  1. There is really no comparing this tank to any other tank at tier 6. The 105, if it was any better, would be overpowered. On the ARL it is simply serviceable. With 223 base pen, 330 alpha damage, and a base RoF of 5.6 it has everyone else beat on pen, and almost everyone else beat on damage. The gun has in class dispersion values that compare almost favorably to the 122 on the KV-85, another gun that shoots stuff. It has armor that bounces almost anything a tier 4 can throw at it, as long as they don't shoot the turret, and it can actually sidescrape (no joke here it can). In the mobility department the ARL clearly outpaces other moving tanks like the O-I and Churchill VII. With a blistering top speed of 37 kph and 16 power to weight it outpaces tanks carefully selected for being slow. Truly a powerhouse of tier 6, only the venerable Churchill game carrier can compete with this stale baguette shooting monster. Also why the hell does this thing get a bullshit gun? Like what the actual fuck Wargaming? It just deletes tier 4s and 5s. I might have to keep this tank for "3 marking".
  2. Played a couple matches on the test server and this might actually be worth the 261k xp cost. Maybe it's just test server pubbies, but I did almost 3k dmg in my first game in it. Pros: -Good gun depression -Decent camo -415m base VR means that you can hit 460+ with a halfway decent crew -Feels like a small Batchat -27s base clip reload is comfortable -Can mount a Vert. Stab (IIRC the French tiers 8 and 9 can too, not sure about the AMX 12t or the 13 75) -Aimtime is less than interclip and I got mine down to around 2.16s -Small size Cons: -Somewhat sluggish (high hp/ton but I'm guessing it's murdered by soft stats) -Turns slowly (like many French high tiers) -Limited clip potential -High bloom even with a Vert stab. I might be grinding this out on my account when it gets released, especially since the 13 90 at tier 9 got a nice pen buff at the expense of clip potential. I can see the French LT's becoming good hit-and-run assassins, and this thing was really fun to play. Besides, LT missions won't do themselves!
  3. So, it all began one lovely sunday morning when I realised that I have enough free experience to unlock the top gun on my Lorraine (havent payed it stock because I was too scared, Ive heard enough horror stories about it) and so I did it. I had bit of a temptation to play my shiny new tank with convenient new gun. First few games were not that bad, even though I didnt have absolutely any idea on how to play it, I didnt suck that muchn in it. But like 10 battles passed and I felt the ultimate feeling of frustration and confusion. As soon as I got spotted, everyone started swinging ther guns around and shooting the crap out of me. And they couldnt miss since it is big as barn. Okay, maybe I was at bad place at bad time. So I gave it another try, this time there were like 3 spgs on enemy team. You know whats coming, right? As soon as I was lit up, bam. Dead. It was happening to me all the time at any given time. Just so much focus. I thought that I could at least somewhat abuse my camo rating and snipe from a bush. Nope. Camo is shit on Lorraine (from my experience). You cant hold position due to long magazine reload time when youre defenseless. You cant bounce shots due to armor made from fucking cardboard. You cant snipe due to mediocre accuracy and terribad aim time. You cant play it like a light tank because when you try to fire on the move, youre just waisting your shots. So I need advice. I think I got a general idea on how to play it (like kill isolated targets, finish off low hp enemies, support heavies etc.) and I had some pretty nice games in it, but like 2/3 games I end up surrounded without exit route, reloading and in fact dead. Or I just get rushed by bunch of enemy mediums and lights. Any advice is welcome. Also, sorry for my english, its not my native language.
  4. My all time favorite and first tier X (still "fixing stats" years later) is subject to some changes. Since the general thread is full of nonsense I decided to make this topic where we can discuss these changes specifically in the case of the batchat. I'm going to try and track solo games so that I actually try. Obviously, there won't be data enough to compare seriously so what you'll get after my first batch of 9.9 games is just subjective "facts". Changes (planned for now) I'm not really all up to date with things like dispersion and ground resistance (I mean honestly, it's just a game). What I do know is that the dispersion will be way better for just a little pen nerf. 241 is still enough to punch through a lot of most tX heavies. Which isn't what you should be doing anyway. Therefor, my opinion for now is that bat will be buffed. The one negative thing I expect is that you'll have to be more careful when taking out other meds. The russians for example have enough traverse to keep their front at you, and if they do so, the auto-aim that was 9/10 legit to use, might cause problems now. So that "little pen nerf" might not be as innocent as it looks after all. Naturally you can always aim or try to flank better, but all that is going to cost time, which may cost HP. I'll post most interesting replays since people barely seem to download all of them (from previous challenge experiences). Played a game earlier, it's not amazing but it might show you why the dispersion changes are going to be so gud (like you didn't know that already :doge:) http://www.mediafire.com/download/m8v1avewib4mpib/20150623_0652_Test_himmelsdorf_winter.wotreplay Better make a challenge out of it, because reading is boring right? WR 63%3.400dpgWhat do you think about the changes? Good or bad + why?
  5. AMX Chasseur de Chars What was originally going to be part of the French tree, before WG scrapped the idea of this specific tree, the AMX Chasseur de Chars was going to be a tier 7 medium tank. However, with some rework, it could work as a tier 8 medium, or with some major modifications, a tier 8/9 TD. Historical statistics: Engine: 1,200 hp Top speed: Unknown (presumably something high, definitely 60-70 km/h) Weight: 34 t Main cannon: 90mm DCA 45 Armor: 30mm on the front, 20mm most other places Ammunition carried: 90 rounds Crew: 4; commander, gunner, loader, driver Gun elevation: 7 (?) degrees of gun depression, 20 degrees of gun elevation Length: 7.38 m Width: 3.25 m Height: 2.70 m 35 hp/t, 90mm gun, fully rotating turret, small profile, very high speed. The AMX Ch.DeCh would, from a gameplay standpoint, be an ELC on steroids, speed, heroin, and then some more steroids. It would be amazingly fast, have very good camo (as either a medium or a TD) and have a fast-firing DCA 45 with buffed stats, should it appear in a TD form. Should it remain a medium tank, it would most likely have similar gun stats to the FCM 50t. Were it to appear as a tier 9 TD, it would probably fire APCR as standard ammo, with significantly buffed aim time and accuracy, and a rate of fire somewhere between 11 to 14, depending on if it would be a tier 8 or tier 9 TD. Needless to say, it would be a very interesting vehicle regardless of which tank class it would appear as, and I would love to see it added to the game. Bonus image. Lorraine Canon D'Assaut While not planned by WG to appear in the French tree, it has been rumored to be eventually added. Historical statistics: Engine: Unknown (presumably the same as the Lorraine 40t, either 850 hp or 980 hp) Top speed: 62 km/h Weight: 25 t Main cannon: 90mm DCA 45 OR 100mm SA47 Armor: Unknown (presumably the same as the Lorraine 40t, 40mm on the front and sides, 25mm on the rear) Ammunition carried: Unknown (presumably the same as the Lorraine 40t, 60 rounds with the DCA 45, 48 with the SA47) Crew: 5; (presumed to be) commander, gunner, loader, loader, driver Gun elevation: Unknown Gun arc: Unknown Length: 10.8 m Width: 3.30 m Height: 2.60 m While not much is known about this assault gun, it was supposedly inspired by the German JgPzIV and based on the chassis of the Lorraine 40t medium tank. Having no place in the tech tree, as there supposedly aren't enough French TDs for a second branch, it would make a great premium tank. It would be a significantly different premium TD, compared to the FCM PaK 40 at tier 3. Should it use the DCA, it would be a tier 7 premium TD with normal matchmaking, meaning it sees tier 9. Should it have the SA47, it would be a tier 8 premium TD with limited matchmaking, meaning it sees tier 9 at highest. To me, 0.33 accuracy, 2s aim time, and 10 RPM would be good for the DCA 45. With the SA47, you'd be looking at around 7.5 RPM, 0.35 accuracy, and 1.9s aim time. It would have the same rate of fire, better aim time, but worse accuracy than the SA47 on the AMX AC 48. The main features of the Lorr. CDA would be amazing mobility thanks to its hp/t, a low profile, and fast-aiming and accurate guns with good rates of fire. Its drawbacks would be very thin armor, very exposed tracks, and a long profile. Bonus picture. Sources:
  6. So we all know this tank gets a lot of flak for being one of the worst heavies tier for tier, mainly because it has no workable armour, mediocre view range and poor fire control. Basically people call it a shitty Tiger I. So far, I've played only around 20 games in this machine. Here is my take on how to work this tank, and I'll be delighted to here your opinions on it. So first of all, we have the gun choice (DCA 45 vs 105). I strongly believe that using the 105 is the way to go. Why? DPM of the DCA 45 is utter trash. It has a base DPM of 1675 while the 105 has like 200 damage more. Enough said. Penetration on the 105 with judicious gold usage is workable. 223 gold pen is tier 8 heavy pen which will generally be enough for 66% of the matches you face. AP pen of 165 is also very workable for tier 7 enemies and below. Of course, expect to make a credit loss for most games (without a premium account). APCR has 330 alpha, which is 30 more than the normal round (increasing the base DPM to a respectable 2062) Aim time is equal for both guns. Now on to the playstyle of this tank. I've seen many advocate a snipey playstyle similar to the Tiger I, using the DCA 45 with extreme pen. I disagree with staying at ranges above 350m. Unlike the Tiger I, your fire control is way inferior and your alpha of 240 and shit DPM only tickles the enemy (assuming you hit). If you want to play a sniper heavy, that's where the Tiger I fills the role. Your AMX M4 is rightfully deserving of the title of a shitty Tiger if you play it like this. I strongly believe that using the 105 is the right way to go. With an alpha of 300 or 330, you have a good degree of stopping power. Don't be the idiot that tries to sidescrape. Let the actual heavies with armour tank most incoming hits while you are in a position to pump a 330 damage shell in any opponent's face. The 105 has a lot poorer accuracy at 0.41 compared to the DCA's 0.36, but this shortcoming can be mitigated by playing at close to mid-range as a support brawler role. So, I play this tank by providing presence in a corner brawl (e.g. supporting IS and T29s) but I stay behind them since my armour has little hope of bouncing anything. Once I'm sure there is going to be no return fire, I expose point blank and blast them in their faces. Don't underestimate 330 alpha at tier 7. Of course, when I'm not in a corner brawl, I'll be finding spots to abuse the 10 degrees of gun depression to function as a mid-range second line heavy. The turret is cheese though so don't expect any bounces. Since the gun handling is not stellar, I find that playing around within 150 to 250m is effective. Any further than that and the aim time as well as poor accuracy will really troll you. So in conclusion: This tank is not meant to be sniper like the Tiger I. In fact, it is terrible as a sniper, with shit DPM and terrible gun handling. Don't snipe from 350m and above if you can help it. I play this tank either as a second-line brawler or a second-line sniper support. You want to be within 300m to make the gun work. Also, the map meta change has made sniping with a big fat heavy all the more difficult. The tank teaches you how to conserve your health and only poke out to shoot when there's no return fire, all of which are essential skills that carry over to playing the AMX 50 100. If there's anyone that can make a case for using the DCA 45 which I've so condemned, I would love to hear your opinions. Also, I'd like to hear whether you agree with my somewhat counter-intuitive playstyle. P.S. Hooray for VIRGIN POST.
  7. Hey everyone So yesterday i bought the AMX AC 48, and my first impression is "I Love it!", BUT i got a problem with taking good positions on maps, Also would be nice if you can recommend some equipment on this TD. So basically i want to know best play styles and best positions for it, so your opinions are welcome.
  8. FTR has reported that "new French heavy line will definitely not come in 2014 or 2015" As a self-diagnosed Francophile, I am extremely disappointed that the 2nd French heavy line (modeled back in 7.5(?)) will be delayed again. Ugh. /Begin rant Anyone else pissed that the French are getting shorted again? I know they got knocked out of WWII early but I find it infuriating that Germany gets the completely BS WTF E100 while the French tree stagnantly rots away, cursed by crap low tiers that WG has conveniently forgotten (I am looking at you, SAu S40, AMX 40, and B1) about and a lack of new content (that they could implement at any time, barring HD remodel). Speaking of which, anyone notice that none of the tanks getting HD remodels are French? Is it just me in my blue-white-red haze that thinks the French tree deserves some love? /rant over Your thoughts?
