  3. Your original point was that the 54 was the most popular tank. That's false. Secondly RE: E50 and M46. Vehicles popular among Wotlabbers (tiny fraction of a percent vs total NA server pop/Global server pop) generally represent tanks min-max minded players find the most powerful at any given time. That's hardly representative of server or global server trends. Secondly as one of the more famous/infamous tanks in history, the T-54's popularity is definitely affected by the thrill of playing a famous tank. There are many other possible ways to interpret data other than popularity being indicative of in-game usefulness.
  4. E8's point still stands. 62 and 140 are still considered one of the more desirable tier X tanks in general and very desirable tanks for CW ergo many T-54 games played to get them.
  5. How are you measuring popularity? Total games played all time? Recent games played? Pre-HEAT nerf T-54 (circa 2013-2014? holy balls has it already been that long???) was one of the more OP tanks of all time, but that nerf plus turret nerf and physics brought it down to the level of very good instead of being essentially a tier 9.5 tank. Ninja'd by E8. Agree. I had to play what...~450 games just to unlock both the 62 and 140? Total games as a measure of popularity needs to take that into consideration.

Ground through the tank before its turret got buffed and loved it so much I reground a new crew to keep it before I stopped playing WoT altogether. Played it a couple times since the buff and the new turret eliminates the biggest hindrance to this tank's optimal play style. T54E1: 16T30: 14 M46 Patton: 34Object 704: 5 - 3= 2 I've bought and rage sold this tank 3 times now. Even put a 4.5 skill crew in it. Nope; bad gun handling, derpy shells that love finding tracks for no damage, mediocre to bad all around tank handling, global camo nerf makes the easily perforated armor too weak to compensate for glacial aim time at medium ranges and to keep the tank alive in CQC. 750 alpha alone is overpowering enough at tier 7 and 8 to compensate for all the other deficiencies of the SU platform and make them very dangerous; not so much at tier 9.   8. I've also been very frustrated by the Mutz's turret armor. I don't really expect much of anything against equal or higher tier tanks, but last night an AMX 12t managed to pen my turret twice with AP despite the fact that he was in a small valley shooting up at my hulldown Mutz. Overall I like the tank; having been a fan of the Indien Panzer, the Mutz feels very comfortable and familiar. It's just that I personally can't really think of a good enough reason to buy it. On NA West at the times I play, regular tier 8s in general and mediums in particular get shafted by endless tier X matches so it won't be particularly fun to play. It's not even a good enough credit maker that I would consider using it to grind credits over my Type or 34-3.
  9. I see this statement thrown around as a simple fact very often and I find it irritating because fuel consumption is not simply a matter of engine size. For example, small displacement, high rpm petrol cars like most Japanese cars ARE very fuel efficient under normal city driving conditions AND if there's little weight in the car. However the opposite is true at highway speeds (where the speeds limits, in the US at least, are generally between 96-112kph.) and hilly/mountainous areas where the car has to downshift often to maintain speeds AND/OR if you put a lot of weight in the car. I had a Toyota Corolla with a little 1.6 ltr engine that DID get 30+ mpg on the highway IF I was by myself. If I loaded up a couple of people in the car with their gear, all of a sudden my gas mileage dropped down to the mid 20s at best. I put the same number of people and gear in my Mustang with its horribly inefficient 4 ltr V6, and I got almost the exact same highway gas mileage as my Corolla did. Especially in hilly/mountainous terrain, larger displacement engines are more fuel efficient since their torqueier engines won't be under heavy load and can literally cruise up hills at relatively low RPMs. Highway petrol mileage is more about aerodynamics and gearing and less about engine displacement, although larger engines do still have an advantage since their RPMs will be lower at the same speeds than a car with a smaller motor. Of course things like turbos and fuel types do change the discussion somewhat but that's not really a concern of yours ATM. Also the main reason Japanese cars have such a reputation for reliability is because their engines are incredibly overbuilt for their displacement, something you don't find in most European and American petrol motors. IDK what petrol vs diesel prices are for you over in NZ or what limitations, costs, purchase premiums etc diesel ownership brings over a petrol car, but if you can afford it, get a diesel. A diesel's gas mileage will be significantly better than a petrol equivalent at highway and hill/mountains while being significantly more torquey so you can get off the line quicker. A good, well taken care of diesel engine can last for as long, if not outlast a Japanese engine. Right now I have a 2.0 ltr turbo diesel Chevy which comes stock with 151 hp and 264 ft lbs torque and I averaged around 50 mpg on a 600 mile highway trip doing 80+ mph which included crossing a mountain range. I can get a tuner for my engine and get an additional 30 HP and 70+ ft lbs torque at 2k rpm while INCREASING my gas mileage by roughly 15 mph on the highway.

I was a 100% sure that the pen drop over distance nerf was a evil WG conspiracy that our glorious Comrade Strana had uncovered until I remembered that this is the same company that fucked up the 62a turret for half a patch because someone "apparently" saved the wrong turret model to the wrong save file and who also gave us the missing hitbox floating turret 53/55 because...."whoopsie!!" Now I'm just 99% sure it's a WG conspiracy.
  14. in addition to what the others said, WG has stated in the past that reward tanks are fair game when it comes to rebalancing stats. The only tanks that WG won't nerf (without offering refunds a la Super Pershing) are premium tanks bought with real money.

  16. The very first time I saw a Maus I was in a 38nA. I had only been playing a week or so and I had no clue what the fuck that massive thing was. I always laugh when I see players who've only started playing in the last couple of years whine and whine about "OP" tanks. Ya'll have no idea what truly OP tanks were like.
  17. While 215 games might seem like a lot, I believe it's still few enough where at least some of it can be attributed to sample size. There's also the play style aspect where certain tanks just might not fit you. Then of course there's the mental aspect where repeated failures feeds your complex which then induces more failure. Take myself for example. At ~250 games, my 62a W/R was sitting at a sub bot 45%. I LITERALLY could not make the tank work, I absolutely hated the thing and stopped playing it entirely. Then one day I played it and it just "felt" right. Now @ 553 games, I'm sitting at 62%. Also post some replays so people can look at the mechanical aspects of your gameplay.
  18. Someone's heavy got HEATraped one too many times? Speaking as someone who has played the vast majority of his games in meds, this pen nerf doesn't bother me at all and certainly won't make me leave the game; it makes me sad, but I've been around long enough to be used to the cycle of nerfs/buffs. What WILL make me leave the game for good is the return of the bad old days when arty parties ruled supreme as all the shitlords decide to feast on the new bounty of slow, easy to hit heavies.
