I have 8 industrial purifiers running at the castle, I use purified water to pay for things now.

Cost isn't the issue, downtime is.

The problem with the A-10 is it's rapidly becoming a maintenance queen. Also the F-35 is a plot to kill off all of the Marine's pilots so they'll stop asking for dumb shit.

This is unintuitive for people comming off WoT but engine shots aren't actually particularly effective. Sure you'll trash their engine, but the engine itself (and the firewall behind it) typically will stop the shell from going farther, leaving the fighting compartment undamaged and enabling the crew to shoot you back. That said if you can start a fire it's pretty much a death sentence thanks to the ENTIRE crew having to pull the fire suppression handle for a good 10 seconds.

Ok so after playing the hellcat for a while, that number is a bit misleading. I'm not sure exactly what it is but the APCR seems to have serious issues with angles, it could just be me though. Hellcat is still fun as hell, fantastic mobility +reverse speed and a good gun. RB currently consists of germans and russians getting demolished by hordes of hellcats. Nerf incoming.

Also the hellcats get 200mm+ pen APCR

Excess food production adds to your income, up to however many people on that planet actually eat food. For the longest time, mass drivers were the best weapon ever. They kind of still are but they get an accuracy penalty at extreme ranges now. Also Opteris have the best hulls.

Why have multiple ship types when I can just build massive fleets of battleships with 16 mass drivers each? Literally nothing can get through that many shells. Keep in mind I'm playing on brutal.

I don't use fighter bays, they take up too much room that could otherwise be used for more mass drivers.

Ok so I'm toying with the idea of replacing cybernetic with photosythesis. While it does come with the downside of not being able to ignore happiness and feeding an entire colony off 1 structure, it frees up a fair amount of points for other things. Additionally not having emotionless citizens does provide the oportunity to boost productivity by getting their happiness over 60%, which is nice. I also hit the "randomize personality" button, and ended up with expansionist evil polops(the plant people) next door, and they REALLY wanted to go to war...... But then my slaver ships arrived over their home planet.

Creative is seriously powerful. I'm not sure how it would fare on brutal because you have to make a lot of sacrifices to get it, however you get 2-3 techs for the cost of one and the AI will constantly beg you for techs, (literally as soon as your tolerance gets low enough, it's actually a bit annoying after a while so I recommend going full scale exterminatus on one of the weaker ones early on just so they shut up) which gives you the chance to demand money/trade/non-agression pacts. I'm about to start a new game as Opterrorist Master Race, but I'm rebuilding them from the ground up, going to try to create the "ultimate" race and take on brutal difficulty with them.

They have the smallest ships by far. (the opteris cruiser is the same size as their battleship) so with the way the command point system works they end up woefully under-gunned. Plus they take a 20% durability hit to all of their ships because of their racial abilities.
