And in fairness, if WG says they don't want soft stats added, what they mean is that they won't add it themselves. If you start quoting numbers in the performance section writeups (which is where numbers are quoted) and it's technically accurate (because putting up wrong data is just, well, wrong), and maybe do me the favor of linking the source of your hidden stats in the links section so I can verify it's a normal source for such things and so all the numbers are accessible to the reader if you only post a selection of them, then I should point out that performance doesn't get patrolled as closely or carefully as the rest of the page sections. It's the most subjective and least stylistically controlled portion of a page. In my case at least, if I don't see anything obviously and heinously wrong, then I'll leave it to other users to edit the performance section because I'm patrolling pros/cons, history, galleries, top of page summaries, and links (which actually do have standards and should be held to such). Performance is the place most truly by players for players.

If you get what 'm trying to say.

Actually, what are all the sites used to find/quote hidden stats, and which stat(s) are quoted from which sources?

Because it couldn't hurt to add a page for additional sources of tank statistics, if nothing else.

I strikes me that anyone wanting to create a competing wiki would do well to start off writing something to scrape tank data from the game files, similarly to what Tank Inspector does.

Everything comes from vehicle XMLs and compiled Python files. I still do everything manually because I'm bad@coding.

I meant, when people go around quoting soft stats, because I'm assuming people post this stuff somewhere.

I'm not aware of an online database that contains soft stats, but all of them are obtained from WoT game files. Tank Inspector is probably the most used tool for grabbing them. If a source is what you're looking for, it's on your HDD.

Soft stats are made easily available by WG, I don't see why they would be against adding them.

Doing a trial run of the aforementioned video commentary in articles courtesy of RBS.

If you want to help with this, go to the RBS section, find the video url, and use this tag for embedding

OOPMan already mentioned Tank Inspector, which is a program and not a site, but it's my preferred source. wot-news.com is another, gamemodels3d.com has it, and I think there's another big one I'm forgetting.

We had that long ago, but then the guy who coded it left (long story) and no one else knows how to do it. The widgets we have now scrape the data (or are otherwise updated), but they have pretty strict limitations in what they can display.

Hey Shinma, hold up for a bit please, we'd like you to put your links into another part of article pages (and not embedded). Gimme a sec to edit the ones you've done pls.

I saw your maus revision, it's kind of a waste of time sticking it in the sources tab, since no one looks there in the first place. What about sticking it under it's own section. (above the historical info, but in one of those click to show sections) Otherwise it's serving no real function.

I agree that sources probably won't get looked at at all.  My thoughts are putting it in a new section in player opinion, or putting it in an existing section.  Maybe we could add a "guides" subsection, but I'm not sure if RU will allow that...

Something I feel like WG spergs harder than I do.

I've never actually had access to all the links before, thank you very much.

My preferred solution would be to hide it and any other non-wiki guides we find in a collapsible section at the bottom of player opinion. That way it's somewhere more obvious but it's also not taking up tons of space on the page.

I was intending to do something like that, but as Force might have pieced together, I did most of them when I was very tired and trying to find mind-numbing tasks to put me to sleep.

Yeah, to do that we're going to have to mess with the TankData template a bit, so it'll be a little while before we'll be ready to accept the new format for launch.

I should point out I agree with Misfire on the plan, just giving a heads-up that it's going to take a bit to execute.
