap between tier 9/10 and the lower tiers smaller give meidums a more distinct role make like 10 useless tier 10 tanks more viable WG will now just buff all the crap tanks...
You know what i really ``fear``? that once all heavys got buffed, WG will just buff TDs back to what they where, instead of ``nerfing`` mediums (it was not nerf, it was rebalance), they just buff everything else.
WG devs understand very well that for the game health its of utmost importance that all the tards play heavys, not bat chat, not arty, not Fv-183, but heavys, in order to do so, they will just keep buffing heavys till that is actual the case. You better prepare yourself for an near endless stream of heavy buffs next months... (unless they still plan on doiing something with sandbox)

Was in a battle with this one when 1EarlyGrey captained it. He rushed a cap, we killed the DD there and then he got a huge blindshot hit inside his smoke (despite angling).
So, yeah, strong but situational. If you get caught in the open you better hope for RNG.
Still this thing will singlehandedly make it impossible to cap for any DD in the opposing team...
For sure - if only for the ability to pretty much delete any DD at one cap... Not sure if WG thinks that this is balanced.

Again, no. HTs should be easily penned to the sides but not from any range. Getting raped while trying to climb hill on Malinovka or get into city of llakeville is not how it should be.
HTs should get easily penned into the siedes UP CLOSE by flanking meds. And they should be less able to defend back.

    Dammi, im really awesome
2: my guess would be that the 103 is a turret with tracks, so that you can move the whole tank with the mouse, in order to allow it to drive proper (with wasd), i guess WG used the handbrake (x). So:
when you drive, you use WASD and cant shoot, when you park, and press x, you can move the whole tank with the mouse ps: unless WG took the effort to invent a whole new mechanic, which i doubt, since making a turret with tracks and only allow ``turret traverse`` when on the handbrake is much easier to make...
I even had the button you need to use correct!! (its the x button)

I very much disagree. Tier VIII is already in a very sorry state, being thrown very often against these "kill you ded hue hue hue" tier IX and X tanks. If WG would simply "rebalance gold pen" what would that mean?
Right, tier VIII tanks would be EVEN WORSE when not top tier. I really don't care if an Ehundo shoots heat at my STA-1, really, I don't. But how should I shoot back even a little with nurfed gold pen? On an STA-1 thats less maneuverable than many tier X heavies and can be killed dead in two shots from many of them?
