  1. I have a question regarding the spawn places on the Siegfried Line and it's the same for Bases 1 and 2. Sadly, I have only three screenshots, but believe me, every game is the same. Here are the screenshots: Why on earth do light tanks get a spawn place that is the furthest from the field area of the map, which makes them basically useless since you can't spot anything because you are 20-30 seconds late. What is the role of the scouts on this map? Can somebody explain me the logic behind this? I know they said that spawn places are random, but not once I got the spawn close so I can go and actually spot something. How do you play in this situation?
  2. Salute! I apologize if there was a poll like this already, couldn't find it. Since LT stats got reworked, meta changed a bit, and the fact that most of them are collecting rust and dust, I'm doing a cleanup. Regardless of game mode (CW or Randoms or even for Personal Missions), some have to stay, some have to go. What to KEEP? PS: Feel free to voice your opinion about your votes in the comments! PSS: Same poll can be found here, drop your vote there too: Rddt LT VI/VIII Poll
  3. The new tier 10 lights are often discussed at length, but I don't hear much about the tier 9s. I like to have at least one tank of each class at each tier. What are your thoughts on the tier 9 light tanks? Which of these tanks seem like they would be keepers?
  4. I'd just unlocked and bought the T71 (t'is on discount in SEA server) so what should i be expecting/look forward to? i've gotten pretty much gone through or am still at most of the other nation's tier 7 LTs [ AMX 13 75 LTTB M41 Bulldog SPIC WZ-131] so i'd like to think I know what i'm doing with light tanks so far. i've got a rough idea of what to expect, that it being similar to the AMX 13 75, but I'd just like to hear from others on their opinion/experience with this tank
  5. Hi guys, Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this, if so maybe someone can move it to the correct one. I'm looking for a list of light tank/scout streamer list. I've searched and not found any and thought it would be good to make one. I've seen a couple but the only one I can remember is 4tankersanddog. Maybe more players like me are having a difficult time finishing their LT missions and a good idea would be to make a list of dedicated light tank streamers/youtubers. So, please give some tips of good scout streamers and I'll update the list. 4TankersandDog - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0JAcvt-Q5GSoSMr8NIOS4A Tazilon - https://www.youtube.com/user/tazilon2003 Dreadshells - Dreadshells youtube

    Toldi III

Personally I already have a T-15. And atm i'm seeing mostly Toldis and czech tanks all over the place at low tiers. So far though the Toldi is alright. Might hang on to it. My best game so far: http://wotreplays.com/site/2343212#winter_himmelsdorf-thomchen114-43_m_toldi_iii
  7. I have just short of 100 battles in the thing, rocking a 49% winrate. I held a (admittedly quite) mediocre 53% w/r in the 131, with 136 battles played. In it I run optics/rammer/vstab, with food and I have a crew that's halfway through their full skill, with Sixth Sense/camo for the first. Second skills are Camo, Snapshot , Smooth Ride, and Situational Awareness. Third I'm working on, and it's all BiA. I use the t9 100mm. I'm going to post a few replays of my average games. Malinovka My rationale here was to spot from C5, keeping them out of the forest and off that little hill in F7, while providing fire support for my platoonmates on the hill. I then rotated back to base to help them get rid of the guys in it, and hopefully try to push to eliminate the E3 that was there. I failed miserably, and followed it up with plenty of sperging. Should I have gone back to base? What should I have done earlier on to help affect the game more? Airfield Individually it would appear I had a mediocre game. 1.5k damage done with 2k spotting. In reality, all I did was leech damage, and I lit two squishy, high health tanks for like, 4 shots from something big. I really feel like I didn't do much this match. Where could I have gone, and who could I have supported to be more beneficial to the team? Steppes (encounter) I really don't like encounter, but Canteen had suggested we turn it on for some missions or something like that. This is yet another game where I get the shit carried out of me. My plan was to try to spot tanks coming across out of spawn, which I ended up doing a little bit of. Again, I felt useless this match, and only doing 1k damage with no spotting compounded that. Should I have moved towards the heavies earlier, or did I make the right decision by putting fire on the Foch and IS, staying where I was? I can normally pick out when I play shittily, and when I should have moved, but in the replays above I am having a seriously rough time picking out exactly where I should have gone.
  8. Hi, I'm not a great light tank driver, but I think it is time I started driving these tanks more to optimize my map knowledge. Because at the moment I know it is seriously lacking. In order to get a little more structured feedback I've decided to take some print screens of the minimaps (just taken off the internet, don't look at the quality) and indicated where I go in my lights when the counter hits 0. The lines indicate only the initial locations where I go to, and depending on the deployment of the enemies I relocate or not. To keep it simple, I only indicate where I go, not where I want to spot or what I would like to do (active/passive). I also assume that the team setups allow me to go there in the first place, so it is not taken into account in these print screens. I'm assuming I'm a tier 6-7-8 scout in a high tier battle. Now I know that on plenty of maps I go to the wrong initial location, severely limiting my role in the game, just because I started of wrong in the first place. I get trapped or killed and so can't do much for my team. Could you guys go over the print screens and give me some pointers? Things I do wrong? Better locations to go to? If possible, could you do it in a format: Map Go to ... your position wrong because of ... Anyway, I hope we can have a collection here map locations for light tanks which can consolidate a lot of information from all the great players here. 9. Hello Everyone, I haven't played much since 9.0 and just recently decided to get back into things. I generally like to just focus on one tank and play it all the time. (I like leveling up a crew.) In the past I've used mainly the T49, ELC AMX, and I was just getting back into the VK 2801. I love all these tanks because they've been able to carry a lot of team. (I mainly solo pub). Recent updates have taken away a lot of the advantages of these tanks though. It seems like every updated map takes away the great scouting spots. And the TD firing bonus hurt my play-style too. (though with a 4 skill crew, high octain fuel, and vents; the T49 also plays very scout like). I'm wondering what's the best tank to carry in now days? Should I be trying out some Mediums? I never liked playing Heavies or slow TD's, but is that the direction to look in terms of carrying? Very interested in hearing all your experiences! Cheers,
  10. Hi! The September Light tanks mission is on, and as a reward they are giving out - a heavy tank. So far, I feel this mission (and the medium mission) is far more difficult than the previous ones, mostly because of only accounting base XP (yeah, another nerf to the premium account...). Previous missions required me to play ~15 games, but the last two days I did not finish the daily mission with less than ~25 games. I've been running the mission mostly with VK2801 (grinding this POS), Chaffee, Type 64 and AMX13-90. From the results, I seem to get the highest base XP with the french light tank. I've had some 1k XP games in my Chaffee, but the 2801 is plain terrible at getting consistent results. What is (would) be your choice? Is any of the light tanks preferable for this mission? And if so, why? Thnx! -=Graukatze=-
  11. Hey! I have a locust, and I love it to bits. Its a fun little machine, and wicked fast in a straight line. In a tier 3, and lesser degree, tier 4 match, I'll be pretty aggressive in it. Active scouting, circling enemy tanks. (Well I guess strafing is more accurate, as I try not to turn unless needed due to speed bleed.) In tier 5, the APCR can't hurt heavies from point blank unless I get very accurate weakpoint shots. So Instead I'll passive scout. My current loadout, given this: Camo net Coated Optics Binos I know coated and binos don't stack. I use optics to active scout, but the range isn't long enough in tier 5 to do this safely, hence the binos. I'll sometimes drop binos for vents. Suggestions? I'm leaning towards keeping camo net, because IMO the stupidly high camo on this thing is one of its selling points. (I use a T71 crew with 6th sense, snapshot/smooth ride, and camo.)
  12. I'm looking for some pointers on scouting. I love playing my M24 Chaffee or T71, but there are a few maps where I simply flounder due to having abso-fucking-lutely no idea how to scout the map properly. One of my best examples would be Serene Coast. It doesn't matter which spawn I get, I have no idea what to do at the onset of the match. Could anyone walk me through some good locations for both active and passive scouting?
  13. I have two lights in my garage that I barely ever play, the VK2801 and the 59-16. I have had both for months and months, almost never playing them, pretty much since the vision/camo changes. Because of the IS-6 thing going on at the moment, I decided to run them cause I was getting tired of the completely oblivious players playing tier 6. But like every time before, I regret it after a few battles because I am instantly reminded of how imbalanced they are (as in underpowered). The tier 8 lights seem ok, they have the HP to take a hit and survive, and they have the punch to deter someone from engaging them. tier 6s however, partially the 7s as well, lack that, and are not far from dead weight on a tier 8/9 team. Firstly, part of the problem is the TDs, they have so much camo now that they can spot a light tank before being spotted themselves, and with a bush/camo net, they can even shoot the light after spotting it, without being revealed themselves. Secondly, the mediums in the tiers you fight in do an equal or better job in most cases, most of them have the same or better viewrange, and are not as easily bullied as the T6 lights are Lastly, another problem is that the matchmaker does not balance the lights, There is no difference between the tier 8 and tier 6 lights beyond a tiny amount of weight, but the tier 8s make the tier 6 on the other side completely unable to scout in the same area, whatever the difference in weight is won back by the other team having a light tank with nowhere to go. Ironically, because of the lower tiers the tier 5 lights see, the problem is nowhere near as big. And they generally have much better gun selections, I would love to have the chaffees gun on my 59-16 I think it's time for a re-balancing of light tanks, especially tier 6.
  14. Basically, out of all the tanks in the game, I can't think of any being as dependent on the first skill as light tanks. Without sixth sense on the commander and camo on everything else, it's hard to avoid getting outspotted on a lot of maps against higher tiers, except for those with great bushes. Doubly so after the 8.6 camo nerfs, which disfavor high-camo tanks (scouts) and favor high-viewrange tanks (higher tiers). This is an especially big issue for those who suck at light tanks (like me) and need every advantage they can get. The question is - where do you get this crew? Is there a preferred tank that you guys like to train your first skill on? Do you retrain a heavy/medium/TD into a light? Do you retrain a seal clubbing light? Do you just do your best to make the scout work without a proper crew? Or do you do something else?
  15. The WZ-131 (and the 59-16 before it, grinded them when we had the community-choosen event on the EU server) is my first serious attempt to re-learn vision control and scouting since i started playing again this year. While my understanding of the ingame mechanics has improved a lot, i still feel like i'm very useless on many maps and in a lot of situations, and therefore are unable to even attempt to carry the game - i simply do not have a idea what i could do to improve our odds of winning. While for example malinovka is very easy to carry (this map is propably the only reason for my 55%WR @200 games), i'm absolutly lost on maps like Abbey, generally town maps and the new maps (Sacred Valley/ Severogorsk). Sometimes i can still deal a lot of damage even on those maps, but thats usualy in games that we would have won even without me. To give you some idea of how i play, i uploaded my 10 latest WZ-131 games+ "commentary" on what i think i did good or wrong. It would be very nice if some of you could watch one or multiple replays and give me some feedback, to be more specific: i) general map tactics - bushes and firinglanes i obviously didn't use, bad positioning etc etc ii) more general things like situational awareness and tactical thinking, especially where its lacking iii) really anything that comes in your mind to improve my gameplay (Warning: I have currently neither sixth sense (5% missing, rest of the crew is 95% camo) nor premium, so all XP values are raw) Equipment is rammer, camo net and optics. Replay 1) Cliff, Victory, 900XP, Survived One of those games where i didn't do particulary good or anything special - we would have won without me, and i don't think i could have done anything if they had overrun either flank. Cliff is one of those maps where i don't really know how to be helpfull - in the middle area i get turned into scrap very fast, both flanks are slugfests for heavys and TDs and the lighthouse is not very usefull in my opinion. I never felt like i had any great influence on a battle on this map in a light tank. Replay 2) Ruinberg, Loss, 450XP, Dead Another map where i don't really have a clue what to do. Since my chances in the city are really low, i went to the little village and tried to spot some people and get a few shots off. Works out fine until i yolo straigth in front of a SU152 and get a away very close. After my retreat i get cornered by a T71 and can't do much until i get killed and we loose. Even if the SU would not have been there, i doubt i could have had much influence on the city anymore... (Notice how much damage my team did in the afterbattle report, lol) Replay 3) Lakeville, Loss, 250XP, Dead Yet again: Apart from the initial spots on the people going town, i have no clue how a scout can be any helpfull on this map. Since i ALLWAYS (can't remember a single time it was not so) get spotted after spotting 1 or 2 of their people i immedietly pull back but still get damaged. Then i tried to make their T21 shoot me to scout him (he is a blue player) which works like a charm - but no one shoots him, so it was all useless again >___> I try to help some in city, but they get wrecked just when i arrive. Decided to take the bush outside the city to maybe spot someone for our TDs in the middle - nope. While our team in their base gets wrecked, i decide to push with the TDs - all their people left the town to defend the base and there was not much to be done. Since i couldn't help there at all i pulled back to look out for enemys and got killed by their T71 in our base... i have really no clue what i could have done, from the beginning on. Replay 4) Ensk, Win, 700XP, Survived Yes i had a very long streak of maps i don't like to play in lights, and this is another of them: Apart from some very carefull supportfire at the east side, i have *again* no clue how to be effective. Luckily both our flanks stomp the enemys very fast, there was not much to be done. Replay 5) Fishermans Bay, Win, 900XP, Survived At last a map that doesn't leave me totaly clueless... I get some initial spots and flex around in the middle for a few minutes, getting some (unimportant?) sideshots in until i decide its safe to go for arty. After i killed the arty, its nothing more than cleaning up. (Notice that apart from their green Platoons the complete enemy team was red/orange) Replay 6) Murovanka, Win, 800XP, Survived On this map in a scout on south team i would almost allways slow-mo-active-scout the forest (works like a charm, thank you camo crew <3) and from the north try to get into the little sink at the 1 line. If the enemy has no fast mediums or high-view-range tanks, i would try to knock over the tree and spot way more effective. Doesn't work out in this game, so i just poke out and accumulate some very little spotting damage. Luckily our team cleans up very fast and there was not much to be done again... Didn't feel very usefull though Replay 7) Sacred Valley, Loss, 400XP, Dead lol, no clue what to do on this map as a scout. Somtimes i manage to passivescout for minimal damage, but this time i went full balls and did some damage at the temple. Decided badly to rush the IS3 and got consequently killed. Team did very little damage though, don't know what i could have done... Replay Redshire, Win, 800XP, Dead I know this map is really great for vision-tanks, but i allways loose the vision game on redshire Got some lucky spots for some spotting damage and got killed because i tunnel visioned on the ISU. I don't really know how to spot enemys on this map in a spot where your allies can shoot them without suffering enourmous return fire... Replay 9) Sand River, Loss, 400XP, Survived Yaaa this map... i can active scout enemys for hours without any support fire to actually DAMAGE them After some useless spotting i decided to shoot the southern part of the map from the ridge, overextend twice and take a lot of damage. Then try to defend our base with my platoonmate but can't do much and run away as last player till we loose Replay 10) Here i wanted to insert some replay of me terribly failing on abbey (left path? all heavy and mediums, getting crushed. Middle? lots of Mediums and lights, get crushed. Right flank? i decided to spot some guys there and maybe flank over the little island later - get some spotting damage and then reverse to much fall into the water lol) Instead, have one replay of me actually playing good (for my standarts atleast). Its from yesterday, while the others are all from today and played in a row. Malinovka, Win, 1150XP, Survived (Scout+Patrol Duty) I hope some of you find some time to give me some helpfull tips and hints Thanks in advance!
