  1. ...what am I about to get myself into? I've gotten a bit bored with the the ISU-152. Ok, more like frustrated. I don't play the ISU lately as much as I did when I first got it, and maybe because I'm not taking advantage of the TD meta. And I know there's nothing new with how derpy and inconsistent the 152mm BL-10 gun can be in the ISU. I've always preferred medium tanks (and fast HTs like the T-10 and WZ-111 1-4), and I've considered trying out the alt Soviet TD line for awhile. From what I can tell, the SU-100M1 seems to be kind of opposite to the SU-152 (which I enjoyed) in terms of firepower. I played the SU-152 with the 152mm derp (for lols) and the 122mm (for WN8), whereas the SU-100M1 seems to have a medium tank gun instead. But it seems reasonably mobile here's hoping I can make that laid-back profile work.
  2. I love my Firefly, it's a punchy tier 6 MT with the great 17-pdr gun which makes up for the lack of armor (understandable since its a Sherman platform), but while it isn't the fastest it is still mobile. i thought i'd bite the bullet and move up to the Challenger, the tier 7 TD. and it's just as bad as i've heard. before the introduction of the new British TD line, the T25/2 was the only tank destroyer at tier 7 with a turret. and i've heard complaints that people have with the T25/2 in regards to the mobility and firepower. i didn't have much of a problem with the T25/2, it was fairly mobile, the 90mm gun while compared to the 105mm the T25 AT could mount didn't have as much alpha damage compared to any of the other tier 7 TDs, it did the job. all i can say is that the Challenger makes the T25/2 look good. and i will be comparing these two TDs as they are the most similar let's start with the platform: it's fast (52 kph), being based off a Cromwell chassis, but turns poorly. this makes it not ideal at close range and is almost as helpless as a turretless tank destroyer when it gets circled. but this is a similar case with the T25/2 (which is faster at 56 kph). but the turret traverse on the Challenger is reminiscent of a battleship, making the Challenger more vulnerable at close range than the T25/2 (16 d/s vs 18 d/s) another issue with the Challenger is the complete lack of armor anywhere, not helped by the tall height and large size of the turret. the number of times a moving IS w/ the 122mm gun could snapshot the turret of a hulldown Challenger is enough to demonstrate. the T25/2 had at least a gun mantlet and wasn't as tall a target and could actually hulldown effectively as was the flavor of the US tank line. now to the firepower. with the 17-pdr AT gun it has some of the worst DPS of any of the tier 7 TDs (150), with only the E-25 being lower (135) but that's not an issue because its the E-25. the T25/2 with the 90mm gun does 240 average with its 90mm AP. the penetration with the 17-pdr AT AP shell at 171mm is better than the 90mm....by 1mm. with the APCR that bumps up to 239mm for the 17-pdr, but the 90mm gets a better 258mm pen. both TDs do struggle with tier 8-9 HTs and heavily armored TDs, but the Challenger will have a tougher time doing any appreciable damage, let alone do enough damage. the advertised DPM of the Challenger is 2194 compared to the 1869 of the T25/2, but that's if you can even get the Challenger to plink away undisturbed at a leisurely rate, not getting shot at in return. which is something that rarely happens in the Challenger since it has atrociously poor camo rating and struggles to find anywhere it can hide in aside from the thickest foliage cover, which is sometimes not enough to hide this thing (it's like that tall kid in class who sticks out in a group) i am starting to come to grips with the Challenger and its many limitations and what few advantages it had. doesn't mean i enjoy it http://wotreplays.com/site/2107304#stalingrad-thomchen114-challenger the above was one of my better performance in the Challenger (thus the Ace) i can only hope the Charioteer is worth the grind after the Challenger
  3. What would you consider the best tier 8 premium to be (probably apart from E25) ... ? Say the criteria is being competitive and having fun etc.
  4. I'd just unlocked and bought the T71 (t'is on discount in SEA server) so what should i be expecting/look forward to? i've gotten pretty much gone through or am still at most of the other nation's tier 7 LTs [ AMX 13 75 LTTB M41 Bulldog SPIC WZ-131] so i'd like to think I know what i'm doing with light tanks so far. i've got a rough idea of what to expect, that it being similar to the AMX 13 75, but I'd just like to hear from others on their opinion/experience with this tank
  5. Hi, So: This was published on RSR today. http://ritastatusreport.blogspot.nl/2015/06/introducing-yugoslav-t-54-so-18-mod-tank.html#gpluscomments I was wondering what stats it would have to have to make you think it was a balanced tier 7 premium? My guesses are as follows (lets not get too far into dispersions and the super soft stats, that will be too much for little old 54%er me, Tier 7 Yugo MT Hitpoints: 1150 Engine: 580 hp Weight: 34.2 ton Power-to-weight: 16.95hp/t Maximum speed: 50/20 km/h Hull traverse: 50 deg/s Terrain resistance: 1.0/1.2/2.3 Turret traverse: 32 deg/s Viewrange: 390 Radio range: 620 Hull armor: 100/80/45 Turret armor: 25.4/12.7/19.1 Gun: 76mm Gun M1A2 Mod. 74 AP/HEAT/HE Damage: 115/115/185 Penetration: 149/260/38 ROF: 18.18 DPM: 2090.7 Reload: 3.30s Accuracy: 0.4 Aimtime: 2.1s Depression: -10 Elevation +20 How would you change they stats? Is it currently UP or OP? Would you buy such a tank? Please leave feedback on the stats (which are pretty much taken from the Type 64 and T-55A) and let me know whether would would buy such a thing if it was balanced well in the comments. *I realize that this is not technically an upcoming change, but it would be very nice if it was. Thanks Stridsvagn 74
  6. Given that only two threads exist on this shy little t7 Russian TD and both are older than my grandparents' furniture, I have decided to open a more positively-minded drivers' thread for this little gem. Not played often and overshadowed by monsters like the SU-122-44 in combination with the fact that TDs up to t8 suffer from bad health values, this tank is far from being en vogue. To kick things off, its statistics sheet with a 100% crew (no skills) and my equipment setup: HP Pool: 830. RIP. Armor: Non-existant outside of the gun mantlet. Sidescraping is not recommended unless it is your last option. Hull down also doesn't work well except against some t6 tanks. It's a really bad platform and having a rear-mounted gun, the engine in the front and no gun depression doesn't help either. Gun: 3k effective DPM, 5s reload, 0.33 accuracy, 1.7s aim time, good shell velocity and ok-ish dispersion values make for a tank that kills enemies at range very very quickly and reliably. Not as brutal as the SU-122-44 but still effective. The APCR has 235mm pen which is pleasant but rarely needed. Overall very decent and it snapshots like a boss - most one- or twoshots you can yolo around a corner by auto-aiming and clicking faster than the enemy. Mobility: Good - difficult to circle for lights and meds and lets you relocate quickly. Camo: Excellent ~20% base camo value (stationary), i.e. 3rd best in tier and surpassed only by the SU-122-44 and E 25. The view range is lackluster Playstyle: It's a pure DPM platform - snipeysnipe, flank, snipeysnipe, yolo-rush low-health prey. Not difficult and surprisingly effective because of the good DPM and the fact that even at long range, the gun is very reliable. Loadout/Crew: (My setup) Rammer, Vents & Binocs for max DPM & ability to play vision games. Staying at range when possible is vital. GLD would be a total waste and coated optics are not viable with 360m base view range. Four crew members for whom 6th & camo are crucial imo. I had the pleasure of using my old IS-4 crew (3 skills) and thus also used BiA, clutch & repairs for increased yolo-survivability. Dead-eye or snap shot, safe stowage, offroad & repairs would be in the 4th skill set. Results: 63% winrate, 1.7k dpg, 1.8 frags per game after 71 battles yield about 3.3k wn8. Padding potential confirmed... Replay: As I lost my ace bade, here my last battle in the tank - being top tier and surrounded by tomatoes, I decide to go for the upper flank. The engagement with the Tiger shows the ridiculous dpm of the tank, a worthwhile trade. Granted, I was top tier in a very good setup and an SU-122-44 would have done the same just better but nonetheless, it's a solid TD. http://wotreplays.eu/site/1653017#hidden_village-jokobet-su-100m1 Verdict: I thoroughly enjoyed playing this tank. It may be overshadowed by the SU-122-44 but it is fun and was a very nice surprise to me.
  7. Hey, guise! First of all, I'm looking for people to play with. I can play any tier 5+, if you wanna play tier 9/10 then I'll just play my Bulldog. I can adapt my play style. My main objective has always been to win, I won't keep farming damage if I'll see a lost flank. If there's anyone who feels like analyzing gameplay/tactics/mistakes then that's the mentoring part I can be happy with. Really motivated to learn and do better, so we can even set mutual goals if you want. I'll be on wotlabs in-game channel from now on as well. Let me know if you're up for it, send me a message, cya! Oh and happy St. Patricks day!
