T49 -- Land Arty in a Bite-Size Package

Recommended Posts

Recently came back to the game and have lazily been continuing the T10 light grinds I left undone in 2015. I figured I'd get the Sheridan and sell the old derpie... after reading this thread I'm not so sure anymore.

Heh, took out the 49 after reading myself into a half chubby...

So any ideas on 5th skill for commander? Right now im rockin BIA, SS, Camo, Sit Awareness. Debating between repairs or recon.

Recon was my choice - generally if you're in a situation where the repairs skill matters you were probably already fucked anyways.

My Gunner and Loader are doing repairs as their fifth skills but that's because of the skills left, Designated Target on the Gunner is a Perk, Deadeye is worthless on an all HE/HEAT tank, and Firefighting is much like repairs in that if you need it you were fucked anyways, except with even less relevancy to most games.

Loader?  Boils down to "lmao, loader skills".  Adrenaline Rush isn't really worth it because if you're below 140 HP you've either fucked up supremely or the game's already over, and... see above for my rationale on Firefighting.

I do run Cola so there's an obvious argument to be made for Firefighting but it's not a good enough argument when the better argument is "just stop getting shot".

And just for completeness's sake, if I ever decide to blow mondo dosh on crew books or play another 2k+ games or whatever, my next skills for the other two crew are as follows:

Commander: Currently has the same skills as yours, plus working on Recon as previously mentioned.  After that, JoAT (the driver seems to be the most vulnerable crewmember but the gunner eats it a lot too) followed by Repairs, then FF, then maybe Eagle Eye for memes and everything else is trash/worthless by that point (lol Mentor on a 4+ skill crew of 4).

Driver: Currently has BiA, Smooth Ride, Concealment, Off-road Driving, working on Clutch Braking.  Next up will likely be Preventative Maintenance, then originally I was going to do Repairs but with the proliferation of light tanks and steely wheelymobileys, Controlled Impact is now a potential 7th skill option.

Yeah we pretty much have the same skills, although i did take Adrenaline Rush for no reason at all. At this point I have all the skills I need. Now  speaking of the lack of gifs in this thread....

[snip]

Jesus what was that guy even trying to do lmfao.

I did consider adrenaline rush since, again, Loader skills... but Intuition has given me a couple of good memes so I don't regret perking that and then taking Repairs as my fifth

Demounted: Equipment 'Coated Optics' was demounted from the vehicle. You have spent gold: 10.

Purchased: Equipment 'Experimental Optics' successfully purchased (1 item(s)). You spent bond: 4,000.

Equipment 'Experimental Optics' mounted on vehicle.

:disco:

with iVents (and Situational Awareness at 100) it'll be 537 but at that point i'm literally just minmaxing numbers because I can.

And just because i want to leave the thread on a positive note, have a gif.  I'm spoiled for choice in this one because I can either delete the Steyr or the 13 57 (or the 13 90, but he's already low HP) and since the 13 57 has more HP than the Steyr does... 13 57.

also autoaiming is for bads don't do it

Improved vertstabs worth it?

I haven't personally tried it yet (although I probably will be doing so with the bonds from this last Ranked Season).

However, from the discussion in here (on Pages 40-42 iirc), the Improved V-Stab is the most suggested piece of equipment for the T49.

Should've searched first. Thanks. Lots of good info there.

It clicks for 0-600 with non pens but will never pen anything. Keep in mind that is with prem HE, pleb HE does a bit less (type 5 situation all over again lol). 600 non-pens are disgusting but its inconsistent as hell and cant pen anything, and it still keeps the same accuracy. I highly doubt it'll be nearly as fun to play as now.

So, has anyone checked out the sandbox server for the changes to the T49? What's it like in the changes?

Do I get to quit this game forever?

The gun seems to disperse less on turret rotation or atleast it feels that way. As for the rest of the gun, on tanks with the old HE that I would've penned for 900+ damage i now do a solid 570. Same 200ish damage to heavies unless it's a super and the new 0 damage crits are painful. Things are even worse for the Derpidan...

RIP Derp Squad.

Changes to HE Shells
You quite rightly noted that the new mechanics of causing damage with HE shells did not become more understandable and predictable, which means that the implementation of this idea did not work as intended. Also, it was a mistake to remove penetration from the parameters of HE shells.

We wanted to rework not only the mechanics of causing damage with HE shells but also specific parameters of this shell type.

Players correctly noted the new mechanics of causing damage with HE shells were incomprehensible and unpredictable, which means the implementation of this idea did not achieve the desired effect. It was also a mistake to remove penetration from the HE shell parameters.
