Win rate inaccurate?

Recommended Posts

My math may be off, but according to my calculations

If a players play N number of games with a win rate of 40% and then plays an equal number (n x 2) win a win rate 50%.  His win rate will be 45%.  If he then plays (n x 3) at 50% his win rate will be 46.6 (rounded up to 47%).  Yet this player has spent 2/3 of his games at 50%.  If we take this to 4 times the number of games played at 50% his win  rate is 48% even though 80% of his games are at 50%!  Yes his recent win rate is a constant 50%, but this doesn't show in the xvm stats at the beginning of the game just his lower stats.  While this is true of his 'historical' stats it is not accurate when expected performance in a game.  Would it not make more sense to show the recent win rate to show his true expected performance in a game?

I've always been a fan of showing recent stats. (I have my xvm configured to show just that).

I don't care the E100 driver with 30k battles on my team used to be a noob the first 20k battles.  He might be still 800 rated because of it, but his recent is around 1.5 or whatever.  So I will see him in the list as a good player, which he is at this point.

In my own humble opinion it would also limit the number of rerolls.  I don't see the point of rerolling.  Clan retruiters are looking at recent rating (the good ones at least) more than at overall rating.  And if you do reroll to get into that top clan you want you get called a "reroll noob" and chances are you won't make it anyway because you need a minimum number of games, tanks, ...

I believe you have discovered the asymptote.

Also, last I heard there's no way to display recent performance in XVM.

Honestly I'm not sure what you're even trying to ask, but we have 1000 game stats for a reason.

You hypothetically could but it would be resource intensive.

What is that configuring of yours? I've been looking a bit after it but I haven't come up with anything, is it your own invention or is it something you could link? I would love to have that. (Further boost E-peen lol)

Are you sure about that?

Yep, it's something in the ratings.xs file you can adjust.  I'm not sure at the moment if I have my configured to show the stats of that specific tank or the last 60 days.  But in any case, the difference is marginal since that hypothetical E100 driver won't have been driving that tank for his entire WoT career :)

I'm currently at work so I can't tell you exactly the config changes, but I will do that tonight after my 9.4 mods setup.

It is per tank WN8.

That's why we have recent stats... I'm not sure what the point of this thread was?

Did you want to have recent stats displayed in xvm?  Because if so, not only is that not possible, but you would have found that out for yourself had you put any amount of effort into your inquiry.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+display+recent+stats+in+xvm

Clicking nearly any of the first few links (and sub lings) will bring you to the answer

I mean, please, this thread doesn't have to be created once every week.

This is why I wish xvm showed recent stats as last 1k battles or last 15% of total battles (whichever is more).

Indeed.  It's per tank.

Don't know if this has been done in some other thread already, but I said I would share my config, so here it is: https://app.box.com/s/uw3txy5dmejknw0di2rn

In the link you can find my config.  If you wish, you can copy these files to your xvm folder (probably rename the files you have now, so you can always go back easily).

I've got it set up so that the playername is showing the colour of his overall rating and the tank colour the rating of that player with that particular tank.
