  1. Incredible. Just came off of an amazing 7-0 run in the AMX 50-100. Scored 8 kills, and had some decent damage output as well. It's strength is standing off, and being a support. Trying to lead a rush is pointless, but so is staying so far back that you don't spot anyone. The tank has decent mobility, so it can flank, and, if needed flex back to base to defend, or cover another flank that may be in trouble. I am learning more how to play this tank, but so far, I can see what needs to be done.
  2. This tank, so far for me, seems to work better at range, and when one can get flanking shots. In those cases, my damage output is pretty good. However, when I am at, or near the top, I get carpy team-mates complaining about my positioning, saying I should be leading the rush, because "you have an OP auto-loader". Well, leading the rush in this thing is not the place to be. Yes, you can deal damage, but, when the drum is expended good luck retreating while the drum reloads. When setting up to work from the tanks apparent advantages, I invariably find myself trying to shore up a collapsing flank, vs, supporting from range. Doesn't help either when in a few of the games, my paltry 48% win rate is the best on the team, and the other team has a handful of green, and yellow players.. Getting stomped seemed to be the order of the day.. Still getting the hang of this thing, with only 18 games, it's still new, but I am finding the places where this thing works, and where it doesn't.
  3. I just acquired it. Not sure the best way to play it. I have kitted it out with binocs, Gun laying drive, and vents. Crew is 100%. I can see where this tank has the potential to really deal the hurt, I just can't figure out if I should be leading the rush, in the rush, or laying back a bit, due to the long (47.54 second) reload time on the drum. Any advice would be helpful.
  4. I love the T29. It's fun to be top tank in a Tier 5-7 battle, and go hull down, on, Karelia, perhaps, or on HImmelsdorf behind the one building... if you allow only your turret to show, you will have Steel Wall to spare. As top, or near top tank, it can be trollish vs Tier 5 and 6. However, don't show your sides, or lower front hull... the fun may come to a quick end if you do that...
  5. After looking in to things a bit more, regardless of the website I access, be it WoT for gaming, or Food Network, You Tube, and even, it would appear, the VPN I use to connect to work (I work from home) has to pass through those 4 nodes. It doesn't matter how many hops come after that, it's those first four that are killing me. I guess it's back after the Tech Support folks on Monday.
  6. I am having a heck of time with ping and lag lately. No, it's not Telia.net, either. It is my ISP. I have run Ping Plotter quite a bit lately. And, I have noticed that the first four hops past my "homeportal" or router here at home, all suffer packet loss. Constantly. Anywhere from 50 to 100 percent loss, and then occasionally, the routers will error out, and I will get a "destination unreachable" error. Is there a way to route my traffic around this bottle neck? Most of the time, I can play without issue, but lately it's been about 1 in every 5 games that I am unable to move, because I get a ping of 999ms and it stays there. Disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't do much to alleviate the issue. All four routers that have the packet loss belong to my ISP, and when I called them, they were very little help. Any ideas, anyone? I am pretty good with computers, and have some networking background, but this might be a bit beyond me.
  7. I play for fun. winning=fun more wins=more fun, so therefore, I play to win to have fun..... In all seriousness though, I do analyze (not very deeply) what I do wrong, and what I do right, and try to keep doing the right thing.
  8. There is nothing worse than being a Tier 7 heavy in a game full of Tier 9 heavies, or a Tier 5 medium in a game full of Tier 7 heavies. I still roll out for the fight. Generally my tank's life is very exciting and very short, in games like those, but I would rather roll out and try to do something, then sit around and definitely do nothing. I have actually been pleasantly surprised, many times in the past, how a Tier 8 heavy, or even, Tier 9 heavy will ignore my Panther, while I shoot his sides and rear, penning him for a pittance off of his 2000 HP total, but I have scored upwards of 2K damage in quite a few playing like that. Even more so, a Tier 8 premium ignoring my VK3601, Any HP you can take off of a bigger opponent, helps your bigger teammates knock them out..... But, then, you guys already knew that.
  9. So, wait... The stuff we found is NOT him? And the other stuff some of the stuff led to is NOT him? Now, I am scared.
  10. I have a very high tolerance for most internet behaviors... I can read troll after troll, bad post after bad post, and it doesn't get to me. Jsnazz got to me. He reminds me of the kid from my neighborhood, who was always shoehorning his way into our pick-up baseball games at the park, or our street hockey games on on the old tennis courts. He would claim to know the game back and forth, would totally suck at playing, and then, brag endlessly about the one hit he got, or one one goal he scored, and use that as proof that he was an excellent player, and the rest of us were bad. He played Little League in our town, and constantly bragged about achievements he never had, home runs he never hit, and strikeouts he never pitched. He had a high, thin nasally voice, and a whiny, almost sing-song way of talking... When Jsnazz posts... it is that kid I see, and that voice I hear... and I just want to scream... "Funny guy"? Jsnazz is anything but.
  11. Why did I Google? Why? Morbid curiosity? I really have to stop that. I only looked at a few things, I promise.. I may now have nightmares? I really used to think that Jsnazz was someone's alt, or just somebody screwing around. I have since discovered that, A: He appears to be real. B: He really is a dumb as a box of rocks C: I am not surprised that someone this clueless exists. I know I should be surprised, but deep down, I knew it was only a matter of time before I found this level of stupidity in a person. I am tearing my eyes way from this train wreck, and going to go do something to redeem myself.....somehow, after looking at that, I feel some sort of redemption is necessary....
  12. I have a Panther in my garage. Been there for awhile, but I don't take it out much. I need help playing this thing. I like it, I really do, I just can't buy a win in that tank to save my life. I love the RoF of the top gun, and it's accuracy. Damage is not all that great. My kill ratio in the Panther is about the lowest of all of my tanks. I can't seem to get much done in this vehicle, and was looking for suggestions. I have been in a few battles with Panthers on my team. In one case, the Panther on my team scored 11 kills, using the 75mm L/100. Otherwise, I have seen scores of 5+ for Panther players quite often. I'm lucky if I get one. Conversely, I play my VK3601 quite well, with either the 88mm or the Konisch. If I could translate that skill from the VK to the Panther, I would be happy. My playstyle is the support the front line, and snipe from medium to long range. However, in a few cases it seems like, as soon as I get myself situated, either enemy arty finds me, or an enemy heavy decides to take on an "anti-sniper" role, and I find myself on the defensive, and pretty much finished. Any help would be appreciated. I figured I would post this here, vs the regular WoT forums, because everyone here knows what they are talking about...
  13. Don't confuse today's modern submarine capabilities with the capabilities of WWII era subs. WWII era subs were generally slow, both surfaced and submerged (15-20 knots surfaced, and about 5-7 knots submerged). Their batteries gave them short endurance. WWII subs had to surface frequently (generally at night) to run their diesels and recharge their batteries. There were no homing torpedoes of any substance in widespread use. Sonar was woefully lacking. Subs had passive and active sonar, but the capabilities of both were not suited for any kind of long range listening, unlike today's submarines. Most subs in WWII relied on spotting while surfaced (i.e. looking for smoke columns, masts on the horizon, etc.) and then using their surface speed to make a run around the front of a slow convoy, perhaps, and then, either submerge ahead and attack, or shadow the convoy until nightfall, and run in for a surface attack. Since the sub's profile on the surface was rather small, they were difficult to spot. In addition, the diving depth wasn't very deep either. Somwhere on the order of 300 to 350 feet max. Most of today's subs can dive to 1000 feet or so. Submarines, unless WG gave them modern capabilities, would not be all that huge of an addition to the game. Their use would be limited, and would take some skill, foresight, and forethought to employ properly.
  14. I have camo trained crew, camo net, and the "gold" camo on my VK3601. From what I can tell, I am pretty invisible when I am stationary behind a bush. I have opened fire, and managed to get a few rounds off before being spotted.
  15. I generally do that. Somtimes, especially as of late, I have been trying to fight my way to a winning record for the day. Trying to do that resulted in me going 7-18 in one day, a couple of weeks ago.
  16. Just came off of a 5-4 run this morning. only 7 kills... Not real happy. Could have done better. I was tangling with a T71 in our cap, and tried to hit him for a reset by using 3rd person.... Just as I was about to fire, something twitched and I missed, and it was my last chance to reset, as he had already hit my ammo rack, damaging, and doubling my reload time. Had a 0 damage game my VK... everything I fired was bouncing, or penning for no damage. Had a low damage game in my IS, I fired 9 rounds hit with 7, and only damaged with one. I bounced 3 times off of a VK3601, with a 122. I know it has only 175mm of penetration, but, it should have knocked that VK out, I hit him square in the side of the turret, and I got ricochet.....that kind of stuff is very frustrating, but it seems to happen with that IS more often than any other tank. I am taking a break until this afternoon.... or tomorrow.....
  17. I am still bad@tanks...according to what my stats show... a few months ago, I was worse@tanks... going from about 44% to 48% has to mean something. I learned a few things from reading the forums and map strategy threads. I even tried the strategy someone suggest, and voila! I left the game with 2200 damage and 3 kills. I am just trying to figure out how to get my damage per game up, and how to stop having "0" damage games. I get discouraged when I am out-played in the opening minute of the game, and have either taken more than 50% damage, or have already been killed. Most of the time in happens when I am playing my Tier 7 heavies, and wind up in Tier 9 battles......
  18. I was in a game, where MM gave us a 28% chance to win. Our KV-1 driver was just whining up a storm, about the game being broken, MM being borked, WG profiting off of the backs of poor people... I mean, he was just going on. After a few obligatory "STFU" comments from the rest of the team....we rolled out, and won..... 15-4. A: Don't believe MM's "odds" B: Play hard, carry hard, and you will win.... period. C: Oh yeah. Shoot at things and hit them, and even, make them go "boom", that helps as well. KV Whiner was one of the 4 casualties......
  19. Depends.... Weekends, usually no matches. Weekdays, anywhere from 5 to 20 or so, depending on my schedule and stuff. I generally play mornings, but with my kids getting out of school, that will be curtailed, I am sure.
  20. If I see a Kv-2 is in the lineup. I go for him, got to get the big, damaging gun out of the way. I generally snipe them from cover, although I have been whacked by that gun a couple of times. Since the tank is slow, and has slow traverse, I can get around and behind.. do some damage, speed off, and come back again from a different angle. Worked one over in my Cromwell yesterday... it was fun.. until their Tiger tracked me, and I was at the KV-2's mercy... Fortunately my last shot got him, just before the Tiger got me. .
  21. Great read. Plenty of useful stuff, and you covered some things that I have learned how to do. Learning how to use a fast medium to it's full advantage is what I am working on now. I am trading off between Cromwell, M4A3E8, T25 prem (Decent speed, and ROF... turret isn't very fast, but I won 5 straight in it the other day). Still want to get more out of my Panther, but having a bit of difficulty with that. My VK3601 is my favorite medium, but, it's not a very fast medium, however, I do pretty good in it (54% win rate). The Cromwell, is fast, good RoF and fast turret traverse, but, it's easy to get into big trouble with that tank, and get into it fast. On the plus side, I have turned the tide for my team in a battle on my own, and with the help of team mates 2 other times. It has great value as a flanker, and decent punch from the top gun. However, I also get easily frustrated in my mediums, probably because I get too far ahead of everyone sometimes. I could use some advice on how to perform better in my mediums. Mainly to stop the "shoot once and die" cycle that I tend to fall into from time to time . My damage rate is not very good, my kill ratio is coming up in various tanks, but overall, it's still below .6. I can put together a string of 1K+ damage games, but, as of late, I am not hitting like I normally do, and my damage per game is starting to get on my nerves. I do better in heavies, probably because I feel "safer" in them, and they are a bit more deliberate than a medium. I like the idea of the medium tank, and want to be better at using them.
  22. Great idea. I think I can learn quite a bit here. Tired of the garbage on the NA forums.... Now... where do I go to whine that my winrate is all luck again? (Just kidding... really...)
  23. I have Jspazz on "ignore" over at WoT forums....unfortunately, I still see his posts, and the posts of the others I have put on "ignore".... Why is that, I wonder?
  24. Generally, that is how I go down cliffs... if you go full reverse, you can actually go down some of the higher ones in the game without being damaged.
