My personal opinion if WG wants to keep the damage the way it is now:

Make arty much more accurate when fully aimed. However, the sigma will be adjusted so EVERY round hits a random spot on the edge of the circle. Nerf bloom values so that the circle size before aiming is similar to current size.

Unaimed snapshots (see pityfool's video) will now NEVER hit, but stationary campers will be punished far more. The only way moving targets will be hit is advanced pre-aiming, which is a legitimate skill

IMO an arty fix is simple. Make it accurate, but have basically zero splash and a ridiculously long shell travel time. That way, only the campers will ever have a chance to be hit, and the properly aggressive tanks won't get splashed for 700hp just because arty landed on their half of the map. Basically just AP arty with long travel times.

What l hate about arty is the massive splash damage it does and the snapshots , maybe fixing this would help idk much about arty since l never played it .

Arty currently has the same snapshot chance as any other vehicle, which pisses people off when they successfully so it.

Only reasonable solution would be arty free mode(like encounter, assault etc) And idgaf about their queue times. Wanna click on people like a bitch, wait for 15 mins to get the game. That would also give morons at WG somewhat idea what a lot of people think about arty.

Maybe. But to be honest, arty hitting me or splashing me more often isn't very comforting. I hate to use a tired metaphor, but it really is a case of turd sandwich vs giant douche.

Splash, the most annoying thing about arty ever. SS really needs to figure out what actually pisses us off. Unless he's giving low-armour tanks much higher splash resistance.

 

Remove the goddamned splash, make arty have E-50M level gun handling, and 10+ second shell travel time when firing by minimap (remove overhead view too). There, campers get punished, anyone getting TD moded is a case of "don't charge right at him, moron!" and skill is buffed.

 

Do you know what it means to hit an LT running at 90 degrees to you at full speed after 10-13 seconds of shell flight with a laser accurate weapon? You led him correctly. Current mechanics is LOL RNG TROLL U LT BASTERD.

We can´t repeat this often enough. He should finally stay out of any gamebalance etc stuff. Let him do the translation and the history stuff. There he is kind of good at. With the rest of the game he is not qualified enough to do so. And always this "it is good WG does not listen to unicums in terms of balance bla bla" Because they dont we have all kind of broken stuff ingame which needs several nerfes after the release. If you let stuff just test by freaking monkeys it is sure it wont be OP there.

How about the crazy thought that by nature no matter how you rebalance the aspects of arty it will always be annoying.

 

Changing the alpha, splash, reload, aim-time, bloom, travel time, and arc wont change a thing

The reason arty is annoying is because he can shoot you and you can't do anything to him but hide. In which case he just shoots someone else.

The only way to make arty less/not annoying is to make it that when they shoot you, depending on their skill you will be able to tactically kill them.

So let me get this straight.  SS expressing his opinion on his site is a great poast, but us expressing our opinion on our site is "cocky unica expressing rage?"

So he takes the low-skill RNG aspect of arty and improves it by giving it 100% hit chance no matter where you aim, and then throws in a bunch of arbitrary magic armour/magic pen rules for good measure.

 

This will go great with world of corridors.  Each side's heavies get funnelled into the chokepoint of their choice with 3 Arty per team "punishing campers" with no requirement to aim more accurately than a map square while the waffles remain unspotted at the back.

 

The scary part is he's actually serious.
