I don't really have an educated opinion tbh.  I've never paid much attention past the top 2-3 clams.  Even then, you have to realize -- peak A team skill is almost never the key to which clam wins a war, despite the amount of epeening it generates.  Activity, ability to throw many stacks consistently night after night, maturity in a loss, politics, and so on are all more important than average wn8.

Yeah I realize that, I was just wondering what you and I guess other people use.

I normally never check, but since it came up in the thread I checked a few places to see, and figured I'd ask.

 

I've definitely been on the positive and negative side of what you talk about is important with the most recent clans I've been in.

That kind of gets at the core of the question.  In the early years of WoT, clan wars was really the only outlet for skilled, competitive play.  So it was pretty easy to tell who was the best - the clan that could win wars and hold the best land and gold pots on the global map.  Things have changed quite a bit now - there's many more opportunities for competitive play through strongholds, clan tournaments, skirmishes, WGLNA, etc.  In those modes the best team is the one that wins the most battles.  So picking a top clan will depend on what you see as "more skilled."  Thus we end up with confusion like this last "server war" - is OTTER still best because they "won" the war despite losing 11 out of 13 games against BULBA?  Is BULBA better because when the chips were down they won far more battles?

 

BULBA will never be the best at winning wars.  Fighting forever wars is pretty dumb - it just burns people out on the game and there's really no incentive to do it.  It's much more enjoyable to just show up once in a while, beat the hell out of various clans on the battlefield, and then go back to farming gold on the global map or in skirmishes.  All the fun of clan wars without the burnout.

Fighting forever wars is why some of us are here.  And that's the kind of recruits I want, not the people who see clam wars as a nuisance before they can get back to stat padding.  Otherwise, I agree.

I just get creative.  Pretty frequently I am WOTlabs banned, official forums banned, in game chatbanned, and G TS chatbanned all at the same time.  When I am, I usually just ping the minimap in morse code.

I never platooned much, apart from early stages in my tanks career when I was too shit to win by myself so I had other people carry me. I've always enjoyed just playing solo with music on, so usually when people ask to platoon I prefer a chat only toon. My microphone and accent tends to result in misunderstandings too...

 

 

Edit: Not to mention, my ping also causes issues with some players... I've been kicked from platoons before when they found out my ping lol.

So I'm doing some long range wedge planning.  My goal is to have all the best wedges with 3 MOE augmented by a few other tanks I enjoy.  For OCD and crew reasons, this is a set number of tanks with fixed nationalities.  Here is my wedge status atm:

 

 

I'm also getting close to a T-55A and another girl crew.  The T-55A will replace the AMX 30p once I finish grinding it.  The girl crew I have a few potential ideas.  First, I could buy another chinese female crew and buy back my WZ-120, just for more wedge flavor.  Second, I could get a chinese heavy crew so my 112 can be used again (currently it has no crew that can use it).  I could even pass off the 112 as a wedge, perhaps even add in a WZ-111.  I could also use it as a french crew, just because I don't have a good one other than my bat.

 

So what other tanks, especially wedges, should I consider?  And which should I get?  111/112 or 120?

111 still have a relatively high DPG requirements for 3 marks. That said, 1 crew for the 112 and could be played in the 111/111-4 just as easily. 

 

Surprised you sold (kinda) the 120. Figured a tier 9 wedge would forever stay in your garage.

I did like it, but I only have two chinese crews.  When I got back the T-34-1 the 120 had to go.  Same with the WZ-131.  When I bought it back, the 112/110 got sold.  That's why I want a 3rd chinese crew.  I like chinese tanks.  (This rarely applies to soviet since I have no kidding like 15 3+ skill russian crews).

Before buying the 120 back remember that the gun handling and depression are horrendous and the armor really isn't good.  It's way more annoying to play than soviet style wedges.  But......for some reason I still like having it around - I guess the alpha and HEAT pen are enough to make it interesting.

 

112 is still quite a bit of fun and a solid performer.  Dropping a girl crew in the one one one one one one one one one four and being able to run it on the 112 seems like a solid choice to me.  I suppose you could also do the 110, but I personally don't like non-pref 8s.
