Zeven's Q&A with Ewe

Zeven, do you think that your aggressiveness will also work on the SEA server?

Certain fuckwit bluenicums who sniped their way to bluenicumity think that you're only purple because NA server is less campier/"easier".

Hey Zeven.  As I mentioned earlier, I've been kicking around the idea of our clans (that both emphasize getting better) hooking up some time.  Here's my thought:

We run a training room of 15 v 15 T10s.  We could do it as team and/or as a random battle (no voice coms).  You and another purple spectate and analyze the battle after, like a big live replay review.  Who went were, who had good/bad positioning, who really helped influence the battle, etc.  We've got some loot kicking around and could donate 1250 gold per game to the top player on each team (or something like that) as determined by you and the other purple.  I think it would be fun and educational.  If you're interested, PM me and we can set something up in the new year.

I had already answered this question to you in PM, but for posterity's sake...

Yes, this is something we are interested in.  I was thinking more of a strongholds 8's format for a myriad of reasons.  I would be willing to set up some prizes myself for both teams.  I do need a bit of time though and I was thinking sometime next month-ish (February), schedule willing.

Yes, I think my style of play would be fine on the SEA server.  Remember, it is not blind aggression that we emphasize as much as "take what the enemy gives you".

How many years did you have spend in school to get that degree?

Thanks for the answer Zeven.

I'm currently doing Biological Sciences, but it's more like Biomedical with a microbiological flavor. By sheer luck I'm doing a module on drug discovery.

Is there anymore about your education that you are willing to share? Did you take a degree in pharmacy(I assume)? Thanks!

Just to make it on topic, what's your crew skills for the russian hovercraft meds?

I’ve been playing WoT for years, but I have a horrendously low survival rate.  I’ve tried to change my habits, but I always seem to get too impatient or aggressive in the mid-game, losing myself in the immediate action or feeling obliged to ‘do it now’.  Do you have any tips for staying focused (or rather, un-hyperfocused?)  Maybe some neuropharmacology? ;)

I spent four years to get a BS in biology and another four years to get a PhD in pharmacology.

It depends on how many skills you have.  I am one of those people who believe in repairs over camo for most mediums.  For the gunner, I get snap shot, but that tends to be after repairs for the Russian mediums (because their dispersion is pretty manageable).  For the driver, I like the mobility skills (Clutch Braking and Off-Road Driving).  For the loader, absolutely make sure you get Safe Stowage.  If you have three skills across your crew, you should respec to Brothers in Arms.

Typically, it is better to be slightly more aggressive in the early game to challenge for strategically important areas on the map and then slightly more conservative when holding those areas.

If you find yourself becoming unfocused, I always recommend taking a short break.  Go, stretch your legs, get a drink, see what is on television.  Then come back and play again.

I can not recommend any drug therapies to enhance your video game experience... :P

Hi Zeven

Could you review my replay?

It is a win but I am not sure that I have done everything right. Should I have concentrated more on helping allies? I didn't help the Indien in town or my platoon mate when enemy pushed his spot.

Also I didn't really know how to find the last enemy tank. Was lucky in the end.

Hi Zeven.  I wanted to check in on your availability.  We're going to be busy as a clan next week (hint, WGing took an interest in us) but the last week looks like a good time for us to do something.

Also, at 10K games, I wanted to thank you again.  There's competing voices in there (I'm lucky to platoon now and again with several dark purples), but your advice still rings in my head.  Just yesterday, playing Steppes in my top-tier T-54.  Going 9-0 (because 1-2 is "almost always slow and useless") and watching my team ("Always get a sense of where your team disperses to") I can tell we're strong enough on this side despite only two other tanks coming (an E75 and a T34) and run into an isolated Obj-416.  "Bully him.  Just bully him".  He's got a T-34 and T-54 with him, but they're down in the valley, we're up top, and I know he's alone because I made a miniscout run along the ridge you like.  I bully him badly and kill him for one shot in return.  Clean up the guys below ("always take free damages").  "Be aggressive.  Lead your pubbies."  They have camped based with their TDs, our two heavies are reluctant to push.  But again, I have a lone target in a JP II as their two JT8.8s are busy sniping at 1-2.  He's got a good gun, but I can definitely charge and take him one v. one. I do.  I spend some HP to do it, but I get it done.  I mean, yeah, it's not "free damage", but it's the next best thing- easy damage.  I clean up the JT's and their 1-2 melts as my heavies now have the courage to push it.  Just a 1st class game, but it's real proof that your mantras are not only in my head, but that the are really valuable.  Keep up the great work!

Zeven can you take a look at this replay when you get the chance?

What should I have done? I tried to go back but there were too many tanks in between me and the cap.

Hey Zev,

How do you deal with the weak ammorack on the E5? I got the tank and really love it, but the ammorack has ruined my past three games. Yes, I have Safe-Stowage.

How do you recommend handling SPG's during the clean up phase of a battle?  Obviously flanking them is ideal, but if that's not an option, do you rush them, or bait them into a shot so you know they're reloading?  Thanks, and your teachings are greatly appreciated!

Just watching a recording of your first stream from EU server.

You have used 50% crews in T2 for the part I watched.

When playing those low tiers it is better to use the 100% crews from tier 1 or Tetrarch in the new tanks without retrain. With penalty you get 75% crew as long as you put them in the same vehicle  type.

Hello,

I've been watching the stream and videos on youtube and is really helpful to understand better the strategy and analyzing the situation.

But have this nagging question in my head every time I watch and would like to know what does the badges besides the player's names mean.

I mean, they are filled with numbers and colors, thanks for any tip on the meaning.

Thanks in advance,

Ok, first things first.  I apologize for not continuing on this thread.  Second, yes, it is dead and I will not be maintaining it.  I just have too many projects that I am juggling and have to have some priorities.

I do keep up with my social media pretty well though and I do try to get to every question there.  So if you want to get answers, tweet them at me or catch me during the Twitch stream!  Thanks!

I have not really noticed the ammo rack being a problem on the E5 (any more so than any other tank).  Sometimes you just get a run of bad luck.  At least now there are reusable consumables!  :)

Hey Zeven.  What is your favorite tier 8 premium tank right now?  What is your opinion of the IS-6?

My favorite premium 8 at that time was the AMX CDC (for normal MM) and the FCM 50t (for preferred MM).  The IS-6 is still pretty good, but it has been crept a bit so it is not quite as beasty as it was in yesteryears.

Always be moving laterally, never be driving directly towards/away from there.  Do not close the gap any more than you have to in order to be at a range where you can reliably shoot them with your own gun.

I like using tank cards because they are color coded and have some information regarding the tanks.  You can see a breakdown of that information here:  OaaRVlc.jpg
