  1. There is really no comparing this tank to any other tank at tier 6. The 105, if it was any better, would be overpowered. On the ARL it is simply serviceable. With 223 base pen, 330 alpha damage, and a base RoF of 5.6 it has everyone else beat on pen, and almost everyone else beat on damage. The gun has in class dispersion values that compare almost favorably to the 122 on the KV-85, another gun that shoots stuff. It has armor that bounces almost anything a tier 4 can throw at it, as long as they don't shoot the turret, and it can actually sidescrape (no joke here it can). In the mobility department the ARL clearly outpaces other moving tanks like the O-I and Churchill VII. With a blistering top speed of 37 kph and 16 power to weight it outpaces tanks carefully selected for being slow. Truly a powerhouse of tier 6, only the venerable Churchill game carrier can compete with this stale baguette shooting monster. Also why the hell does this thing get a bullshit gun? Like what the actual fuck Wargaming? It just deletes tier 4s and 5s. I might have to keep this tank for "3 marking".
  2. So the rumors are confirmed. WG is implementing wheeled vehicles into the game. I, as an excessive light player am pretty happy about this so far (also because french) but it seems to come with some caviats. Just watched quickies video from Gamescom were he answers some questions from some develloper and it seems, while having very good mobility, the new lights will have bad view range and even worse guns than regular lights to push them in an "active scouting role". Not too happy about that tbh because recent map changes and the trend to tunnel maps pretty much takes away all room for active scouting. Also we dont know anything about camo values (will they keep camo on the move just as regular lights?) All this is obviously subject to change and when WG says, they want to release them early next year im hoping for summer if it doesnt get scrapped beforehand. Thoughts? Ideas? Guncars you want to see? Does the game benefit from dedicated active scouts? how to 'track' them? Do noobs have to go to driving school to learn 3 point turning? Is Murazor still getting semen via IV because he cant suck all the Ds at once?
  3. I couldn't really find a decent thread discussing the 30B, the only thread I did see was Shrew asking if the tank had any point, and he seemed to have only played it on the test server at that point where it's hard to get a very precise idea of how a tank plays. On paper, the 30B looks a little worse than the leo in most respects, and I was happy to believe it, as I already have a Leo 1, and I don't want to have to grind out 200,000 XP on the 13 90 just to get a worse leo, but I'm beginning to have doubts that it is worse after a friend of mine (who I respect as a very good player) with over 700 games in the Leo 1 insisted that it's actually better than the Leo. He wrote an article on Reddit about it in which he said this: What I want to know is, does anyone else feel the same way? Does anyone else feel differently? Do I need to spam APCR for another 120 games in the 13 90? How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?
  4. What is it and is it worth the gold?
  5. Another French premium has appeared, this time something resembling the 50 100. Yes it's also a heavy. Somua SM Statistics: tier 8 1400 HP 32 °/s turret rotation 359 m view range 32 °/s hull rotation 50/20 km/h maximal speed 232 mm standard penetration 300 alpha damage 0.38 accuracy 2.2 s aim time 43 s reload of the magazine 6 shells in the clip 3.75 s reload of the shell More screenshots at https://ammorack.wordpress.com/2016/06/22/new-premium-somua-sm/
  6. Bretagne. Apart from having different ranges for HE & AP it felt utterly bland. And slow at a max speed of 21.1 knots. Lyon: I haven't got it yet but a clannie has. The dispersion seemed to be "German" but with 16 guns - 2.6 times as many as Gneisenau - who cares. Secondaries seemed effective when he got in range. In Operation Narie he did over 250k damage. Richelieu is good. Every game I have had so far has been tier 10 and I have been in the top half of the table. I've scored a cit on a Yamato who was sitting at an angle (not bow on, not broadside) and I've dev-striked a Des Moines. This is a keeper.
  7. I skimmed the first three pages of the French forum on WoTlabs and was surprised to not find a dedicated appreciation thread singing the praises of the AMX 301er. I probably missed it, but in the event that one has not been created, here you go. This tank is fantastic. It is a tank that makes me feel like a unicum. It's fast, it begs you to flex and find new ways to use the gun depression, it hits hard (especially for a French tank), and it looks good doing it. It also has higher pen than the French tier 9 TD (because WG balance). I only have 100 games in the AMX 301er but it's a keeper tank for me. Once I get more girls in it (yes, that's my ghetto crew on the left) it will be even better. Share your thoughts on this masterpiece of French engineering, bathed in sexy French blue. Or yell at me for missing the actual appreciation thread.
  8. So at my current rate I should soon get enough EXP on my AMX 13 90 to unlock my first tier 9 French MT. And I have yet to really decide which one I will go for first. I do plan to get both eventually, but that requires more grinding on the AMX 13 90 after the fact. Some of my assumption on the two choice of French tier 9 MTs Lorr 40t: I've heard some good stuff about, it but a lot of bad stuff about it as well. It's typically French with no armor, and is entirely reliant on its burst damage with the 6-clip 100mm SA47 and what mobility it possesses to get in and out. the tactics involved would be identical to the AMX 13 90, but on a bigger tank. before I went up the French LT line I had my misgivings since up till then I had little experience in autoloader armed tanks, and i'm still by no means a master of it, but i'm warming up to the playstyle AMX 30 this seems to be the most comfortable tank to play since it has the normal tier IX medium tank playstyle, something i'm quite familiar with in the Type 61, Centurion 7/1 and M46 Patton. but being fast like the Leo and faster firing than the Centurion 7/1, lower profile (presumably better camo?) than the Type 61, and ok gun handling. any thoughts/suggestions/advice?
  9. Hello WoTlabs, While staring at the 9.7 Test Server Launcher as it updated my test client, I noticed that it actually had a French tank on it (note that the login screen for WoT almost never has a French tank on it, only the Renault FT IIRC). It looks a lot like an AMX M4 45, but could it be an AMX M4 1949? I can't paste the screenshot I took, and from past experience (probably just me) pasting anything on these forums just doesn't work (such as links to imgur)... Halp?
  10. Hi all. I'm having trouble with Light tanks in general. I started my WoT career on the American TD line, went into the Russian heavies. I currently have the ELC, the AMX 12t (working towards Batchat eventually). I have the Chaffee, Luchs. I know French lights are a little different than regular lights. But aside from the occasional pretty good game. I can't seem to be consistently good in any of these tanks. I know that not having 6th sense is a major setback. So maybe that's all it is. Maybe that one skill breaks light tanks for me and I just have to suffer through bad games (and yea.. I kinda care about stats. Not enough to stay away from tank lines I don't know.. but enough that when I do bad, I get a little upset). I need some help though. I can't seem to find the groove. I'll provide stuff as necessary.
  11. So we all know this tank gets a lot of flak for being one of the worst heavies tier for tier, mainly because it has no workable armour, mediocre view range and poor fire control. Basically people call it a shitty Tiger I. So far, I've played only around 20 games in this machine. Here is my take on how to work this tank, and I'll be delighted to here your opinions on it. So first of all, we have the gun choice (DCA 45 vs 105). I strongly believe that using the 105 is the way to go. Why? DPM of the DCA 45 is utter trash. It has a base DPM of 1675 while the 105 has like 200 damage more. Enough said. Penetration on the 105 with judicious gold usage is workable. 223 gold pen is tier 8 heavy pen which will generally be enough for 66% of the matches you face. AP pen of 165 is also very workable for tier 7 enemies and below. Of course, expect to make a credit loss for most games (without a premium account). APCR has 330 alpha, which is 30 more than the normal round (increasing the base DPM to a respectable 2062) Aim time is equal for both guns. Now on to the playstyle of this tank. I've seen many advocate a snipey playstyle similar to the Tiger I, using the DCA 45 with extreme pen. I disagree with staying at ranges above 350m. Unlike the Tiger I, your fire control is way inferior and your alpha of 240 and shit DPM only tickles the enemy (assuming you hit). If you want to play a sniper heavy, that's where the Tiger I fills the role. Your AMX M4 is rightfully deserving of the title of a shitty Tiger if you play it like this. I strongly believe that using the 105 is the right way to go. With an alpha of 300 or 330, you have a good degree of stopping power. Don't be the idiot that tries to sidescrape. Let the actual heavies with armour tank most incoming hits while you are in a position to pump a 330 damage shell in any opponent's face. The 105 has a lot poorer accuracy at 0.41 compared to the DCA's 0.36, but this shortcoming can be mitigated by playing at close to mid-range as a support brawler role. So, I play this tank by providing presence in a corner brawl (e.g. supporting IS and T29s) but I stay behind them since my armour has little hope of bouncing anything. Once I'm sure there is going to be no return fire, I expose point blank and blast them in their faces. Don't underestimate 330 alpha at tier 7. Of course, when I'm not in a corner brawl, I'll be finding spots to abuse the 10 degrees of gun depression to function as a mid-range second line heavy. The turret is cheese though so don't expect any bounces. Since the gun handling is not stellar, I find that playing around within 150 to 250m is effective. Any further than that and the aim time as well as poor accuracy will really troll you. So in conclusion: This tank is not meant to be sniper like the Tiger I. In fact, it is terrible as a sniper, with shit DPM and terrible gun handling. Don't snipe from 350m and above if you can help it. I play this tank either as a second-line brawler or a second-line sniper support. You want to be within 300m to make the gun work. Also, the map meta change has made sniping with a big fat heavy all the more difficult. The tank teaches you how to conserve your health and only poke out to shoot when there's no return fire, all of which are essential skills that carry over to playing the AMX 50 100. If there's anyone that can make a case for using the DCA 45 which I've so condemned, I would love to hear your opinions. Also, I'd like to hear whether you agree with my somewhat counter-intuitive playstyle. P.S. Hooray for VIRGIN POST.

    AMX 50Bae

Thanks to tourney/cw gold, I will be completely skipping the AMX 50 120 and will be jumping straight into the 50B, a tank that has been on my shopping list since it's release that I only made decent progress on grinding towards about 2 months ago. I do however understand that I will be missing out on the learning of playing the tier 9 version but am pretty set on my decision. So what tips do you 50B drivers have regarding equipment/consumable loadout and tactics? Which camo patterns look the sexiest?
  13. A while back I put together some sort of challenge for myself for the batchat. I'd love any sort of feedback, be it suggestions, someone else who wants to challenge me with a certain objective or anything else... I'm doing this because I love playing this thing, and it was my first X, so some stat repairing won't hurt. I'm also annoying you people with this because I seem to perform better when someone's watching over my shoulder (or at least when I have that feeling) The goal was/is to increase the stats as following: Get the victories up to 63% from 53%. I need to average ~65,54%. Raise dpg from 2.590 to 3.510 (which is 9damaging shots). Need an average of 3.754 dpg. Frags: 1,59 -> 2. Need 2,75 per game. Spots: 3,48 -> 5. Need 5,41/game, this is a somewhat useless metric, so I'm not really focusing on this one. If I manage these goals, the overall WN8 for batmobile should be over 4.000. How am I supposed to reach these results? Platoons? 50% ish of the battles, very often they are 2man platoons as well. HEAT? Almost never use it, when I do, I probably carry 30rounds of them for reasons I explained in the Batchat appreciation thread. I'm not planning to do all these battles within a certain time period. I just love playing the bat and will see where it leads me. First ~500 battles (1.045-> 1.503): stats & thoughts Second ~500 battles; breaking down over 100 from now Second 100 Third 100, too much yoloswag Fourth 100 - I'm horrible, anyone buy my account? Question to the readers: are interested in both semi-good and great replays, or only the excellent ones (4k+ damage)? If you are interested in this at all...
  14. FTR has reported that "new French heavy line will definitely not come in 2014 or 2015" As a self-diagnosed Francophile, I am extremely disappointed that the 2nd French heavy line (modeled back in 7.5(?)) will be delayed again. Ugh. /Begin rant Anyone else pissed that the French are getting shorted again? I know they got knocked out of WWII early but I find it infuriating that Germany gets the completely BS WTF E100 while the French tree stagnantly rots away, cursed by crap low tiers that WG has conveniently forgotten (I am looking at you, SAu S40, AMX 40, and B1) about and a lack of new content (that they could implement at any time, barring HD remodel). Speaking of which, anyone notice that none of the tanks getting HD remodels are French? Is it just me in my blue-white-red haze that thinks the French tree deserves some love? /rant over Your thoughts?
  15. Hello Wotlabs community, Time for some E-peen waving (is that the correct usage of the term?) I just bought my first tier 10 tank today, the AMX 50B. Things I like: 1) It has gun depression/elevation! (50 120 has +/-6, this has -8/+11) 2) Hull is bouncy! (People see French tank and shoot center mass but 170mm + weird slope = troll armor) 3) Dang it's fast! (actually feels French. 50 120 for me was sluggish until it got up to speed) 4) 2.5 sec aim time/2.5 sec inter-clip reload (down from 3/3.33 respectively) 5) It's my first tier X (has been over a year/6k battles in coming, thanks to grinding multiple French lines at once) 6) It is not the 50 120 (couldn't come to grips with the poor gun handling/gun elevation and depression combo) 7) Full clip Reload speed is about 5 secs faster than the 50 120 (had it down to around 32.78 secs on the 50 120, hear it can get to about 27.? once crew is 110-121%(BIA+ Vents+Commander bonus) 8 ) I have a 100% WR in it (won 1 CW battle on the test map(that should be tier 8 ), thanks for 100% tax WG) Things I don't like: 1) Its expensive to run and I don't have a tier 8 prem (Welcome to tier X! Here is your repair bill!) 2) I suck@tonks, but that's why I am here at WoTlabs. Biggest drawback is my own skill level. Any advanced tips or replays? It seems like a souped-up 50 120 but is there anything different about its playstyle? Thank you for your help.

    FCM 50T

So, with the Gold i will get from selling my Superpershing in 8.8 (goodbye old friend) I am planning on buying the FCM 50T. The reason im planning on buying it over say, the IS-6 is because I want a french heavy crew trainer. So can owners of the FCM give me a run down of its playstyle, how effective it is, its earning potential, Equipment setup, etc please? I will try it out on the test server when its comes back up, but for now I would like a review of the tank itself, and opinions of it from other players. Thanks.
  17. So heres my set-up (Crew freshly retrained from the 1390) Now I'm running Vents/GLD/VStab because I heard its aim time was a pain, is this a correct set-up or should I opt for another one? Whats the recommended ammo-loadout? Any general tips on playing the tank? Im finding a hard time doing anything and artillery will follow me all match just to splash/shoot me.. *(Pisses me off) I'll try to put some replays up, but if someone could put a replay up on how to play the lorraine that would be great, and of course, any tips and tricks are welcome. Thanks Also: Is the engine worth it? 36k seems like a lot out of the 180ish needed for the bat
  18. Back in the game after a few months of hiatus (stopped just after learning my 21,000 83mm shells were not profitable). Decided to push further up the French light / medium line, and made it here now. My trouble is I've never played an autoloader. I read that you play it as a passive scout / vulture / endgame tank, but I've not really done passive scouting either, only mildly successful active scouting in my T-50. 12t can't into zipping around. And I basically hadn't payed any attention to these tanks when I played my others, so I've just remained blissfully unaware. http://wotreplays.com/site/241366?secret=84513222508b1e3173eeefbf2e66c109 http://wotreplays.com/site/241370?secret=84513222508b1e3173eeefbf2e66c109 http://wotreplays.com/site/241373?secret=84513222508b1e3173eeefbf2e66c109 I think this gives a reasonable smattering, though misses the campy thing I tend to do on Prokhovorka (sp?) and tier 10 Redshire camp-by-the-middle-houses stuff. I also tend to eat a shot once after being spotted in my bush because I don't have 6th sense or a good "feel" for it, but I do generally get out before dying. Really enjoying the burst damage, especially in tier 7 fights. One of the more beneficial things I think I can do is lrn2passivescout, which would involve a more detailed knowledge of sight ranges / ranges in general, which I don't have beyond a "feel" level, and a MUCH better knowledge of good bushes to hide in. I'm also not sure how to handle the pressure to suiscout in high tier games besides ignoring my team's whining. ("It'll do in a pinch" my ass. A pinch of salt and it'd do good in a stew. Suicide, I tells ya.) Not very far into this tank (30-40 battles; ~95% base crew), but I'd rather avoid the same learning curve I had to go through in my T-50. Because nobody likes a 40% scout tank. Mainly looking for either critique or good in-depth playstyle guidelines (or both). ----- As an aside, I was called out for not pushing Pearl River north valley from east spawn by a player who's winrate is above my level. I haven't played in a while, but the ~15 times I did play it over the weekend, I didn't see a single successful east-side valley push (100% failure rate is pretty special). I've never tried to push from that side though ... mostly because I've seen no success in doing so; I'm not that educated here. Am I wrong to encourage bridge camping as the preferred alternative?

    The Lorraine 40T

So, I have been playing this tank for about 3 days now and I am asking for any tips on how to drive the tank. It's a hard transition form the amx1390 to the tier 9 fat turd of a medium. Any general tips would be helpful, such as when should I engage an enemy when I should run away, and is it better to snipe at the beginning and swoop in at the end? Should I be scouting in tier 10 battles, etc. (I have the upgraded 100mm gun)
