Super Pershing regains super?

Recommended Posts

I'm doing some research on the Super Pershings we've all grown to hate and have been pondering purchasing this tank, I am currently going down the T20 line as well as own a T69 and am wondering if it would be a worthwhile investment for my crew, what do you think?

-Do you own the Spershing?
-Did you purchase it pre or post nerf?
-If you did purchase it, why?
-Do you like/dislike & why?

* I bought one on my T95E2 alt.

* The purchase was post nerf.

* I bought it for grinding credits and free XP as well as training a crew for the Patton line. Plus I hadn't driven one yet, and I wanted to try it out.

* I'm a teal, but I get purple WN8 and win rate solo-pubbing in the spersh. So, naturally, I enjoy the tank.

There is a big thread on this tank that is still active with tons of good tips for getting the most out of it: .

Purchased it pre nerf as a crew trainer, armor was trolltastic.  Kept it and still run it as a crew trainer, it is a bucket full of meh now.  Not horrible, not good.  Little slow, but still has decent armor, can be argued it tries to be a heavium.  Makes decent credits which is a nice bonus when you are specificly running it as a trainer.

I would definately have a harder time buying at its current price now.  Fury might fill the crew training need and is definately more 'mediumish'.

- Yes

- post-nerf

- got it on the mission some time last year (was EU only iirc)

- It's alright for training crews I guess, armour can work sometimes but you have to spam gold to be competitive and it REALLY struggles when it's not top tier. Great for bullying pubbies with <200 pen.

However I strongly dislike it as a credit grinder because it falls far behind other 8s with all the necessary and expensive APCR spam.

If you have the money to spare go for it but expect to only ever be using it for that crew.

I bought one to complete my premium tank collection and for "fun". This was post-nerf.

I actually enjoyed the tank quite a bit.

Mobility of the tank was much better than what people had told me; speed on flat terrain was solid and you could easily reach 25~30 km/hr on your own. The only problem was any sort of climbing.

Armor of the tank was much better than expected despite the nerf. The spaced armor is great against HEAT and HE and will get you some funky 0 damage hits. Most players still forget that despite the weak upper and lower plate, pubs will still try to aim for the turret roof; this nullifies most issues with the tank as people still haven't adapted to penning the hull.

Gun was amazing. Good DPM, good accuracy, amazing APCR round with nice damage. Combined with a strong turret, the tank was solid at putting shots down range without much retaliation.

Overall a solid purchase. 10/10 would buy again.

I have both the Fury and SP. I think the SP is a better crew trainer simply because it makes a ton of credits and is pretty forgiving. Compared to the Fury which gets destroyed in tier 8 matches (like every tier 6).

^ SP is a much better tank than the fury since the fury does not get preferred MM and gets tier 8 matches on a regular basis . I enjoy the Fury but the SP has decent armor and a great gold round , though it is slow for a med

I bought it a long time ago pre nerf, would have sold it but I quit playing for a few months and that was when they did the whole gold refund thing and by the time I came back they wouldn't do it anymore so I was stuck with it and it gathered dust. Then I used to toon with a unicum friend (who has since rage quit WoT and plays WT planes mostly), he in his SP me in the KV5 and it gave me new appreciation for it. That was like an unstoppable combo, just RRR and collect the tears :) So I started playing it again and its not really that bad, still trolls pubs and keep moving and the main weak spot is not too easy to hit.

i bought it half-off on special, played a few games in it, got overtaken by a 100 tons KV-5 on flat ground and then rage sold that POS.

Love American Mediums, wanted a good trainer

LOVE!!! The gun is comfy, can still run a (small) profit spamming APCR. DPM is great, APCR is great. Mobility is just good enough. Can YOLO with IS6's. Armor is just good enough. Hull down baus, as long as you're always moving. Its a favorite of mine

Bought it post nerf, and although the tank is enjoyable at certain times, the majority of the time it feels more like a chore to play the tank.  Way to much work needs to be done with the tank to actually make it "viable" in a match IMO.  BUT.........

When the tank works, not even IS6 APCR spammers can stop it.

I just used mine for that cred event and OMG.....All slow US tanks need to have like 1.7 sec aim and low bloom and this one is shit.

Its like a T32 without the great turret, and with low alpha and bad gun handling.

Seriously this thing needs to feel like the E5 does. it needs gun handling like a Rus med seeing as its soooo slow and lacks most things.

I still think US med line might be best.

M4 is still fun to play as is Jumbo. T20 is fun. Pershing is pure sex and M46 is AMAZING and since it doesnt matter what T10 you get, just that its a t10 the T10 doesnt matter.

So IMO US med, US HVY [since it can use 90mm with gold for T29-T32 until unlock] Then M103 stock 120mm is badass, makes it easiest in game almost.

If I had money I would do French heavy as I`d FCM it till 50-100.

• Yeah, I own it.

• Got it pre-nerf

• I was gifted it by ForeverN00b.

• I love mine and it's even better now than it was before the change. You have to think to use the armor, but that's fine with me.

What do you mean "think" to use the armor? :O

I mean it won't work to the degree where you can just drive out, say HURR DURR U KIN CHUTE ME BUT IT NO HURT and expect to get away with it. It does work well enough if you taunt them into taking hasty shots, because your weaknesses are fairly small and easily hidden...and the gun aims fast enough that you need not remain motionless long enough to allow most enemies to aim carefully at you. Hasty shots at an SP tend to fail.

Hmmmmmmmmm, I went down the American Pershing line because it looked better than the Heavy line for me and now I don't know if I should get the Spershing for my t20 & t69 crew...

Post-Nerf

I bought the SP when I was reasonably new to the game. Less than 3k battles. I bought it because the friends that turned me on to the game wanted to play 'high tier' tanks and all I had were mostly tier 4/5s with maybe a tier 6 or 2. I was talked into buying it by someone whom I perceived to be a better player who had been away from WoT for quite awhile and was completely unaware they had nerfed the tank. He told me it was just as fast, armored and good as a Type 59. Basically, I was *that* guy who buys a tier 8 prem and has NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK HE'S DOING.

I hate the tank and regret the purchase. I am aware (now) of the common knowledge that new players shouldn't just buy and jump into a tier 8 prem without learning the game. Had I done that, I'm sure my expectations would be much better. My frustration with the tank stems from a myriad of things. The armor isn't bad, per se. The gun has low pen. Both of these things could be negated if the FUCKING THING DIDN'T WADDLE around the battlefield. It is, IMO, as immobile as the T34. The T34's turret is much better, only really having the cuploa weakspot. The T34s gun, while derpy, consistently pens what you hit and, generally, if you fully aim, you're going to hit. While I hate the T34s mobility, again, the SP isn't noticeably more mobile.

For money making purposes, I'd rather drive any number of tier 7 pref premiums, my T34, my FCM 50t (which I'm bad at) or my newly acquired WZ-111. I regularly try to dissuade friends mentioning interest in buying the SP. THE ONLY thing it has going for it is pref MM.

As a tomato pubbie (getting better!) I bought this tank post nerf, to grind credits and free xp. I personally think it feels pretty solid. I typically pen what I hit (I aim for weakspots with AP. it's not THAT bad imo), and the pref MM is really nice. Overall, it feels really solid to me, but I haven't exactly had any other experience in tier 8 tanks.

-Sold it when they said there were no longer plans to compensate the SP for the nerf.

-Purchased it before the nerf.

-It was my first Tier 8 premium, I bought it because I was starting the US Medium line at that point.

-Used to be an amazing assault tank- you could hold and push positions like no other tank in the game. Now its really not terribly good at anything- not fast enough to flank or wolfpack, not well-enough armored to push like a heavy, and the gun isn't good enough to stay back and support. Sort of the opposite of a jack-of-all-trades- it no longer has a defined purpose- its just bad-ish at everything.

* Yes.

* Post-nerf.

* Got it for free last spring.

* Love it for being a troll tank and one of my best moneymakers. It also helps to tame the yolo-beast in me.

*Yes.

*Post nerf.

*I take it for crew training, for preferential MM and because I want another tier VIII premium. I can’t stand to play over and over the same tank when I need money. For that reason I have so many.

*Only 66 battles on it with 51,52% WR. It is not bad at all and I like it so far. I started with gold ammo because the pen is lacking, but now I fire mostly AP on it.
