Off the bat, ONE MISERABLE FUCKING DOLLAR will get you Spec Ops: The Line.  Which is GREAT.  It will also get you The Darkness 2.  Which is FUN, if A BIT DATED.  Additionally, it will get you DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.  Which is DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.  SADLY.
7 to 8 dollars at present will get Civ 5, Mafia 2 and some basketball game.  Expect the extras at this tier to be Civ expansions or possibly Borderlands related.
15 gets you Battleborn, which tells you an awful lot about its sales figures.  Also Borderlands Pre Sequel.
Please get Spec Ops.  Its worth it.

Like the old Thief games, the visuals may be dated, but by Karras the sound design is absolutely timeless.  Remarkable achievements.

Used to be a point where I would automatically buy CA games full price.  Got burnt by Empire, so I didn't bother with the expansions; and the last was Rome 2 which was the start of really shady pre-order practices (no Greeks for you unless you preorder!).  Its not that the earlier games were more stable, people who think they were have very short memories - but they were playable and fun other than the broken mess Empire and Rome 2 shipped in.  In Empire, the opposition was initially allergic to the sea and you could field the mortars of doom, while Rome 2 was essentially a large scale rugby simulator with a teethgrinding civil war mechanic.
 
So the shady pre-order practices continue, along with an inflated price (which was subsequently reduced in the UK, can't see that being anything other than the result of bad PR).  Its not encouraging, particularly with the current rep of launch states.  That, and being in bed with Games Workshop, who are a miserable bunch of thieving bastards that have only acknowledged video games now that the rest of their business has fallen on its arse.

Very true, but the faction packs in Shogun 2 were more of a case of 'oh look, another faction with the same bloody units' rather than something with a bit more variety.  A bit.  Shogun 2 was actually pretty competent, but always suffered with me because I couldn't give a shit about the history there. Realm Divide, while initially hideous (pretty devastating the first time around, eh?) was actually a really good way of keeping you playing rather than the usual stockpile money then flatten everyone process.  So much better than the initial way Civil War was implemented in Rome 2, which was absolute bum.  Remains to be seen what they'll do to maintain interest in Warhammer; I'm not convinced.  The roster is not very expansive or impressive either.  Spearmen.  Or spearmen NOW WITH ADDED SHIELDS.
