I didnt bring up that asshole here in the thread - pls read again. I was quite happy leaving the BS in the shithole called EU-forum. But it seems to me that certain individuals are quite happy throwing dirt around without having any kind of "proof" or solid information.
I also didnt bring up any teamspeak hacking or other incidents from the past. Just wanted to create a nice thread, because I found the articels written by KK3K and Laughter really good.

"so again in what universe does this mean "rigging the game in his favour"? "

I m not certain what you mean by that - sorry, what has that to do with universe?

What I meant is that he "rigged" CW-battles in his favor, while I was also playing arti or better said - looking at a wall of solid rock with my arti to protect it from some enemy tanks, which would have been beamed down there by Scotty any second. .

Folterknecht reacted to StranaMechty in Penetration loss over distance - Updated with all nations
Updated Post Stuff Alright, thanks to some assistance decrypting the .XML files, I now have all nations. I only included guns that have some penetration decay in at least one of their rounds, so most artillery pieces are not seen here, neither are any derp guns that fire exclusively HE and HEAT (Sherman's 105mm, for instance). The complete spreadsheet. - I update this every patch within a few days, check the document title to see what version it's on. Some notes on things I thought notableNo premium AP/APCR round is significantly worse at maximum range than the standard counterpart (excepting the SU-100Y's round which trades more damage for less starting penetration). Several rounds are 1mm worse or identical, one is 3mm worse, but given that the APCR round generally brings with it superior penetration up to that point and increased muzzle velocity, it is hard to argue that the round is a waste, it's just not as beneficial as one initially expects.  A not insignificant number of APCR rounds do not lose penetration faster than their AP counterparts, contrary to much previous documentation. Any gun that has a -% value in the "Loss diff." column has an APCR round that loses a lower percentage of its penetration than the AP round does. Now, thanks to higher starting penetration the absolute loss may still be larger, but some guns lose both lower absolute amounts and lower percentage amounts (American 90mm M3, for instance). APCR rounds increase muzzle velocity by 25%, seemingly across the board. Most HEAT rounds are slower than AP, and even more so than APCR. However, there are some exceptions (mostly at higher tiers) where the HEAT round is as fast, if not faster, than AP. The T69 is the most prominent, adding yet another bullet point to the "And they thought this was balanced how?" checklist concerning the release state of the tank. The fastest round in the game is the T-62A and Object 140's 100mm APCR. Eat your heart out, Germany. At 1535 m/s, it takes only 0.47 seconds for the shell to reach its maximum range of 720 meters, and only loses 10mm of penetration in the process. At 381 m/s, the 76mm KT-28 on the T-28 has the lowest muzzle velocity of any direct-fire AP round. Still not slower than the British 3.7 inch derp gun, though. Weapons that initially seem to be identical save for accuracy, aim time, and rate of fire (say, the gaggle of 122mm clones in tiers 6, 7, and 8 for the Soviets) can actually have some differentiation in their muzzle velocity. It seems that even if penetration remains the same the speed of the shell may go up with an upgraded cannon of identical caliber. I made a comparison of the nations based on velocity by tier. I've always wondered if Germany, the "sniper" nation, actually got something that might be of benefit for that. They certainly don't always have the best penetration in tier. I've not yet looked at whether they maintain the best penetration over range, though. So far just velocity.

The results break down in a fairly unsurprising manner. The early tiers (and years) are a bit of a crap shoot, but as time and tiers go on things settle down into about what one would expect. Germany has the greatest average velocity of them all, the remaining NATO countries all closely grouped below that, and the Dirty Commies bringing up the rear with their oversized and slow shells. I did not include arty in this comparison, or else Germany's average would actually steadily sink as they have a good number of arty with AP rounds. Germany's average at the end would be significantly higher were it not for the mediocre 12.8cm L/55 or positively pedestrian 15cm L/38. One of the weaknesses of the way the game mixes WWII-era vehicles in with Cold War specimens. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Old Post Stuff So I collected the contents of the American guns.xml file to see what variable determines penetration loss over distance. Tier? Caliber? Muzzle velocity? The answer is yes, no, and maybe. Copy/pasting my Reddit post....

take a RAM stick from you room mates  pc for testing. Before you do that - disconnect the PSU from the wall, press the start button 3-4 times, take out the battery from the motherboard for 1-2 minutes. Reconnect everything and try it again.

If that has no result, reinstall the CPU and check it and the motherboard socket for pins that are damaged or bent. If that leads to no result its either the motherboard or CPU.

    Laugher [EU] Part II
As I mentioned in my previous article the Polish players in Pirates roughly equalled 70% of our total players and although not quite as extreme the number of Polish players on the server was far above that of any other nation; you only have to look at the dominant clans at the time: 1SBP and 1PAD both Polish speaking clans and of course Pirates under the guise of being an international clan but consisted of predominantly Polish players. Now you may be wondering why I am explaining the cultural make-up of the server – but this plays a key part in the rest of the article, as Halfik once told me “Polish people enjoy flaming each other.” And that’s exactly what they did. After the tournament had finished the infamously hostile Polish section of the boards spilled over or I should say tidal waved over onto the English section for the first time, here is one (albeit the main thread) of the many flame threads:

    http://forum.worldofta...lute-division-discussion/

If you’re looking to brush up on your flaming skills I would reference this as recommended reading. I’m not entirely sure if the moderators cleaned that thread of the worst offences but it is what it is; basically a fight between Polish clans, Czech clans and Pirates, from what I can remember the issue was CS army had won a previous tournament(US open) which no good team had entered a team for so they came into Battle League expecting to do very well but instead they were removed from the tournament for what was essentially getting cocky and throwing his weight around flaming the developers for organisational errors. Other noteworthy drama in that thread include accusations of teamspeak hacking which at the time seemed obscured but in the upcoming tournaments we quickly realised clans were willing to stoop even lower; but that story will be explained in another of my articles, here is that teamspeak drama:

    http://forum.worldofta...page__st__680#entry355204

The reason why I consider this flaming so important is this marked the beginning of all subsequent clan related forum rivalry, something I have pondered over since the first time I encountered it on the cess pit people clan the WoW / arena junkies forums, I have concluded that as long as people don’t go too far (racism, person insults etc) and there isn’t a constant stream of flame threads then intra clan rivalry’s only benefit the community as it gives people a sense of purpose, a feeling of belonging to your tribe – which is only natural considering its ingrained in our very genetic code, and you’ll be dammed if those boons from X clan will flame you and your buddies on the boards. In Pirates history nothing good as ever come out of these forum wars and that’s why you’ll rarely see an old Pirates member get involved let alone seriously involved in these thread, something I look at when my need to flame builds up:

These articels were posted first in autum 2012 on odemmortis.net

Back then [PTS] was a member of the OM-Community, which isnt the case any longer. OM-C consisted of [PTS], [OM-V] and [OM-X]. The old [OM] was inactive at that time.

    My own comments:

Back in the end of 2011 PTS was nearly dead. Together with [ODV] (R.I.P.) and the old [OM] they had controlled the entire middle east on the EU-CW map for ages (Sandblasted Allience I). A running gag back than was that WG should rename Maysan LZ to Tortuga. Beside some trips to Europe to club some Smurfs [CSA]+friends and plunder Hessen, which resulted in a few of the best troll threads in the official forum, nothing was really going on, especially after WG got their retarded idea with the no landing rule. So at some point at the end of 2011 activity was very low.
This lead to a merge with [OM] and the number of german tankers in [PTS] was at an all time high.

PTS Arti party - they were really fun - replay from early 2012

The merge brought in enough active players to get things going again. At some point in 2012 a subclan was founded, to get all the potential recruits in - [MUMMY]. In the long run that didnt work out though and [MUMMY] now [OMNI] went its own ways in 2013.

On the CW side 2012 was dominated mostly by 2 big blobs fighting it out on the european part of the map, more than 40 clans going at each other. As far as I remember [PTS] didnt take much interest in it only paying short visits - no gold to make there.

Before the 1st campaign mid 2013, [PTS] made one of their Europe Tours, starting in GB and resulting in one of the last great forum troll wars, which is best illustrated by the following video:

credits to "Panzerstranski" for his mad photoshop skillz and "sirzorn"

After trolling around in europe [PTS] left the OM-Community, which had developed into Sandblasted Alliance II and moved its main base of operation to Turkey/Thrace region. The reasons are best explained in the following video - also made by "Sirzorn". Pictures from an other Round Table troll festival:

In the the 1st campaingn we formed an alliance with [KAZNA], [EXNOM], [EFE] and [EFE-X]. To quote our recruitment thread: "This alliance has made a clean sweep of the victors' medals from all four campaign stages and the main clans (EFE-X, being a subclan, graciously stepped back for their own subclan to grab the M60, sacrificing a place in the top 5) scooped the top 4 places in overall ranking. Of course all five clans have also received the special tank for this campaign, the M60 Patton. PTS itself has taken second place in the campaign along with first place in the fourth and most hotly contested stage of the campaign."

Shortly after the 1st campaign WG-EU in all its limited wisdom, decided to shut down the "Round Table" only leaving us with the General Clan Discussion and threads like "CW Battle Mechanis for landings", "Are clan war tanks only tier 10?" or "Recruiting pm and no reply". Thx WG-EU - but if I want to read about the bowel movements of the avg EU-tomato, I can just open up the general ingame chat or the corresponding forum section.

At the moment (september 2013) we are fighting off [sBP] incl. subclans, [bABA] and [PMHC] and are doing well. They seem to be of the opinion, that we re making to much gold (subtle hint: there never is a "to much gold" if Pirates are involved).

Hi guys, I was bored so I thought painting a target on my back might be fun.

Just a quick fact session, info I'd previously forgotten as to the 'why' of the account banning. I couldn't quite remember what Dakillzor did to provoke people in PTS this time, now I've remembered:

Around the time we learned of the Raattee account, Lukas had just started work at Wargaming. You might or might not know but there's a trial period there, at which point if you screw up it's no job and back off to whichever country you came from. I know someone who has failed this trial period and been sent packing.

So anyway, around this time we learn that Dakillzor has sent an email to someone in the WG office, a team leader or something, reporting Lukas for a supposed breach of rules on disclosure or somesuch. I don't know, I'm not privy to what information was supposedly leaked. What I do know is that it was a bogus accusation, you'd have to be pretty damn stupid to screw around like that while on trial.

There are a lot of white knights in here and on the official forums on Dakillzor's behalf, there have been since day one of this mess. So there's some food for thought; you all put Dakillzor on a pedestal and say "how could PTS take this so far?", how far is it taking it to try getting someone to lose their job...

Oh, and d'you know who the only person being hurt by this latest drama is? Zella, the unfortunate woman caught in the middle of this whole affair, the same one Dakillzor spent his time stalking and sexually harassing during his time in PTS. The one with a target now painted on her back by Dakillzor's latest attempts to continue the anti-PTS rhetoric on the official forums and beyond.

I put it to you that those of you defending Dakillzor or holding him up as a beacon of humanity and a victim; you don't know him, you aren't familiar with what he has done. I don't have a scrap of sympathy for him because I am familiar with his track record.

The threads on the official forum concerning this subject were at times amusing but mostly just sad.

As someone without any attachments to either clan - way above my league - I am left with the following impression:
A PTS member admits that 2 tickets were sent in about Dakillzor buying a new account. Dakillzor got kicked from PTS. A feud continued between him and some PTS members. He had given his account details to other PTS members (and possibly people outside of that clan as well). Sure all that isn't proof that someone in PTS wiped Dakillzor's account. But it certainly adds up to a strong suspicion. Some PTS members obviously had the motive and means to deal a truely low blow. And admitting to the delivery of strike no°2 only strengthens that suspicion. Again, this isn't conclusive proof but to a bystander it certainly sounds plausible.

That being sad, I understand Folterknecht in many points:
Dakillzor created the opportunity for his account neing wiped himself. I can understand that in some top clans account information is shared under certain circumstances. But you have to be incredibly stupid not to change that information if you leave your previous clan on bad terms. It is pretty unrealistic to demand from Folterknecht to clear the PTS name. If any PTS member was the culprit and admitted it, I would suspect the clan leadership would sanction him and for that very reason the culprit will stay silent. If someone outside PTS wiped the account, Folterknecht has virtually no chance to find out. No offence, but this idea reminds me a little bit of Xensation's transparent crap on the official forum. It roughly went: "PTS members should leave their clan because of their leadership wiping the account/condoning it". Translate: "please PTS members weaken your clan and join the clan with the three little girls on the tag." Final point: the whole affair is bad PR for PTS but it seems unfair to attack a common clanmember over this stuff.

Folterknecht reacted to Never in WoTLabs Replays
After many months of planning and development, I'm happy to announce that very soon WoTLabs' newest service will be launching, our very own replay hosting website!

There are a couple of replay websites out there, and as everyone knows, in order to get it going it has to have something different. WoTLabs Replays will keep with the spirit of WoTLabs, encouraging high level play and promoting improvement. The grand feature of WoTLabs Replays will be the Replay of the Week.

Every Friday, the top replay for the week will be selected according to a criteria chosen the previous friday. Criterias may include, but are not limited to:

    - Top base experience
    - Top damage dealt
    - Top spotting damage
    - Top potential damage received (while surviving)
    - Top kills

The winner of the replay of the week will receive a gift of 1250 gold.

Of course, there are some details:
    - One replay can only win once
    - The match must have been played during the week of the contest
    - Base experience will be the tiebreaker on all cases, except base exp itself. In that case, the winner will be manually selected.
    - Replays from NA, EU and SEA will be accepted for the contest.

Other than that, the website will feature image generation for sharing on forums, accounts tied with your WoT / WoTLabs profiles, plenty of search filters and a nice, no bullshit layout.

Stay tuned for more stuff. I expect the service to go live in about 2 weeks or so, if not sooner!

Are you really that stupid or are you pretending????

Someone (as in one person) from, the clan Pirates (gathering of players under one name) has deleted/wiped/destroyed/banned both Dakilzors accounts. Im also sure that quite few (more than one, less than many) people from Pirates know who did it and probably are ok with that (actually not reporting the person who was loged in the account at the time of deleting of crews and tanks is the proof of that)

I know you are relatively new in pirates, trust me they are not all that cool as you think... i should know, been in pirates for almost a year.

Folterknecht reacted to ColdSteel5A in Aspiring to Mediocrity
Hey ya'll.  I posted this on WoT forums and recieved a positive response.  Wanted to share it here as well and finally had time to cross post.
    ----------------------

I have risen from the lowly depths of a 44% win rate up to the rarified heights of mediocrity at 48.32%. Now that I am nearly in the top 1% (of the bottom half) I thought I’d share some lessons learned for others who are interested in improving.

Accept responsibility. YOU are the only person responsible for your win rate. This was hard for me because I was consistently on teams of idiots who could not win the game after I died. Once I understood this fact (thank you WoTLabs), I started concentrating on surviving longer and having more of an effect on the battle. (19% survival rate up to almost 24% now – 100 dpg up to 400 dpg over the past week.)

Hardware: When I started, I had a stock computer. I played my first 1k games at 6-8 fps, dropping to 2 fps when in bushes. After getting enough experience I upgraded my video card thingy for $50 and I now play at 50+ on a regular basis. HUGE!
Tiers: This may be a common theme, but when I started, I bought a tank, ran it enough to fail to the next tier, and bought that. You see, as a Tier II, I kept getting obliterated by the Tier IIIs which were so cool. Then, as a Tier III, I kept getting obliterated by Tier IVs and KV1s. So, I failed my way to the top of Tier V. Then, I had my epiphany. So, I went back and played my tanks up until I was winning more regularly and learning how each tank fought. There’s a difference between a M7 and a M4 with Derp. Lesson I learned was to stay at the tier you are comfortable with until you get comfortable. Seems to be a common lesson learned prior to finding these forums. Now, at Tier IV in an M8A1, I can regularly do 800 pts of damage and take out more than 1 enemy vehicle. At that point, I feel I’m pulling my weight and then some at that tier. I’m currently playing mostly Tiers IV and V with a couple of Tier VI.

Dying quickly: I touched on this earlier, but it bears repeating. At 1k battles I had a K:D ration of .25ish. I would go out, see the other guys, shoot one, once, and die. Now, I concentrate on getting where I think the other guys are going, getting set behind cover, moving out, shooting, and moving back. Relocate after every shot (unless I know I’m an invisitank). These things have helped up my K:D ration to 1.2 over the past 1k games. WOOT!

Game Mechanics: Read the wiki page on game mechanics. It lays everything out better than I can. I didn’t read it until too late. Camo and spotting is huge. I now platoon with people and it stuns me when they don’t know the view range of their vehicle off the top of their head. View range and camo ratings, imho, is more important than knowing your AP and damage. How else do you know if that enemy tank can see you and whether to take the shot at their front armor or wait until they turn their flank?

    What would I do again?

Against popular opinion, I have found that playing Light Tanks to be extremely beneficial. At least after I learned the mechanics of the game.

LTs helped to teach me the camo rules, spotting rules, and made me focus on learning the weak spots of Tier V, VI, VII, VIII etc. tanks. Then, when I went back to playing Meds, Heavies, and TDs, I was much more effective with shot placement.

LTs also taught me the maps and where people tend to go. By learning good passive scout spots and where those dead spots are, it helped my ability to maneuver around the maps and not be seen. Also, when playing other types, I knew where to go (or not to go) based upon being able to watch in other games.

What am I currently working on?

Target Priority. I have a problem in that I want to shoot the biggest thing out there. If I’m in a M8A1 and have a choice between a KV1 or a Hellcat, I’m likely to load gold and shoot the KV rather than use regular ammo on the Hellcat. KV1 is Bigger URRRRR. I have rules written out beside my computer to help me:
#1: One Shotable, armor allowing regular round.
#2: Larger hit points, armor allowing regular around.
#3: 1 Shottable, armor requiring gold round.
#4: Any target requiring gold round.
My goal with this list is to : #1 – Remove opponent’s guns from the table. #2: Reduce the HP on other targets to 1 shotable range. #3 - Get easy kills on tougher opponents. #4: Reduce enemy HP pool. The reason for this priority is that I have seen many times where you start an engagement with equal number of tanks. Everyone focuses on the toughest tank. Half the shots bounce and it take 3-4 volleys to eliminate the tougher tank. In that time, the other vehicles on the other side have had 3-4 volleys and have changed the balance of
    vehicles to an unfavorable number.

Example: Churchill, M8A1, Marder II, and a M4 are all lost and crossing the bridge at Pearl River facing the exact same thing defending. If the attackers focus fire on the Churchhill, it will take basically 2 volleys to kill it. If the defenders instead focus on the Marder, M8, and the M4, at the end of the 2 volleys, the attackers would have a Churchill and the defenders a M8A1, Marder II, and an M4. Should be an easy win for the defenders with 2 vehicles left.

Situation Awareness: This comes in 2 parts. First is tracking what I see in front of me, and the second is the mini-map.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been set, watched somebody roll in front of me, killed 2-3 vehicles, and then pulled out around a corner into a gun I should have known was there. Frustrating. Very frustrating. I’m currently running without any mods (gimping myself). Not because of any noble belief of keeping the game pure – I just can’t figure out how to download and install them – or have confidence in any sites. Call me a DAT. Dumb Able Tanker. (Or something like that.)

Second is the mini-map. I’m beginning to see things as they happen. I recognize when too many people are going a certain way (into the VoD for instance). I can recognize that a flank failed and that the other guys are heading towards cap, but I’m still not turning around until the siren sounds. Now, I’m working at responding to the map before it is critical so I stop resetting the cap at 99, or killing a guy after it flips.

Tiering Up(Leveling): Now, I’m working at getting my Tier Vs up to a 50% win rate while playing some with a couple of T6s. I still grab my daily doubles on my Tier IVs as they are going to be my crews when I hit Tier VII. My goal here is to learn the maps and learn the tactics. I have Tier IV and V scouts, so I can see how the gameplay changes at the different levels. BTXII is radically different from BT V. (Yes, I’ve been the only V in a game of all Xs – twice).

I hope this helps other bad players see how someone else is dealing with the learning curve, offers some ideas on ways to approach the game, and gives thoughts on different things to work on.

But if you take this into account, then you lose the sense of equally measuring players irrespective of their tank choices. You will once again give larger scores to people playing OP tanks that can carry and influence matches the most...

Spotting is a good indicator of aggressiveness. It really tells you something about passive/active gameplay, whether the player creates opportunities or just waites for others to create them.

It will probably be driven mostly by A1 bush camping faggots. I move more in my artis than some of those donkeys.
