Haswell is right. I watched most of your video last night, and it documents why your positioning doesn't work very well most of the time.
But it also shows some good things: you think about how you are positioned relative to both your enemies and your allies, you notice some mistakes after you make them, you think about hard cover and your exit plan, you think ahead generally, and you are able to explain a rationale behind your actions. All of that is commendable. You're already way ahead of so many players who never bother to notice where the other tanks are moving.
Honestly, if you stick around here (and maybe Twitch/YouTube) and learn from some of the really good players who give us their time and content, I bet you could continue processing lots of information about the battlefield but replace the way you make decisions based on that information and start to get a much higher win rate very soon.

    Hi!

I'm Avalon304. Im a casual tanker who enjoys comfortable tanks and is always looking to improve (which is why Ive come here). Im just teetering on the edge of purple stats, and one of my goals this year is to finally get my overalls to unicum status. Ive learned much from platooning with players like uberdice, Taugrim, and _Tsavo_ and still have much to learn yet.

Im also a tank remodeler. I like making tanks look cool. You can see some of what Ive done by clicking my signature, which will take you to my Workshop or you can click here and go directly to my WGMods profile.

My signature also has a link to my twitch stream, where Im attempting to become an affiliate (and maybe a partner in the future). You can come hang out, and be comfortable in chat as I plod my way through WoT (or maybe other games).

    Hello!
As many of you probably saw, we had a big server migration recently. Here's the low down of what happened:
As I have disclosed in a couple of posts, the database server ran into an issue where it ran completely out of space. The biggest problem was that the database engine we were using kept all the data in a single file, and that file could never be shrunk even if you deleted older records. This caused that file to grow bigger and bigger and bigger over time, until it took up all of the considerable space on that server (1.5TB). When there was no more space left, the database server would crash and the website would go down.
Fortunately, I managed to work with DigitalOcean to secure a great virtual server which meets all the needs of the database and the website in a single server. This is a 12-core, 48GB RAM server with 1TB of SSD space. The next step was transferring all the data over. This took the longest time. All in all, the database totalled around 5 billion records, and after removing the inflated space from the database engine, clocked in at around 500GB.
It took 3 days to transfer and import all the records into the new server, which now runs the latest versions of PHP and MySQL for better performance, plus it lets me clean up old records that aren't used anymore in order to reduce disk space, meaning there will always be space available.
Not only that, but as the website and the database are now on the same server, there is no more issue with the firewall tables getting reset, a problem which, despite a LOT of research, I couldn't actually fix. This was one of the biggest causes of the downtime in the past, as the database server started refusing connections from the website server at random.
All in all, you can expect WoTLabs to be MUCH more stable from now on.
Thanks everyone for all the support!

Hey all. I would like to share my WIP KV-1 mod 1942 Lightweight Cast Turret by Trumpeter. My first time doing a muddy running gear on a tank. Have a few more things to paint and retouch - the cables for example and the rust in the exhaust. Would highly appreciate suggestions and constructive criticism. Camera ran out of battery so I just used my phone. Thanks for looking!

Its funny, seeing the game that I used to play with fps enhancing mods now in a actually somewhat pleasing way. Props to SerB, thank God there has been noticeable improvements, but on the flip side its all essentially the same, just new tanks, mods have been absorbed in to the game, all that. Servers seem a lot less populated, but it was inevitable.
If I could see how many hours of teenage years I put in this game, its several 1000. I was a chronic shitposter here but in all fairness to you guys, most of you gone, it did help me mature. I recently finished school and still cringe at my old posts, one of the wonders of growing up with internet. Coming back I miss that nostalgic music and graphics, but change is for the better. Yes, I have had good times here but it's hard to commit yourself to the long grinds of WarGaming once more. I think that's what will eventually got to most of us who left.
Truly a one of a kind game. For all its faults I loved it, the drama each update, pressing r when you were fed up with playing but wanted to grind, test servers. Yet, I wish that someday, a new tank game will rekindle my passion for these rumbling iron beasts.

What I've made so far with only using the Italeri WoT ling (incl. their paints) is the following:
    https://imgur.com/QzptJsH
I did the crusader first, and decided to try and weather it and probably went a bit overboard. I used a wash from "Army Painter" to try and give it some weathering. One day I'll redo the road wheels as they aren't painted particularly nice (or evenly for that matter). But since this was my first ever attempt, I am quite happy with the result.
Second tank was the Sherman, and here I was surprised at how dark the Italeri OD actually is. It is the same brown as the actual brown included in the paint set, so I was highly disappointed by that. I was going for a more dark green shade than what I got. So this Sherman is repainted and not very well. This also needs some more love down the road when I am more experienced. It might even be demoted to test bed for different techniques and colours.

Thirdly and most recently I've painted a Chaffee in plain OD. I've done some light weathering/brushing of lighter shades to give it more depth, but I have limited colours available so It's limited what I can achieve. I am more happy with this than the Sherman.

I am planning on buying a bunch of pigments and washes for future projects and I might go back to these and give them some more love. Also sorry for not the best pictures. I just took what I already had on my phone

Looks very nice. I for one like the now too worn look, as I feel that sometimes people go a bit over the edge.
What colour did you use for the main body? I plan on doing something very similar at some point, although I'll go for making Tiger 131 (but not through the Italeri/WG kits).

What do you use when adding dust? Pigments, washes or something else? Tracks are looking really good, I like how you've got them dusty but still  kept all the details visible. Did you do pinwashes to the hull?

Time for some more v.i.p pictures! After seeing Kunjuros nice looking Tiger I in winter camo I wanted to try that technique myself. So, here's what I have now, a mighty Panther G! Next step will be re-gluing all those tiny photoetch that I rubbed off and then start some detailpainting, inside of hatches and exhaustsystem. In the end this model will be in diorama so suspension and tracks are done after the model sits in a base. Any comments, advices and critisims is welcomed.

The gun barrel looks unpainted, is that intentional?
Overall looks pretty neat, though there could be more weathering on the hull. It still looks too clean to me, like fresh off the train clean.

Hey folks. Been playing a bit more WoT recently, liking the new T8 mode. Can be really fun while playing a LT or a HT. Anyway, I would like to share my most recent WIP - Tamiya's 1/35 Tiger I Initial Production, as deployed in Tunisia.  Still not happy with the dust on the wheels and hull. Will probably work on it again during the weekend. Would appreciate any constructive criticism. Thanks for looking!

There has been some activity in my modelling desk too lately, here are some work-in-progress photos of my current project. It's an old Tamiya kit from late 70's that I've been using as a practice model for color modulation. At this point pretty much all basic painting is done and in next stage there will be some detail painting and then the weathering starts. Comments?

    Yeah, double post... Sorry.

Hey folks How's everyone doing? Is patch 1.00 any good? I have only played a few games so far - like the graphics update but the maps feel.... anemic. Something feels off. Still, glad that the game got a makeover.

Anyway, here's what I worked on during the Lenten Holidays here in the Philippines. This is Academy's M4A2(76) Red Army Sherman. According to documents complied by the Soviets and accounts of Soviet Tankers, they found the Sherman a really great vehicle - especially the 76mm version. They lovingly nicknamed their tanks "Emcha" - since the #4 looks close to the Cyrillic symbol for "Cha". Would highly recommend folks read Dmitry Loza's book "Commanding the Red Army's Shermans" which is easily available online. This academy kit was really easy to build, but there are quite a few nagging inaccuracies - especially in the running gear. The skids and the return rollers don't touch the tracks! Academy fixed this in later Sherman kits supposedly. I still need to add a lighter coat of dust on the entire vehicle to blend the weathering together and add metal wear and tear on the tracks + drive sprockets. Hope you like it.
