Hi Tankers, I don't really come on here much, in fact I dont really come on many web pages. It had taken my laptop 3 minutes alone to load this page. My name is Addin and I'm a kid from Indonesia who loves playing the game you love. Except, I can't really play it and this is a plea for change; change for good. I'm not poor kid trying to escape a war or anything. My needs are just more close to your hearts than this. I need some hardware that will let me play WOT on more than 20fps on minimum settings. My current laptop specs : Intel I3 3110m (32bit), Intel HD 4k, 2GB ram (I'm not good at this spec thing, but my friends told me that it is completely outdated) https://gogetfunding.com/i-need-fund-to-escape-20-fps-on-minimum-setting/
  2. Hey everyone, ive had paris a few times in my least few battles, and realised that i have no idea what to do on this map. i can't brawl in heavies or mediums, and using the north for scouting is campy as heck and doesn't influence the game. i was wondering how you guys brawl (positions) and where you go in a scout. replays, positions, guidance, whatever, anything will help. thanks, garry.
  3. So last night my GPU started overheating and turning off and I realized my fans are not spinning. (I have a GTX 980ti G1 Gaming). The "silent mode" lights are on and the fans turn off as soon as windows 10 boots up. Even when I'm playing graphically intensive games the fans wont turn on. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it didn't work. I'm clueless when it comes to computers please help. Update: I got my fans working but for some reason it still crashes. I don't know what the hell is going on with my pc.
  4. First off, these are my thoughts and what I've concluded from playing these maps. If you have any valuable input please share, it's meant to be informational for the less skilled and for those who seek to learn. I'll also do maps a few at a time, because writing for over 30 maps in one go ain't gonna be pretty lel I will also take replay requests/specific walk throughs of things you don't understand or need to get into further I will share thoughts on both spawns if they differ a lot (for example Abbey and Airfield plays similarly meanwhile Arctic Region and Sand River plays differently depending on the spawn you have) and I will share my thoughts on Assault modes from both spawns as well, I don't play encounter so sadly won't be giving any input on it. (Will also add drawing of some form of heatmap how I play them when I have a better internet connection and can actually upload them) Linking the micropositioning thread here because I'm gonna make use of it, get it For the Heatmaps, red is firing lines, yellow is spotting, black is movement and grey circles are spots where you engage The Maps: Abbey: Airfield: Arctic Region: Cliffs: El Halluf: Ensk: Erlenberg: (Plays the same on both standard and assault basically) Karelia (both standard and assault): Assault: Overlord: Swamp: Windstorm: (shitstorm) I just realised these map pictures are outdated ;_; will update with the heatmaps tomorrow!
  5. So right now I want to kill myself half the time I play WoT, any other game, or just try to do more than 2 things at once with my MacBook Pro. Because it's a Mac, I can't even install texture compression. Today, I had a run of 5 or less fps over 90 minutes, which was tilting as fuck, making me play even worse than my scrub ass usually does (I'm so tilted right now that I'm getting 500 WN8 games). That kind of made me decide that maybe it's time to build a PC. Unfortunately for me, I'm a poor-ass university student without a job (don't even own a prem tank lel), so money is kind of an issue, and I can't buy all new parts (at least, if I want a decent build). Dear UK/EU (especially London) WoTLabs community, I'd be extremely grateful if you were to offer to sell me your used PC parts, so I don't have to sperg off in the chat about having lower fps than Gandaran's old PC. Right now I don't have a specific build in mind yet, so anything goes, I'm starting from scratch. I'll update this post if anything develops. Edit1: Folterknecht has advised me against using a used PSU and HDD. That's the first thing I've bought into. Edit2: Swoomcy is selling me some of his shit, just need him to upgrade his GPU too , still need a mini ATX case
  6. Hello. I need a new mouse, pls halp. So recently my mouse has been acting up. I need a new one. I'll mostly use it for csgo and wot. All I want out of a new mouse it a good sensor (no common issues or built in mouse acceleration), and for it to be light weight as I game on low sensitivity so I lift my mouse a lot (insert Flusha cheating accusation here). I've been looking at a few Zowie mice (FK2 and EC2-a) and the Fnatic Flick G1. Anyone own any of these who can comment on them? Also any recommendations? I tried my brothers Steelseries Sensei Raw for an hour or so. I like the feel of it, but I've heard that the sensor is flawed and has built in mouse acceleration that cannot be disabled, is there any truth to that? Also a quick edit: I use 400 and sometimes 800 dpi. Send halp
  7. So, it all began one lovely sunday morning when I realised that I have enough free experience to unlock the top gun on my Lorraine (havent payed it stock because I was too scared, Ive heard enough horror stories about it) and so I did it. I had bit of a temptation to play my shiny new tank with convenient new gun. First few games were not that bad, even though I didnt have absolutely any idea on how to play it, I didnt suck that muchn in it. But like 10 battles passed and I felt the ultimate feeling of frustration and confusion. As soon as I got spotted, everyone started swinging ther guns around and shooting the crap out of me. And they couldnt miss since it is big as barn. Okay, maybe I was at bad place at bad time. So I gave it another try, this time there were like 3 spgs on enemy team. You know whats coming, right? As soon as I was lit up, bam. Dead. It was happening to me all the time at any given time. Just so much focus. I thought that I could at least somewhat abuse my camo rating and snipe from a bush. Nope. Camo is shit on Lorraine (from my experience). You cant hold position due to long magazine reload time when youre defenseless. You cant bounce shots due to armor made from fucking cardboard. You cant snipe due to mediocre accuracy and terribad aim time. You cant play it like a light tank because when you try to fire on the move, youre just waisting your shots. So I need advice. I think I got a general idea on how to play it (like kill isolated targets, finish off low hp enemies, support heavies etc.) and I had some pretty nice games in it, but like 2/3 games I end up surrounded without exit route, reloading and in fact dead. Or I just get rushed by bunch of enemy mediums and lights. Any advice is welcome. Also, sorry for my english, its not my native language.
  8. I have T6 but would really like some help figuring ... pretty much everything out. That's really quite general, but I have a good understanding of the BASICS, like, shooting and such, as well as crew skills. But when it comes to say, scouting, view range, signal range, angling of the armors and such ... Blegh. My in-game name is ___M00N___ (The "O"s are actually zeros by the way, and there are 3 underscores on either side.) Thanks!
  9. So, I managed to do this. Replay link here. What could've I done instead? Any suggestions?
  10. Like the title is saying, I suck at the JT. I keep trying different ways to play it but I can't make it work. I had no problems at all with the Ferdi. My JT is full, I free XP the modules. Here is my setup. N I don't have a better crew. When I try to play it like a sniper, Arty fucks me up because I get spotted by everyone and I get flanked by scouts or mediums that yoloed or flanked the other side. When I try to play mid range, I get focus snipe and flanked by mediums. When I play it close combat, I get flank and everyone pen me and focus me. I'm asking for help now because I have 20 games in it. I have 20% winrate and not even 1000 WN8. I suck real bad. Here is a replay where I play like a sniper but god I know I made a shit ton of bad decision. http://wotreplays.com/site/2295777?secret=551a4835d24087e9cd484aea2318df00 Thank you in advance
  11. So recently I bought a pair of head phones to find out the audio jack on my tablet was not working (It's some cheap tablet my parents got me a while back). I was planning on getting a new one in a few months, but before I opened it I heard stuff rattling around, turns out it was falling apart on the inside... So now I guess I need to get a new one now. I don't know where to start looking for a tablet or what to look at, so I came here. All I want out of it is to be rigid enough not to fall apart on it's own. All I'll be doing with it is web browsing and youtube or netflix videos. I'd prefer not to spend too much money, because what I spend is coming out of my computer money, so maybe up to 300$ give or take a little. My last tablet was a windows tablet if that matters.
  12. So after last years attempt to get a proper rig failed due to lack of time and dedication I finally want to get rid of my 8yo . Goal is to get a decent machine that lasts several years without having to do major upgrades and is mainly used for music production and WoT and costing me at the very most 800€ w/o peripherals and OS. Here's what I've got so far using Logical Increments and pcpartpicker, no fancy research because that's a pain with a phone. PCPartPicker part list: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/2Ydb99 Price breakdown by merchant: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/2Ydb99/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor (€204.95 @ Mindfactory) music production requires a good balance between single core and multi core performance so this seems like the best choice. I'm not sure about seperate cooling, i won't overclock and don't worry about a bit of noise so it seems rather useless to me. Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (€84.27 @ Mindfactory) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Red 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (€52.73 @ Mindfactory) Storage: Sandisk X110 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€61.92 @ Mindfactory) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€53.82 @ Mindfactory) nothing fancy needed here, fine as long as it isn't China trash. I'm looking for maximum bang for my buck so spending money on a 0.1% performance increase isn't something I want to do. Video Card: HIS Radeon R9 380 4GB IceQ X² OC Video Card (€226.79 @ Mindfactory) here i just have no idea. 380 worth it vs something like 280 or 280X? What about 2GB vs 4GB, it's about a 40€ difference. right now WoT is my most demanding game but running current games at a decent framerate and being able to use 2 1080p screens would be nice too. Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case (€80.05 @ Mindfactory) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply (€43.66 @ Amazon Deutschland) Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-14 DVD/CD Writer (€15.62 @ Amazon Deutschland) again nothing fancy needed. Total: €823.81 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-08-28 16:23 CEST+0200 767€ disregarding shipping since it's free with Mindfactory after midnight. any advice from you guys would be great
  13. So um, I'm using WG's own wrapper and I'd like to start uploading to vBAddict (mostly for MoE purposes), but I've been searching as hell but I can't find the dossier and upload it manually, and since ADU is an .exe program it won't run. I googled around and saw that it should be possible to get it using other wrappers such as Wine and stuff, but I can't for the love of wot work this one out... I've also asked this on the vBA forums but I figured some of you techies here might have a solution as well.
  14. Hello fellow Captains! (although at this point I don't consider myself a Captain... maybe more of a steward?) It took me several thousand battles in WoT to figure out that I sucked. It has taken less than one hundred in WoWS to get that same feeling. Allow me to elaborate (and rant a bit). Prepare your butts for a wall o' text. I really suck at playing battleships. I currently have the Wyoming and I am finding it a good ship but severely limited by my skills and perhaps the game mechanics as well (more on that later). More specifically, I am struggling with... 1. Citadel hits: Despite the finicky nature of long-ranged combat, I am having trouble doing more than average damage on my shots because I can't consistently aim for citadels. Even with the Wyoming a well-aimed salvo is lucky to hit more than 4 times at long (10-14km) ranges. Most of the other shots straddle the target, making each shot count because guess what, you have a 30s reload on your hands. Is the best place to get citadel hits still by aiming at the waterline? 2. Destroyers: The bane of battleship's existence. Let's pretend you are driving a Maus on a completely flat map that is only swampy terrain. Then, give a LT on the enemy team the ability to fire the equivalent of a JPE100 gun (albeit with a terrible shell velocity) while remaining unspotted by you. Furthermore, let him fire it multiple times in a spread. By the time you see the torpedoes, it is already too late for your big, fat battleship arse to turn. Furthermore, if you manage to have a DD in your sights, have the AP broadside that you have loaded for everything else (and probably weighing more than the ship you fired it at XD) over-penetrate and do minimal damage, allowing him 30 seconds to HE spam/burn you to death while remaining enticingly out of your secondary weapon's range. That has been my experience playing in a BB against a Destroyer. I consistently get wrecked by them and I am pretty sure it is operator error. Smug opponents have berated me for "Not staying 12km away" (DD's are 2x faster than me, I couldn't even if I wanted to. Besides, I am in an American BB, which barely has 12km of firing range as it is. If I am that far away from enemy destroyers (who are usually near the front) I am wayyy too far back to be of any use to the team) and "Straying from my cruiser picket line" (teamwork in WoWS is limited to driving in front of you as you release a full spread of torps at the enemy). Any good BB drivers (like Tedster?) have suggestions for how to deal with enemy destroyers? 3. Torpedo Bombers: Yes, I am watching my minimap. Yes, I can see them coming. Yes, I ctr+click on them to give my AA batteries a better chance at hitting them. I even go so far as making sluggish turns to try and throw their aim off. Well, I still haven't shot a plane down and while I have avoided torpedoes more often than not, I haven't picked up on the animation that signals they are going to drop torps (anyone have a video of this?) I feel this is one skill you can never be too good at. 4. Spotting mechanics: Unlike WoT, there is no set viewrange for each ship, rather a range at which that ship can be detected. This means that the little icon that tells me that I am detected is constantly lit, sometimes less that 30 seconds out of the spawn point. This also leads to ships (mainly destroyers with their high concealment attribute and ability to pop a somkescreen) to simply disappear. I find this incredibly frustrating and as far as I know there is not much I can do about it. 5. The Phoenix: Yes, I know, it isn't battleship related. But of all the ships I have played, it feels the most uncomfortable. It feels like a destroyer/cruiser mix that has none of the redeeming qualities of either class. Besides free xping it (not an option), is there any advice for playing this ship? As of now it is completely stock. I know this is a lot of text so if you have made it this far, good for you. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated, because I am not good at this thing called ships. Thanks for your help! I can maybe put some replays up if I figure out how to activate them. My apologies for not having any at this time.
  15. Don't know, need advise: http://wotreplays.com/site/2029974#malinovka-shftymagoo-e_50
  16. Hey guys, quick question here. So I've been reading through some of the map guides after taking an extended break and wanted to refamiliarize myself and learn all the changes for the maps. My questions is in two parts, are Sela's map guides still up to date and if so, is this mod () still compatiable with tonks? Cheers
  17. First off, don't believe the stats, I'm really a yellowish-light green player (thanks Derpy ) I'm mainly looking for some help with heavies, specifically, the IS-4, IS-3, and German box tanks (I'm currently on the VK3601). Help with the Bromwell also, as it is my tier 6 stronghold tank. Areas I'm looking to improve: 1. Using terrain/cover in different situations/maps, and choosing the best way to get from point A to point B without exposing myself too much during a fight, and when to do so. I tend to take too much early damage because I don't use cover well. 2. General brawling, how to defeat a side-scrape, improve/how to tell when I am successfully hulldown, strengths/weaknesses of the tank I'm in. 3. Tips on how to exercise good judgement re:#1 and #2 above, and how to improve situational awareness during a battle. Not necessarily when to head back to cap or switch flanks, but things like, "I shouldn't go to point A because it makes me vulnerable to fire from point B, stuff like that. Like #1 above, I tend to take early damage do to poor judgement in movement, and my acute yoloitis . 4. Ensk. I know it is the oldest map in the game, but I derp HARD on it, at least on higher tiers. 5. Overcoming my fear of higher tier play. Currently all I have are the ST-I/IS-4 to start with, but working towards the IS-7/E100. 6. Any tips/special considerations for organized team play. I'm not looking to be a pubstar, I don't care the least bit about stats, I just want to be relevant in team battles/strongholds/CW. Also, I'm not one of those guys looking to be carried in a platoon for wins. Don't get me wrong, winning is great, but I want to learn how to do it for myself. I am getting some help from my new clan, they are great guys, but I'd like to improve a bit outside of that. Availability: I try to do clan activities weeknights, so weekends work the best. Compensation: Paypal, gift shop stuff, gold/prem/Bromwell, etc.. Thanks!
  18. Getting back into the game this week so I can be ready to exploit Spring Break. Mostly played solo in the past, but I'm looking to play more games in a platoon. Not really any requirements. Just know things that make you win more. Mostly tier 8 and 9, with some 5 for credit grinding: I'll specify what tier I'm playing when I send out invites. I prefer silent because I sound like a 10 year old, but I can do TS if you insist. FYI ~ I also don't have 10s
  19. Hello, I am a tank, I have been working on becoming a better tank. I have improved greatly over the last few months, but it seems I have hit a plateau at around 2k WN8. What I'm looking for is a teacher/tutor/mentor (whatever you want to call it) to help me get past this slump. Someone to platoon with me, and either give me solid directions/positions or answer my stupid questions. I've listed the tanks I currently run below in order of my proficiency (in my opinion)/comfort in them. I would like it for you to have equal or better stats than me, unless there is a special circumstance where you are very good at strategy/meta/calling but have bad internet or something that hinders your ability to get high wn8. I use Teamspeak and you are welcome to join me on the RDDT server, or I will come to yours. I play on NA East every day, usually around 3 pm EST after class for an hour or two, then around 8-10 pm EST for a couple more hours. Tanks Least comfortable/proficient: SU-122-44 (halp) Jt 8.8 Waffle (I do decent damage in it, but I am not getting its full potential) Somewhat comfortable/proficient: IS-6 Chaffee Matilda IV Churchill III IS-7 WZ-111 Comfortable/proficient: Batchat 25t Obj. 140 E-25 Obj. 416 T34 (1200 games in it) PzIC (best tank NA) I'll add more if I buy them/start playing them Tanks for taking the time to read this ;], and I look forward to learning from you if you are willing Regards, IAmA_Tank_AMA P.S. I'm broke so I cannot give any financial incentive to help me P.P.S. I curse a lot in TS so please no prudes Edit: added what server I play and what times Edit2: changed tanks
  20. 1st of all I have no idea where to put this but whatever. basically I have ran into a problem many times that I never really thought about... When I'm in a close match and a lot of the winning is up to me I get extremely jittery, like my aim will suffer and I can really feel the pressure. I just aim so bad that literally I can miss an IS-7's tracks at 20meters, I've had this problem before when playing pubs, CW, skirmishes, and wglna before aswell... What do you guys do to decrease being jittery? I've decided for now that I'm gonna take a small 5-10minute break some deep breathing and a cup of water after a match like that. But in game is there anything I can do? because I don't want to be all jittery when I need a clutch 1v2 and I can't aim. and if I were to enter WGL again I don't think my team would want me to have a decrease in effectiveness later in the game that would carry over to the next match.
  21. Once finals are over, I'm probably going to be playing much more than I normally do. I decided to use a third of this time to play arty on EU. Plsno arty haterino, I want to have an EU account and ping sucks. I have yet to make an account so I can offer a T95E2 to someone who's willing to grind up with me, preferably purple recent. Also, what should I name my account? Why_So_SEA_RU_EU_US add meh
  22. So I know some peeps have done it before, I think they called em macros... where you hit a key and it will put a chat phrase or something in chat... I wanna make some for my new e-persona. Thanks Brothers!
  23. So recently there's been quite an absence of command in where I'm in right now and I decided to try to fill in the hole as we're still in the growing phase, motivation are still high, good thing is. As I usually play the role of a soldier in the clan I ever been in, and hardly takes up commanding/calling, there's things I'm still wondering and curious on the get go, First off, we're short on dedicated callers, I'm trying to get the initiative of letting people to start calling battles via TB or stronks but its seems they're just discouraged at the risk of letting down the team or disappointing performance, how do I supposedly motivate or nudge them to do so? Secondly, how to efficiently manage chips and Global Map related work? I know the basics, but what are the supposedly better way to manage these kind of things? Third, what exactly is expected of an officer mostly? PS : not sure if this is the right part of the forum, so pardon if it I'm mistaken.
  24. Hey! Bought myself a shiny new IS-6 today and decided I want to IS-6 properly. I will be doing a 50 battle challenge with a few goals in mind: Achieve 60% WR in it, deal an average of 2200 damage, 30% Survival rate and get 1.5 kills per game. Stats will be tracked with Tank Numbers and posted when I can. Here is my setup for anyone interested: o7o7o7o7
  25. So I got a new job while back and the paychecks are starting rolling in. Most of the $ I am setting apart to save for a new gaming pc. But I want it mainly to stream World of Tanks and run it at a highest graphical settings if possible. By early-mid July I will have around the target budget of 1,300-1,500$. But I currently want to get the idea of what parts I need to build the pc. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to pc building but I have an idea of how to put a pc together. I have built the one I have currently, but following a YouTube video heh. I want to buy the parts as I gather the monies, so that I don't spend it on other things, like food. Thanks!
