  1. Spending a lot of time looking at this on the test server, I'm going to be using this as a mobility revolution. Turbocharger, grousers, and improved rotation have the potential to vastly improve speed and agility on lots of tanks that need it.

It's hard to measure the overall impact since everything is getting buffed, but I feel like the biggest winners will be light tanks and TDs. Light tanks got a lot of new options to mess with, and the improved camo value equipment alone is a big deal which will make the scouting role more viable. TDs just got a minor buff across the board from the improved rotation, it's as good as vert but aids them in their biggest weakness of turn speed (and turret speed for some).

Lot of advantages to the new system. You can fix many unplayable tanks by compensating for their weaknesses, there are a lot of new options to experiment with, the tier scaling in both cost and choice is a badly overdue change, and there's a lot more variety and choices than before. You could equip a Hellcat to be a dedicated traditional sniper, a mid range opportunist, or a full-on GOTTAGOFAST yolo idiot. I really like that ability to customize.

Downsides... this might make the game even faster since a lot of vehicles are going to be more maneuverable, tracking will be harder, etc. Arty gets a new, very good equipment choice, which sucks. Pubbies may be even more pants-on-head unpredictable because their equipment choices can vary so much... buuuut they're still pubbies, which means they'll gravitate toward the same dumb shit they always do, just as every dingbat has a derp gun on every tank that can use one. I still expect to see some camo net heavies because "they wont see me when i snek up beech".

Overall, while the main forum was bitching non-stop about it, I think this will be one of the best improvements WG has made to the game in years.

  2. This thing is cancerous. The bloom stats are stupid low (0.1 move and turret) and a two round burst is basically the optimal gun type aside from the fair and balanced autoreloader. They just drive around snap shot dunking everything with pants-on-head alpha. I'm seeing players with just stupid numbers above their other tier 8s.

  3. The spike is nationwide, it varies from place to place. I've been checking NYT daily because they have a (non-paywall) huge, consolidated data page they update constantly that even shows you hot spots and places of decline.

It's been a little different than I expected; I pictured it flatlining for a while and then gradually going back up, instead it flatlined for a while but then spiked hard core, nearly as steeply as the first time.

The weekly cycle just has to do with reporting. Something about they don't report it until they actually get tests back from labs, so there's a spike on Monday or something.

It's just like I said, Americans are bored of it now. For all practical purposes it's uncontainable given the lack of fucks given by too many people. Imagine being elderly and realizing how little any one cares about you.

  4. My first thought looking through the first list was a bunch of the items should be consolidated, like the forward and backward transmission speed improvements. This does actually look pretty good. You'll be able to really compensate for the inherent problems many tanks have instead of just slapping double optics or vents on. My first thought is tanks like the TOG, Matilda BP or PZ IV S, which will be like brand new tanks with a turbo booster. Getting a hugely buffed version of ammo rack might make the FV201 playable. This will bring a lot of vehicles out of mothballs. And we'll still have camo net for the heavy tanks, so all the morons will be satisfied too.

Oh snap, I just noticed they removed the Improved Aiming Unit option from artillery. DONE, IT'S GOOD, SHIP IT

EDIT: FRACK they gave arty the improved rotation thingy that reduces bloom and increases traverse. YOU WERE SO CLOSE, WG

  5. Still bad. Still get chased down by last dumbass in medium tank. Crazy 2.0 Equipment comes and breaks the game this thing is getting the turbocharger and maybe it'll finally be playable. I don't even understand how it moves so slow; it has decent horsepower, soft stats and top speed, it just won't go.

  6. The players have gotten "worse" in that the bots have gotten just good enough it's harder to tell. I've played some games in the early morning lately, and at mid tier there is a river of bot accounts all with bland, short names, all using the Excelsior to spam games and literally no games in any other vehicles. I shit you not I've seen as many as 5 in one game at a time, more than once. I see them at high tier too, but they shoot and do enough that unless you watch very closely and notice their gun moving too smoothly for a human for too long you can't differentiate them from the grade school horde that invaded after covid. We all used to joke about when the bots someday get better than the pubbies, but it's more like a blending. 46%ers using bots that can play at 42% level when they're away resulting in rivers of 43%-45% win rates.

  7. There's a good idea buried in all of this, but like so many of the game's problems it's not the idea... it's the fact WG employees don't know their own game well enough to get the fine tuning right. Ultimately they'll settle on some numbers that range from too little to too much, every one will gravitate to the "too much" equipment, and that'll be the end of it.

For example, they split the obviously too powerful vertical stabilizer into "rotation" and "turret + movement" when people who aren't awful at this game will tell you the latter is way better than the former. They should have split it into "movement" and "turret", but they just don't understand the game on that level. They even started with 15%/25% on rotation and 20%/23% on move/turret. They gave the weaker piece worse numbers because their intuition about the game is so lousy.

(EDIT: on the test server vertical stabilizer says "traverse and movement" in some places and "traverse, movement, and turret" in others. Only TDs get a specialized item for reducing bloom on traverse only. I now have no idea what vert actually does or what they intend it to do...)

I do hope some new stuff might make dedicated light scouting viable and interesting at least.

  8. What do we want to do?

    • Simplify the choice and use of all equipment

"Now scroll down to form 7C marked, 'light tanks tier 4-6' and write in your gross credit total. Reference chart B13 to find what your base camo value within a bush is and divide by improved camo net values to find your net camoflague values while in water while being observed with improved binocs from a tank destroyer."

  9. What's weird is this thing is actually good for frontline. Its armor is really good against same tier tanks if you stick to hilly terrain thanks to lots of auto bounce angles, its cross country speed is good to get around, pen does the job, pretty agile. Gun handling could be better for long range, but the accuracy is good.

  10. Tank Destroyer

    Advantage: penetration

Pen is 120, other tanks range from 110 to 120

Many screw-ups in this mode, the balance between tanks is definitely one of them. IS line appears to dunk on everything else.

  11. At its height the main forum had a mixture of different player types. As the game got dumber and dumber a lot of the better players drifted away. The main forum is now a blasted wasteland of window lickers, sundowning boomers, and neckbeards trying to flex their 55% win rate because in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. The few blurples that still post there are mostly the ones with personalities so insufferable they were/would be driven off Wotlabs when/if they brought that shit here.

Basically, the main forum is just like the game.

  12. It's 2020 guys, all new premiums are secret soft stat power creep. This thing has 0.20 instead of 0.21-0.23 on the move and 0.12 turret instead of the standard 0.16, which is huge when you have such an abysmal aim time. So it has the best/equal armor of any IS model yet and massively better gun handling. The cost is lower top speed, 10m less view range, and the soft stats on "normal" and "soft" terrain are really rough, so it'll be slower. It's basically a heavier, punchier, but slower IS.

  13. Remember when a tank with 3.4s aim time was playable?

Why the crap did they nerf the gold pen on this thing? It's miserable. If it still had good pen at least it would be a giant killer, as it stands with such lame pen and awful handling you might as well shoot HE at anything with real armor. Sacrifice everything for a big gun and the gun doesn't even work.

MOAR EDIT: What an absolute fucking shitbox. Speed and agility of a heavy, crippling gun arc, bad gun depression, huge profile, no armor, garbage aim time, garbage accuracy, weak gold round (Lowe is higher ffs), fixed gun, limited ammo capacity, just bad EVERYTHING. Literally the only good thing about this tank is the massive 750 alpha which is rendered all but useless by all the problems preventing it from actually landing a penetrating hit. I think I could load pure HE and be just as effective compared to trying to pen with this garbage gun that couldn't hit the ground if it weren't for gravity.

  14. Tier 7 is fucking unplayable anymore. Bouncing shot after shot of gold in a goddamn fixed gun TD against the flavor of the month new tier 8 heavy has gotten real old. Basically everything goes to shit from tier 6 on in terms of balance because 8-10 is just constant creep while 1-7 haven't seen rounds of buffs in literally 5+ years.

  15. It looks like they did at least nerf a few of the worst offenders at low-mid tier. Pz38t got some noticeable firepower decreases. Luchs got the 3cm gun nerfed meaningfully, it's now nearly useless over 200m. And finally, 6ish years after it became an abomination, the T67 got balanced out. More bloom, longer aim time, less horsepower, it actually feels fair at last. People are bitching about the Pz I C too, it only got increased recoil but hopefully that does something since it fires so fast.

Lame patch overall, but at least they did something badly overdue.

  16. What a dumpster fire of a patch. Ruined a ton of low-mid tier tanks and then doomed a generation of new players to rolling uptiered trash tanks while old players farm them with T67 bullshit. I like the hidden easter eggs of shit too, like how the T67 goes from 45 to 70 rounds (1.56) while an average tank like the Stug goes from 36 to 44 (1.22) and the crapwagon Turian goes from 32 to 39 (1.22). What the fuck does WG do all day and how do I get a job there?
