    PUBBIES HATE HIM!
Find out three simple steps from a stay at home unicum to carry pubbies at 60%, 65%, up to 75% solopub win rates!

    1.  Brutalize tier 6/7/8 meds.  Your blend of alpha/armor/quickness will straight up murder pubbies.  Do it quickly and decisively, and crush their morale.  Dispatch them quickly and start the rape train rolling.  Don't think too much just smash them.

    2.  Be extremely Adept at fighting other t8 heavies/TDs.  Invest a lot of time learning weak points (triple overmatch dat forehead bby), best angling spots, reload timers, and so on.  If you can punch out ~1.5x your weight in t8 heavies per game (and they are plentiful), you will easily carry at unicum levels.  And this is very much doable even as a growing greenie.  Aggressively seek out the main combat spots and reap the advantage.

    3.  Run for your life if you see any of the following tier 9s:  E-75, STI, Vk45, E-50, T-54, WZ 120, M103, Tortoise, or T95.  I'm serious.  Even a very skilled player will struggle to defeat these tanks in any equalish fight -- you must fight them on your terms.  Drag them into a crossfire, call down cancer, let your tier 9s fight them, or at a minimum don't throw away your tank in a futile attack on them.

Three dwarfs are drinking vodka in the park, but suddenly they ran out of drink and there was no money to buy another. One of them speaks:
    - Listen, not that far away from us there is a Guiness record competition hosted and we can win some money. I have a smallest hand, I'll win and we can buy more Vodka.
    - I have a smallest feet in the world, it's another bottle for us! -shouted second dwarf.
    - Wait, I have the smallest dick you can ever imagine, so it's 3 bottles!
When the dwarfs arrived, first of them enters the contest, in a second leaves happy and shouts:
-I won, I won, we can buy one vodka!
Second dwarf, same situation occurs. Last dwarf, the one with the smallest dick, enters the contest, few minutes passed, he leaves mad, pissed off and asks: Who the fuck is Xensation?   Courtesy of Artur1337.

Platypusbill reacted to Rexxie in Top o' the Tree: IS-4 yay or nay?
The main difference in gun handling is the aimtime. The IS-4 actually has worse bloom than the IS-7 (at least by numbers, the IS-4 is slower too so it may be better in reality), it's just.... snapshotting with both tanks sucks, and if you don't want to snapshot with the IS-7, you need to aim for years.

IS-7 is the better tank. Outside of sidescrape positions, it's armour is better. It's faster. It's more agile. The gun is supposedly worse, but not strictly - because it punches harder, there are times where it'll be better than the IS-4s. However, the IS-4 is the smallest T10 heavy and has a fuckton of HP despite that. The side armour is also wtf. You see an IS-7 shows its side to you, bam track + damage through the front wheel, only 170mm of armour stopping you. IS-4 does the same thing. Looks like you have a pretty good shot, he's super overangled, BAM 250MM ARMOUR. It's really weird. It's like almost E-100 side armor without actually looking like it. People will constantly fuck up trying to get past your side.

Okay, so in that situation where you're being penned every shot, would you rather have the 2150 HP heavy that needs to be within ranges where it's hard to ever miss, or the 2500 HP heavy that can fight either up close or at range? The IS-7 is abysmal when it cant force bounces. The HP burns away super quick and the gun isn't going to keep up with anything, meaning you'll have like 1500 damage by the time you'll die.

9% advantage to HEAT in the same scenario. Most HEAT rounds have 330 pen though, in which case it's 12%.

It's pretty easy to figure out, really.

At just under 70 degrees (where APCR's normalisation gives the biggest advantage but it does not autobounce yet), the armour multipliers* are 2.67 for APCR and 2.92 for HEAT. HEAT needs to punch through 2.92 / 2.67 = 1.09 times more armour.

    HEAT has 250 pen, APCR has 217 pen, HEAT has a 250 / 217 = 1.15 times more pen.

Thus, under the least favourable conditions (not counting spaced armour), HEAT has 1.15 / 1.09 = 1.06 times more effective penetration. Under ideal conditions (flat plate) both have the same armour multiplier and then it's of course just the base penetration difference (1.15x). And if the target is distant, the gap becomes greater because APCR suffers heavy penetration dropoff while HEAT has none.

TL;DR HEAT is better in terms of raw pen, its only drawback is the potential of derping into tracks and whatnot.

Platypusbill got a reaction from efe_tr in As I suspected, SP armour got nerfed.
First, pay close attention to this formula.

The SP's spaced armour is 38mm thick, and as such 76mm+ guns get ever increasing normalisation bonuses against it. The old model was a bit dumbed down in that the second layer of spaced armour was merged with the main hull (that area being 38mm thicker than the rest), but the new model has two separate plates- meaning that this effect is applied twice. Not only that, but the angles are nerfed as well. Summary below.

Because the calibre of the gun affects normalisation and you have to calculate each plate separately, it's a PITA to check the effective thickness for multiple areas/scenarios, but for example protection against 105mm AP dropped from ~243 to ~217 on the strongest part (double overlap zone on UFP).

Platypusbill got a reaction from AntiZig in As I suspected, SP armour got nerfed.
Normalisation as a whole is bullshit AFAIK. Before modern APFSDS rounds (which are not present in WoT), shells tended to skid and deflect away when they hit well-sloped plates, so the effective armour was actually in excess of the line of sight thickness. Shells magically rotating 45 degrees upon hitting a very thin plate also seems illogical.

It is easier to penetrate multiple thin plates than a single thick one though. A shell needs to push the steel out of the way as it goes through the armour, and it's easier to push if there's an empty space behind the target instead of more steel.
