Their scoring also caps out at like 6 cores for CPUs too

Lets stick with userbenchmarks. I ve been active in the PC world (online) for more than 15 years. Before you brought that site up, it never was on my radar. Might be that I stumbeled over it in the past, but I put it aside as useless - the whole idea and presentation is nonsense for everyone who knows a thing or two about benchmarking and PC building.
This site has no buisiness being on top of any generic search listing when it comes to usefull benchmarks. I'm running on a ~7 year old installation of W7 that 's totally cluttered. Do you think that is good datapoint in any performance benchmark? Or how about the PC noob that bought his box at Walmart, half of the SSD filled with useless bloatware, while Norton and McAffee fight over dominance in the background? Sure you can say that averages out over a big number of compareable systems, but that still doesn't make a valid datapoint when it comes to spending hundrets or thousands of dollars, let alone the amounts companies spend on PC hardware.
Just think about the XMP-thing you discovered - I wouldn't be suprised if 50% of PCs outside of comercial use in the US that use non-JEDEC RAM don't have XMP enabled. On some systems and with some applications it's not relevant, on others ... .

You can "buy" your placement in the search results.

No.
I don't know how it works, but I know there are thousands of advertising/marketing companies that focus mainly on optimizing positioning in online search results and user reviews. Google itself also somehow has fingers in that pie making money directly and indirectly with companies competing for the top spots.
How exactly it works I have no idea, as 'mm not interested in that topic. Maybe someone else here can explain it or point you in the right direction.

No you're a meme.
Next gen Intel worth a look?

Userbenchmark has been a meme forever.

Don't know the site, don't use the site - don't care, especially considering the name. "Average" user and usefull benchmarks are two things that exclude themself.

FlorbFnarb reacted to Folterknecht in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
Forgot something, if your system is stable atm, make a BIOS Update before you start messing around.
-
FlorbFnarb reacted to Folterknecht in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
There a many 8GB DIMMs that can do CL 14 (or lower) at 3000 MHz. With 16 GB DIMMs Its a different story, they usually don't clock nearly as well. Increasing Freq. by 25% is a big step (you can try 2666 MHz in between). CL16 @3000 MHz is pretty relaxed. CL14 in your case is marketing gag anyway, as the rest of the timings are loose anyway for that speed (2400 MHz).

FlorbFnarb reacted to Folterknecht in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
@FlorbFnarb If everything runs well in the next week(s) and you want to gain a little performance, manually set your DRAM voltage to 1,35V, your CAS Lantency (CL) to 16 or 15 and your DRAM Freqency to 1500 (3000) MHz. The rest leave at it is.
Most DDR4 (even 16GB) DIMMs should be able to handle that nowdays without much fiddling around.
Leave your fingers off secondary or tertiary timings.

Memtest your RAM over night, stick by stick outside of windows.
-
FlorbFnarb reacted to Folterknecht in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
Atm it looks like 2133 MHz.
Go into your BIOS, go to OC Tweaker -> DRAM Configuration -> Load XMP Setting + Save&Exit and check with CPUz like I said above.
-
FlorbFnarb reacted to Folterknecht in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
Jul_Le is right. 2133 MHz is the JEDEC baseline for DDR4 for max compatibilty at the 1st start up. You 'll have to load the XMP1 Proffile +Save&Exit +Reboot to apply it. You can also check under Windows with CPU-Z (memory tab), if the corrrect profile is applied.
-
FlorbFnarb reacted to Jul_Le in Is there something I'm not understanding about RAM frequencies?
DDR4 runs at 2133 MHz by default, no matter how fast your ram actually is. Have you enabled XMP? It should run at 2400 MHz then, like shown in one of your screenshots.

I'd say it's mind-blowing how bad some of these huge companies are at building desktops, but a lot of it is intentional. Gotta impede people upgrading the shit they buy from you, that way they just get frustrated and replace the whole thing. I think their goal is to laptopify the desktop. Ideally turn the whole thing into a black box the customer won't touch and can't fix or upgrade.

Just wait until you're 40 and see the shit you said when you were 22...
You mean all that hard work I did to climb the summit of mediocrity is worth nothing now? I'm not giving back my set of steak knives...

Yeah, I have heard about Hutton orbital and free Condas somewhere too
One of gaming press sites had article about it, iirc.

Aaaarrgh, those damn flying times to reach location just take away fun for me. Whatever I try doing, requires staring at screen for minutes or doing something else besides game while my ship reaches location.
Game is ok, I just cant stand those fly times.

I have watched Elite long enough to know money grind should not be a thing at all. Not because of players should or shouldn't progress at a certain pace, is that smaller ships generally don't have an advantage over large ship (understably so.), you cannot balance a ship's cost and operational cost by yet another cost (rebuy). Think of jump range, nobody will say Conda's jump range is overkill in this 20,000+ Ly diameter Milky Way. The only noticeable different is when ships are in combat, other than that, no such thing small ships can do larger ships cannot manage.
CR was always a big issue for Elite because Elite itself was never intented to be focusing on that, but variety of activities not locked behind CR wall. That doesn't stop people liking their small ships and personally I prefer this as a state of game than, having large ships locked behind a 1000hr CR grind as it has taken away again, player's ability to choose what they want to fly with in this vast emptiness. Might not sound very good to the game's longevity, yet it doesn't stop AspX being the most flew ship among CMDRs, instead of anything bigger.
Python needs that Guardian FSD booster. Price tag wise, most expensive ship to run a Class 5 FSD, not the heaviest, rather light actually,, jump range sits right in the middle among all Class 5 FSD ships, but because it can hold the 2nd most cargo plus a few Class 7 modules, you start to lose quite a bit of jump range.

Most of my current assets, were from Sothis, got my two Condas from there, and my first Cutter within a month. The remaining ones were from skimmers, and mining. Can't tell how bored I was when I did those, weren't as profitable as nowadays 100mil+ methods either. Those were only rougly 60mil/hr with a Cutter.

I jumped Painite mine train and in several runs with Cobra(including 1 without shields for extra 16 tons), I made enough for nearly 4 Pytons.
Somewhere deep in conciousness it seemed that it was wrong. It just felt that it shouldnt be that really easy to get this rich and buy whatever ship I want(except faction ones)
Got Python and so far except for large cargo it doesnt seem that fun. Havent outfitted it really because low jump range surprised me.

The idea on their head is $/hr, which is fine, because boring stuff will send ppl away, and certainly some activities are bound to be boring, do I put risk factor ahead of boring factor probably not, payout was never the issue for me even for combat related activities, just bored.

Then I was just in time to try and abuse Painite
180 Ly to nearest Painite mining system and then another 180 to Baiawa system to sell for highest price. Mined 10 tons od Painite, but damn tha felt slow. Feels like I would have to sit all day to mine full Cobra of Painite
Is it like this for everybody or its just my lack of experience/equipment?
