Setup:

Batch 1 (In the order in Which I played them):

#5 - (Loss)(43%)Prokorovka, S spawn: Spotting and roughly equal trading.  When team started to fall, we slow to reinforce, important teammate died fighting a bat chat alone.

#4 - (Loss)(54%) Northwest, SW spawn: Rushed north, but aborted upong seeing level of support.  Plan B was a location that I was perma spotted and couldn't fight from.  Tried reverse sidescraping, and there probably isn't any angle that would have worked.  Should not ahve been there.  Should have tried to run and relocated.

#3 - (Loss)(55%) Hidden Village, SE spawn: Probably should not have gone North with only a single tier 9 medium.  When I saw a big heavy coming, should have escaped while I could.  Was unaware of surroundings, and was in the open too often.

#2 - (Win)(50%)Karelia: had trouble with an E-50M, and the ACPR ammo when above him.  probably should have started shooting upper plate.  The rest of the match was a shooting galery with few risks.  Resulted in a low-skill required high caliber (5000 damage).

#1 - (Win)(57%) Prokorovka clone, N spawn: early spotting and sniping, then some team communication.  asked if a groups was ready for me to lead a push, and they all agreed.  Turned game into a route.  Got greedy on cleanup, but survived anyays.

I did 2,4k avg. damage and 52% wr solo in the T-62A over 1000 games. I think those results should be attainable for you. :)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I would be a little disappointed with that WR.  I did 57% in my first 200 T-54 games, though about a quarter of those were platooned.

Not sure how hard 2400 will be, but I did 2600 in the first 5 games.  Granted, two of the games were a bit crazy.  But might that be setting the bar a bit low?  I want it to be hard to achieve.

I did several things wrong in that solochallenge:

  1. I played 20 games a day no matter what until almost the end. If a session started bad I would often dig that whole ever deeper by the end of it.
  2. 1000 games solopub in tier 10 is heartbreaking and too much.
  3. I did it over a time span that included 1 month absence from playing the game.
  4. It was in the thick of the TD big alpha meta.

Tier 9 is much more easy to carry than tier 10. But good luck anyways, I think the goals I posted are realistic. :)

ruski super unis do 4k+

set it at 2600 which are my current stats in it (yay 1s tierX...)

For now, I'll set it at 2500, half way between you and _pip_

(sigh)

yeah, that doesn't surprise me.  one of the reasons I am doing this is because I know I don't understand tier 10.

T-54 in a 9 is a pretty crazy tank.  in retrospect, it doesn't surprise me that the same doesn't apply at tier 10 and the obj 140.

Got mine last week and doing ~3.3k so far.  Enjoy it, its a lot of fun!

Feels like a turbocharged T-54 that makes money instead of losing it. : )

I'm enjoying it already, and after the challenge is over, I'm looking forward to having a 10 to platoon with.

I recommend less HEAT

luciqueii loads 5-10

I load 8

you really don't need heat that much, but you will run out of ammo quickly.

apcr is superior because

+fastest apcr round in game

+Russian physics means with such high speeds you'll go through a tank and ammo rack tanks behind it.

Noted.  Will run less HEAT.

Speaking of running out of ammo.  that almost never happens to me.

Survival is my nemesis stat.

What's a good survival goal?  I'm only 30% over the last 1000 games.

Replay of game #3

Game 3, a good player would have won.  I wasted time at the beginning, and would love some feedback about where to go when.  I was also a little over my head when battling the E-100.

This probably should have been an 80% WR session...

---

Batch 2:

In the order in which I played them:
#5 - (Win)(38%) Malinovka, SE spawn: Poor team (38% chance) lets a SE push anihilate 5 tanks before they can do any damage, but the team rallies, and we pull it even.  after winning the hill convincingly, we return to base in time to pick up the pieces from the last remaining defenders.  with 3 vs 2 situation, I charge the one knon tank, take it out, and rush for cover, but the tricky last player is in an unexpected location and kills two of our tanks.  Should have rushed to better cover imediately, but was afraid of letting my target reload and stoped in partial cover to secure kill.  I got a high caliber (6500 damage), first ever Maus kill, and WTF vs WTF turns in our favor.

#4 - (Win)(59%) Karelia: Their team is BAD, and I play too cautious in the clean up stage (which started less than 3 min into the match) to get more than 2300 damage.  Game over in 5 minutes.  One interesting note: I have shots on unimportant targets, which I merilly take while an E-100 has a few of out tanks locked down.  They had to ping my location to ask for help collapsing the flank, because I didn't notice he was in the open from my position.

#3 - (Loss)(41%) Fisherman's Bay, N spawn: A tough battle against VILINs and PETCOs.  We clawed our way back into the match as they pressed their advantage, briefly equal on tanks and ahead on HP.  A tried to take out a full health E-100 with a T34, and much of my play was careful and effective, but when it was a one shot, I mistimed our reloads, and lost the match for us.  I could have just been patient, since we had him flanked.  After that, our team fell apart.

#2 - (Loss)(60%) Arctic Region, NE Spawn: I played poorly, but so did much of the rest of my team.  I traded badly, learned that I need to learn M103 weakspots, and when I got tracked, I paniced and didn't use my repair kit.

#1 - (Loss)(48%) Ruinburg clone, N spawn: Very bad play.  Rushed to a location where escape was dangerous, took apart a T54E1, but rushed in front of a lot of scary guns to get the kill shot and died with only 1400 damage.  Time to admit, I don't really know how to work the field.

CRASH AND BURN

(sigh)

Little bit of bad play + little bit of experimentation + little bit of unfamiliarity with tier 10 = 0% WR

---

Batch 3:

In the order in which I played them:
#5 - (Loss)(52%) Red Oaks, SW spawn: I wait a moment to check tank distributions, and go bridge route that has only two other mediums to support it.  They have big guns defending area, and poking for spots is dangerous, so I don't and then suddenly there are big tanks right on our position.  Flank collapses with insufficient benefit.  If I had poked and noticed the 50B coming, we might have been ready for them.

#4 - (Loss)(39%) Westfield, South spawn: I get some early spots, then fail to use the hill effectively.  Almost no one on their team pushes, so they remain safe.  I relocate to lower end of city, and get chewed up by superior force.  I escape, but to what end?  The other team is closing the noose.  I know I played poorly, but not where I should have been.  Will look up some Westfield games.

#3 - (Loss)(39%) Himmelsdorf, S spawn: Our opponents put up no hill resistance, but remarkably solid resistance to the flank.  We derp right into it and collapse.  Personally, I think I have found a bad tank to solo, drive poorly, and get derped by a nearby 183.  Should have stayed with the group.

#2 - (Loss)(43%) Mines, NW Spawn: I suggest to the team that we can't take hill, and other meds agree.  we move to hill shots, and someone tracks the lead medium, cloggin up their ally, and our lone scout takes the hill with ease.  with them unwiling to try again, I relocate to island, but they don't push it.  I notice the hill area falling and move back to get flanking shots through the notch, but am completely exposed and three tanks take me out.  Probably should have held center, as them collapsing precipitated our loss.

#1 - (Loss)(51%) Murovanka, NE spawn: The strongest player on our team announces that he is charging to H9 corner.  I decide to join him, but am unfamiliar with the ground.  First problem is delaying initial approach due to misunderstanding of hill they are using for cover.  But once I arrive, I cannot fight effectively there.  between a T57 at the coast, and a 183 behind a building, there doesn't seem to be anywhere to fight, and I get chewed up.  That was good enough for third place on my team.  Not sure if the strategy is bad or not.

Time to enter "learner" mode.  I need to just follow strong players and watch where they go, because I clearly can't be trusted to lead us anywhere.

---

Batch 4:

In the order in which I played them:
#5 - (Loss)(39%) Tundra: I rush donut and get there undetected.  between choosing to spot or ambush, I choose to ambush, and give an E-100 that doesn't know where I am there a very bad day.  Team collapases elsewhere.  Perhaps spotting would have been better.

#4 - (Win)(47%) Cliff: I scare away the only other tank on the donut, and am able to passively spot their entire set of camping TDs, which are all forced to get toren up, or retreat.  However, once the game is firmly under our control, I have trouble figuring out how to be effective.  I yolo with my team and get a bit of extra damage.

#3 - (Loss)(59%) El Halluf, SW spawn: I convince a 62a to go pool with me, and they suicide a few into us, but I get overwhelmed (mentally) by the flanking force.  I panic, and don't do much good.  We lose a REALLY close game.

#2 - (Loss)(44%) Sacred Valley, NE Spawn: Amazingly, I've played hundreds of games on the new patch without this dropping.  I go to my old spotting location, and get some spots and lights.  However, a few got past the bridge without my noticing it.  When one gets behind me and lights me, I melt having accomplished nothing.

#1 - (Win)(52%) Arctic Region, SW spawn: I'd like to go NW corner, afterall, I know it plays well with my tank, and only 3 guys are going there.  However, due to repeated bad play, I decide to follow the strong tier 10 medium player east, and we go lower path.  It goes ok until an IS-7 muscles his way past us, and there isn't room for three tanks there.  Enemy team collapses, and I get a bunch of low value damage.

Woot!  I finally got more than 2 wins in a batch!

---

Batch 5:

In the order in which I played them:

#5 - (Win)(57%) South Coast, S spawn: A solid start to the day.  I lit tanks, I hit tanks, I got them to turn their turrets to me while allies got into flanking positions.  In the end damage was low.  Nothing special, but solid play.  At my level of skill, if a strong E-100 player spends his time aiming at a rock that I am not going to poke from while my team advances, the time not firing doesn't feel wasted.

#4 - (Win)(56%) Siegfried Line, N spawn: After checking that the important lines in the city are all being handled, I move to the west side of city, and get to maul some tanks that are rushing the field.  I then poke ahead, and realize there is nothing stopping a center road ambush, so I get some cheap shots.  Lesson: that experimental location worked well, will try again.

#3 - (Loss)(49%) Cliff: Game slips away without getting to do much.  I rush to take donut, but can't leverage it.  Both sides and off the edge are bad places to fight. I need to figure out how to depress my gun off the edge without over-exposing.  Two other mediums joined me, and we languished until our team collapsed.

#2 - (Loss)(29%) Highway, SW Spawn: I was the 2nd best player on our team, and the other side had purples ad blues.  I exchanged hitpoints between "acceptable" and "well", until the flank collapsed.  Well, both flanks collapsed.  Game was likely unwinable.

#1 - (Win)(66%) Swamp, NE spawn: Get some good initital lights of important tanks, and an early WTF shot.  As my team advances, I jump to the front of the pack and help my guys finish off a lone tank.  Things are going great when I decide to aim a long shot, don't wait to restealth, and get artied to death.  This could have lost us the game, but we rode the existing advantage to victory.

I was a contributing factor to 2 losses and 1 win.  I like to think that this could have been an 80%er.  It was a 40%er because of ME.

---

Batch 6:

In the order in which I played them:
#5 - (Loss)(42%) El Halluf, NE spawn: Get to pool uncontested, get to top uncontested, derp at the top.  Aparently it is hard to kill arty on the high ground safely...should have let it go til top cleared.

#4 - (Win)(69%) Kharkov: Rush forard to support a green WN8 heavy who then sits back timidly doing nothing.  Ask him to push, and he doesn't.  So have to relocate having only done superficial damage to them.  By that point, we are already mopping up the singletons.

#3 - (Loss))(33%) Murovanka: 7 blues/purples vs 5 greens.  I experiment with supporting from the center, since the game looks hopeless, but it doesn't work out.

#2 - (Loss)(49%) Airfield, W Spawn: I only know of one good spot, and a Leopard beat me to it.  Rather than brawl with heavies, I worked the middle, and did ok, helping allies take out some big tanks.  When it was time to return, a blue tank asked me to follow him on an arty run.  This clearly seems to be a mistake, but he's blue, so I go.  There was no tie to kill arty THEN save our allies.  It was either one or the other.  In this case, the blue guy was wrong, and a possibly fun and close game was thrown away.

#1 - (Win)(48%) Erlenberg, S spawn: I spend early parts of battle on spotting and overwatch, but eventually start exposing myself to shoot when the battle slows down.  Close map awareness stops them from effectively flanking us, and I stay alive to put in plenty of clean up damage after we pick away at their front-liners.

Yeah. I think the winrate tends closer to average because of the unica platoons landing on your team and the other at random. Just keep plugging away! Small sample sizes suck and can dishearten you easily.

I'm not disheartened or frustrated.

But my eyes have been opened to how much harder tier 10 is than tier 9.

The T-54 is a pretty forgiving tank, and its easier to get out of whatever sticky situation you get yourself into.  At tier 10, you just die when you make mistakes.

I feel your feels. Beating down 7s is nothing in the 54. 100mm armor on the hull instead of 120mm makes beating down 8s riskier, even if you have impressive firepower. And 10s always means other tends, which means way more firepower is in play than in BT9, or even a lighter BT10.

After so many T-54 games, its a struggle to protect my HP.  I feel like I need to seek out and watch high level Obj 140 games for each specific map to figure out the starting locations that are easier to fight from.

But I am learning rapidly, and as long as I am getting better, it's ok if my stats take a temporary hit.

I was pretty close to your overall/recent WN8 when I unlocked the Obj140, and played my first 100 games solo.

FML. 1850~ish DPG 49% WR and I was happy enough to reach THAT. RU meds arent my strong point and Im probably too aggressive in them too.

Part of my problem is probably my reliance on the turret. Meanwhile, I know my BatChat isn't going to bounce jack squat shit so I dont even try to do anything unless I can get a stealth shot off or its late game and I have a lot of health remaining

Hmmmm.

It is possible that I am still driving it like a turbocharged T-54.

Taking a 1 day off of high level play.

I fell asleep in a chair an hour ago because today was quite full.

I won't be able to play well.

This seems ok, since I have doubled up two days already.

Question: I gave myself a 50 game out if the challenge went poorly.  Well it's going poorly.  Is it worth it to continue to 100, even if the first 50 closes out badly?

I don't want to just spin my wheels, but it seems like a valuable learning experience, even if painful...
