INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Make a backup of your "res" and "res_mods" folder in "..\Games\World_of_Tanks\"
2. Delete the "res_mods" folder in "..\Games\World_of_Tanks\"
3. Copy the contents of the "Mod Files" folder into your BASE World of Tanks directory ( "..\Games\World_of_Tanks\" ) meaning both "res_mods" and "mods"
4. Merge & overwrite if/when prompted
5. Register at http://www.modxvm.com/en/ every 14 days

I have seen a sound mod in a few replays on youtube. Substitutes in a new engine sound, (turbo spooling, etc), and a few other noises. Any ideas on where to get it?

Uploaded a copy of Melty's sight mod. Apparently EU devs are worse than the NA ones, they deleted the OP because this mod "gives an unfair advantage" (reload times, etc)...

Melty's sight mod is definitely going to take a bit of getting used to. The amount of useful information in it is staggering, just a matter of getting a feel for it so I can get what I need at a glance. Much appreciated.

Please bear with me.
Ive been thinking about installing XVM, but frankly, am a bit intimidated by the process/knowing which "version" I should go with.

Speaking as someone who has fried 3 PC's in the past by "mucking" around with things I shouldnt have...I am a bit apprehensive. I start reading about "config files" or "lines of code", my eyes start to glaze over.

Step by step...paint by numbers is what I need.

Not looking for all the bells and whistles (I really dont like all the clutter of some Ive seen) but something that gives me an idea of who Im teamed up with and who Im up against to determine where I might be of better use. 

 

Recommendations would be much appreciated....TIA

To install XVM (and only XVM):

 

1. Install Dokan from http://dokan-dev.net/en/download/ (current version 0.6.0)
2. Download XVM from https://code.google.com/p/wot-xvm/downloads/list (3.5.0) and XVM-stat (1.4.2)

3. Unzip/extract the res-mods folder from XVM to your WoT game directory (usually C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\ ). Merge the two folders.

4. Unzip/extract the default configuration file (or find your own, from for instance) from the XVM 3.5.0 directory (xvm-3.5.0.zip\xvm-doc\samples\Full config EN\XVM.xvmconf) to C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res-mods\0.8.5\gui\flash\

5. Unzip/extract the xvm-stat.exe and xvm-stat-exe.config files from XVM stat 1.4.2 to your base WoT directory (i.e. with the WoT Launcher exe

6. Create a shortcut of the xvm-stat.exe file to your desktop. You will use this to launch the game.

Unfortunatly all those mods together look too cluttered for me, especially the minimap mod. So i cant use them all at once. But i may try few out.

Also Sela, what does the reticule look like from the outside? Is it different to sniper mode? Or the same? If its different and i dont like the arcade veiw reticule i may just take the sniper mode file since i have my own reticule mod whoch doesnt work in sniper mode...

I like your XVM config (namely the color chart, hit log placement, and the stats you chose to show in the player panel) but your 2nd tier player panel (the option with just player names, tank icon, and kills) is booped and doesn't show up for the enemy team. Any chance you could get that working if/when you update it to XVM 4.0.0? That's the only thing keeping me from using the config, my screen is only 1600x900 and cant comfortably display the full player panel without looking like someone came alphabet soup on my screen. That and using locastan's map instead of xvm's, but I'm pretty sure that part is easy to get around.

I haven't really looked into XVM's mini-map. Locastan's is/has been easier to edit the config settings. Plus you get cool looking icons.
