ELC is also getting an armor buff. Gonna be even more OP lol

That buff even may be quite significant. It has greatly increased the caliber size that is needed to penetrate certain parts by overmatch, which are at autobounce angles otherwise.

 

Most enemies still will have sufficient penetration to overmatch pretty much anywhere, but especially low tier mediums and lights may get quite a bit of extra ricochets on the ELC. Think of a PzIV with 5cm or 7.5cm gun.

 

The UFP overmatch caliber got raised from 43mm to 76mm. While quite some guns in the game have exactly those 76mm, there is also a bunch of 47mm, 50mm and 75mm ones.

Liked the old shape better, it made it have two little eyes with the french army emblem :

 

Tried it on new motions physics test btw, it's kinda crazy what this thing can do now, i consider it a major buff to the vehicle. Now you can do

1) frontal rush shoot and then

2) pass side to the target, hand break and shoot him in the ass, then GTFO =)

 

Oh and passability is just OP, can get on the hill behind the water south-weast of malinovka (K1) =D

I was JUST messing around with this on the test server.  I was in a circle fight with a guy, whipped a hand brake turn on him and BOOM.

 

This new physics system is a HUGE buff for the ELC.

I just recently decided to give this tank another go as part of my NA reroll and have been having fun it. Have had some fun games and many more shit games but hey I am learning. I hated the tank the first time through. Anyway I read EchelonIII's great article on the tank and am wondering if crew and equipment priorities are still the same. below is the quote from the article.

 

Sixth Sense, Camo, and Repair on the Commander, with Camo, Off Road Driving, and Repair on the Driver.
 
Sixth sense, camouflage, and repair are musts, needless to say. Offroading is important because being able to accelerate to put distance between yourself and the enemy matters more than being able to out-turn them in close combat; it also helps you accelerate away from enemy mediums much faster and escape from enemy scouts.
 
The equipment, likewise, is a clear-cut choice, Binocs, Gunlayer, and Rammer.

After coming back to the elc again I have to say. I still think it is shit. Ok I get it, it has some redeeming qualities (mainly how zippy it is)  but I can't stand tanks with such bad gun handling that is combined with such bad dpm. Add to that the quirky td style aiming and no turret. Quite frankly give me the t67 any day.

Just rebought it as well, having done badly in it. Is the best equipment still Binocs, Rammer and Gunlaying Drive?

Personally, I drop the rammer for vents.

This tank needs the extra bonus to vision and gun handling.

I also use food and have BiA. (If you don't have food and BiA, I'd probably stick with the rammer).

I run Rammer, GLD and Vents. The lack of view range sucks sometimes, but having the cannon shoot as fast and accurately as possible is what makes this tank fun for me.

This tank was uninspiring with an 80% primary qualification crew, even if the stock grind ended with 54% WR.

 

What is the minimum crew to put in this tank to have fun in it without the need for crew grinding?  Is just 100% primary plus 6th sense enough?

 

I don't play much tier 6, but wouldn't mind having a fun tank for the slot on the rare occasion when someone asks.

Yeah just 6th sense and a bit of camo, then just peak boom over hills when they are distracted or go passive-aggressive like in the video linked above mate. Is all about abusing your camo rating / manuverability.

Even without 6th sense it's playable... a bit more carefully but playable. I started a 100% crew on this and went full camo first (later retrained for 6th) and most of the time it was fine... especially the drive by shootings... once you are not passive scouting... you just assume you are lit all the time and dodge from cover to cover to get in and unload...

I came back to this tank while trying to do one of the light tank missions... something about "be a platoon of light tanks, spot x amount of damage, at least one duder must survive".  Had been trying to get the mission in my T-54 ltwt and just having the worst fucking luck with maps.

 

So me and my roommate loaded up ELC's, got fucking Redshire north spawn, sat in D7 for 4 minutes and got about double the spotting damage I needed from early arty shots on their top tier heavies.  Had a WZ-131 and an E8 both come to just outside of proximity range to me, wasn't spotted.

 

I forgot how fucking hilarious this tank is

Yes I have since removed the minimap mod :P Was shot prior to WoTAsia announcing it as illegal.
