This tank is the worst vehicle in this game that I have ever played. The armor is 100% useless because of the massive crippling weakspots on top of the tank. The gun is weak for a tier 9 TD, and also derpy as fuck. 

The sides, roof, and rear are overmatchable, and basically an autopen for everything. They also take full damage from arty. Literally the only good thing about this tank is the mobility. 

 

I am so frustrated with this tank, as it's impossible to carry with it. Every potato 46%er knows to shoot you in the rangefinder. I honestly don't know how to foch. Pretty much every other tank that I've played has come easily to me except this one. I can barley manage to get 1500 damage per game in this tank. So please, anyone tell me how to foch.

My only input is that the only time a Foch is a respectable TD is when at range and in arty cover - and even then, thats only vs T7/8/9s, if you want that armour to work against T10s you need to also be above them. Pretty stupidly strict situation, but getting into it has got to be somewhere high on your priority list.

 

I honestly really liked the tank, but was lucky enough to play it before the final nerf that put a nail in the Foch/Foch 155's coffin. Still not entirely sure why they nerfed the AC 48 and T9 Foch.

I'm not a particularly good player, but I did the same after I saw the nerf to the Foch 155 - saw there was little point to playing it and ground other lines with USEFUL tier 10's.  Actually finished the Obj 268 grind to realize that the Obj 704 was better in many respects.

 

I hate to disparage a whole group of people, so I'll narrow it to the developers @ WG - "Why use a screwdriver to adjust a machine's settings when you can just bash it with a sledgehammer?"

I've gotten to the point where I understand that this vehicle cannot be driven in close combat. It only succeeds in long range fighting. The problem is that almost all the maps are corridors. 

One more thing that I've found is that when I play a more "traditional" TD playstyle of passive camping, my team will auto lose because there is nobody to carry them.

 

It seems to me that the entire french td line is one giant steaming turd.  (with the exception of the tier 5 bathtub ofc)

The French TDs got the nerfbat hard, alas. 

It was fair and coming the F155 was monstrous and it was so common. Not sure why the regular Foch needed such an epic beatdown. I still struggle to pen Fochs, shooting at the rangefinder which feels like it's actually a super powerful magnet which deflects shells sometimes.

It took me a long time to train myself to shoot the MG tumor instead of the rangefinder, but it's a much better target for lower pen tanks.

I've actually bounced a few shells off the MG as it has that 180mm lip of armor. On the other hand the rangefinder is made of wet cardboard.

WIGGLE.  WIGGLE LIKE YOU'RE AT A CLUB BOI.  Just that will help retain almost half your HP, throw off the aim of tanks.  Also try to play the tank as a 2nd line support tank.  I can do that relatively easily now in my 155, and it works like a charm.  Now granted the 155 actually packs rep with it so people are still hesitant to stay in front of it's gun compared to the t9 foch but I would recommend trying this tactic.

 

If all else fails.  3rd line sniper support

Well, the rangefinder is 180mm, and it also has a 180mm lip. The MG is only 100mm, much much easier to pen when you're floating around in your IS-6.

Wiggling against competent players will only lead to them getting en even easier pen by over matching your side armor. I do this all the time if frenchie TDs wiggle. Only do it if they obviously gun for your tumor or range finder.

Look on the bright side: It's no longer 1-shot by JPEs, it aims a bit faster (AC 48 post-manoeuvring aims slower with a GLD than my ISU which I was too cheap to put GLD on due to not being tier 9+, AC 48 made me break my rules of no equipment on non-keeper tier <8 non-arty due to sheer shittiness), and the front plate isn't easily penned by tier 9s anymore when RNG lets them hit it.

 

I'm finishing up AC 48 during French mission, seriously considering going ragemode in 50B or 155 51 instead due to how annoying that turd is. Whoever nerfed these two is the balancing genius who claimed waffle would be fine for anything other than gold/cash grab and who thought the FV4005-2 is a great tank. He is also an excellent teacher of anger management, because I don't think he wants his address known. I might be too cheap/lazy, but Russians would still go and take good care of him, veeerrrryyy good care.

Sooner or later you'll be loving its mediocrity and it will infect how you play... then when you finally finish the grind and get the 155 - prepare for an even bigger disappointment >_<  Plus even if you do earn more wins on this - you're only padding the stats on the thing so that WG would be less inclined to buff it. Imao everyone who owns this tank should play terribly and spike the stats so bad that WG would have to do something hehe /rant

I've actually played a ton of games on the foch 155 on the test server and really enjoy it. The 155 has massive burst damage which none of the other french tds have. I pray for the day that WG buffs the french td line as well as the object 268.

I gave up with 90k XP to go until unlocking the 155.... Just could not do it anymore. The constant losing and inability to carry all became too much for me. Unlocking the T30 sealed the tank's fate for me. I would play the T30, then get in the Foch... WTF. I could only play the Foch previously since I was also playing the Lorraine at that time. DARK days for me in WoT, but I only knew pain and suffering. Now I see the light though. 

 

The only issue with dancing: you have to wait for your horrid aim time/bloom to settle down when it is your time to fire. Damned if you do (you do have to), damned if you don't. 

 

PS: the WN8 values need to be looked into on this piece of shit tank. Expected damage is higher than for the T30..... how? I get the feeling they were never updated to reflect how utterly shit the tank is today.

No stats are updated to reflect nerfs (or buffs).  They will adjust some over time based on game play (as more post-nerf games are played they will shift the expected), but there isn't any manual adjustment.

 

Adjusting for buffs or nerfs explicitly would throw a lot of accounts out of whack due to games played prior to changes.  There isn't a good fix for it, other than slow adjustments over time.

I don't know if it's the new MM but I started playing it back again to grind the crew for the buffs and it has worked amazingly for me. I don't even understand why. The armor only works above 200m and the gun only works under 200m since the gun arc, shit gun stats and slow shell mean it's horrible for sniping. The thing is pubbies really forgot how to shoot this thing and since everyone knows it is shit it gets ignored most of the time when spotted. My playstyle is play like a TD only for the first few minutes then locate a flank with tanks that are either lower trier or have low DPM and can be isolated. The tank has the speed to do it. While it's not a tank that can get OMGWTF dark purple results my recent games give me 2900dpg which for a 55-56% shitter runing a tank without 5th sense and 80% repairs is really good.

I'm a horrible person who deals in account for some extra cash. My current account has no e50. Also I just wanted to get a crew before buffs come. That plus I really like my marks to grow exponentially and the requirements for this must be really low.

Ok. Small update. Had a few games with worse maps and the tank got shit again. It should have way more DPM or better gun arc, dep and stats and a faster shell. It sucks at sniping so the best way to play it is around 200m or to bully tanks that you kill before they kill you. I hoped I will 2 mark it since I went from 60% to 80% in my shitter account but without even 6th sense my progress stopped at 80% when i finished the grind
