ya GuP was pretty good, it got me into playing a tanks game after that, only to realize almost 2 years later that said game was utter cancer.

I thought Tjerry was a girl for a long time since he wouldn't talk on TS and he's kinda girly. Then he talked on TS, and my penis stopped being so erect when talking to him.
 
Oh and he helped me sort out some mods a long time ago too.

You try some tier 10. Something didn't work out. You try something else. It doesn't work out. Eventually something does, and you refine that idea till you understand it. Not every idea you try is going to work - sometimes you do 0 damage and just die. It's just part of the learning process.
 
Knowledge you figure out yourself has a certain depth of understanding that you cannot find in knowledge you learn from external sources. It's something you truly understand.
 
It's the same as when you are learning in school. If you don't understand a homework question, and you keep at it for hours and figure it out, you will be able to answer similar questions and all variants on the exam. If the professor changes the question a bit to test your understanding, you will answer it correctly because that knowledge is yours. However, if when you didn't understand the homework question, you got your friend to explain to you the answer, you will never get far. Even if when he explains it, you think to yourself "oh that makes sense, I get it now." No, you honestly don't.

I remember being slightly disappointed at the different animation in season 2, but then quickly switched to "OMG S2 SO GUD". My impression of season 1 was that it was pretty good but nothing special though...
 
dude, i had the "Theme of King JJ" playing on repeat all day at work the next day. Yuri on Ice has such good music. History Maker is probably my fav OP of the season, at least based on the music. Some other OPs have nicer animation.
 
 
Kind of a disappointing season overall for me, only really got into like 3 shows (HibiEuph/Drifters/Yuri), but watched like 12 "meh" shows... Hopefully next season has something special in store - a Shinsekai Yori, a Boku dake ga Inai Machi, or a Death Parade. Something suspenseful and thrilling is what I'm hoping for.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on it:

Hi I haven't played tanks in like 2-3 years, but from what I remember...
- south is pretty garbage cuz you get shot at from north ledge with very little counterplay.
- as a platoon, you can have your heavy push the low ground on the north side, with a sniping guy at the back just playing out of the vision circle. Your 3rd tank is usually just playing behind your heavy, looking in the opposite direction and generally just looking scary and making it less appealing for the enemy to want to swarm your heavy. Ofc, both your heavy can be a little clever and poke in increments, just to see when 6th actually goes off. This way, you have some guess as to where enemy TDs are and you can just blind fire them a bit before doing your actual push. Most of the time,  you get plenty of easy damage in when they try to match you on low ground because hopefully you have the better sniper / heavy tank mechanics. The one annoying thing is if the enemy arty actually plays in the northwest corner, then lol u fukt and lose your 100% winrate for the night. Otherwise, if enemy arty playing south or middle, you should be fine.
 
At least, that's how I remember playing the map. If you're solo then lol i'm sure tanks is a fun gaem.

i think when learning something, it's always better to trust your own logic over whatever you read on strategy forums or watch on super purple streams. It doesn't matter if this purple player likes going southeast on Karelia or likes going 6-line on Prok. If you just don't like playing the west side of Stalingrad for whatever reason, you should continue to do whatever feels comfortable. I mean, you should be aware of all the possibilities available to you, but you should only be looking for what is clearly correct FOR YOU, then once you find something you like, you should dig deeply into that and find all the possible nuances and variations and solutions you can.
Never think you need to play standard because it is standard in any sense of the word. Sure, playing your own way might be tough to figure out, but if you find comfort in doing that, and you feel your play is much stronger and understandable when you do that, then 100% of the time you should follow your own intuition and develop your own style of play.
Way too many shitlords get stuck at like 70% or light purple because they just blindly follow other people's advice and have no actual understanding of what they're doing.

except the 1600 WN7 recent stat "pure" account laughing at the 2.2k reroll is still a joke.
 
For the right to laugh at a reroll, one must at least have as much recent stats as said reroll's overall. Otherwise, you just look like a retard.

In the end, tanks is a shallow ass game without much depth. At some point, after every game, I always felt like I learned nothing new - and that's frustrating if it goes on for an extended period of time.
Sure, if you want to just play4fun, then tanks is fine. But if, like me, you derive enjoyment from learning new things, constantly thinking what you can improve after a game, implementing creative solutions you thought up, etc., then tanks probably isn't for you.
Spending most my time playing Heroes of the Storm now, while still occasionally dabbling in Starcraft.

Confirmed - I watched the first few eps and tried to tell him it was bad, but he told me that it gets better in the latter half (which just so happens to be the opposite of everything I have heard about the show.)

I start out most seasons trying out like 20-30 shows, but end up with like 5-10. Most shows, if i finish them, I think are at least 7/10 (why would I finish shows I don't like?), and usually there's like 0-2 gems per season that I think are actually awesome. Which is good enough for me!

I think this all depends who you're playing with. If you're soloing, it's probably better to not trade much and save your hp, but you limit your winrate pretty severely by doing so.
Often times, if you're in a platoon of people you are close with, you can push the tempo of the game by spending your hp and pushing your side super fast. Trade-for-trade, at least from your own hp's perspective, it's usually a worse bargain for your hp. However, often not waiting for that super efficient trade and just winning your flank 2-3 minutes faster is just key to winning games. If you can make your team go up 6-1 in the first few minutes of the game while the enemy is still "looking for his 3-for-1 trade", then you just win the game, period.
 
Basically what I'm trying to say is that while looking for good trades is important, what's more important is the timing of how the game is flowing. It should be fairly obvoius that it makes no sense to be full hp at the end of the game if your team is down 8-14.
