Kiwi. 637 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I shitpost most of the time so I decided heck I'll do something a bit more serious as practice. I'll try to keep this thread somewhat professional. Introduction: The Su-85i is a Soviet tier 5 premium tank destroyer. Unlike it's infamous cousin the SU-76i it was at least kept on the market and actually advertised so more people could be aware of its arrival. It was released in 0.9.0 and was available for purchase in-game in 0.9.2. Here's the majestic beauty as it sits in my garage: It's gun: The regular SU-85 also has access to the same gun, but I usually see SU-85 players with the tier VII 85mm gun. My current stats in this monster (all solo so far): I'm not satisfied. I feel I'm not dishing out enough dpg. Also winrate is on the low side. The Challenge: ~72 more games in this tank destroyer all solo ~dpg at least 1200 ~WR of 75% ~pretty much it Current setup: This is my SU-122-44 crew. First set of skills: Recon, Deadeye, Off-road driving, Camouflage (not sure if this was a good setup but seems to work anyway) Gun rammer (put that shit on everything), Coated Optics (works will with the Recon skill apparently), GLD (aim time without GLD is 2.3 which is the same as Churchill 3 for example) Yeah 20 APCR looks excessive but heck I don't care if I'm a premium round spamming noob. Med Kit, Extinguisher, Repair kit (this is my setup for most things unless you want to chance removing extinguisher for something like Extra Combat rations) Also put camouflage on tank destroyers. I feel like puking whenever I don't see camo on something that requires stealth. *Note* I play whenever I feel like it. I'm in my second semester at Uni so I'll play a few games here and there. No set amount of games in a session. I'll try to post screenshots of game stats. "TL;DR" Victrix and kolni

Pyr0freak 81 Share Posted January 8, 2015 I approve of dis challenge. Would love an extensive review of the tank after your games are complete. Already read Garbad's review but he's hardly a TD and a Tier 5 player, not to mention he had very little games in it.
Kiwi. 637 Author Share Posted January 8, 2015 I approve of dis challenge. Would love an extensive review of the tank after your games are complete. Already read Garbad's review but he's hardly a TD and a Tier 5 player, not to mention he had very little games in it. I should be online this weekend to play a few games in it. Barely have any time to play anymore. I played 1 battle in it this week (29th battle) and the within the first 2 minutes I had to shut down WoT cause parents don't want me playing. Only got 2 shots off and no kills so rip stats on that battle. The battle was won however... What I can tell you at this point is that in a tier 5 battle the SU-85i dominates. In a tier 6 battle it starts losing effectiveness. One of my memorable battles is the 18th battle on abbey where I got a radley medal. Was top tier on Abbey where I camped near base. The good thing about that specific map is that mid on that map is pretty easy to snipe down from South spawn. Often times the enemy team will try to rush down 5 line to try and dominate the mid. So I go the green point on the left to start. An enemy rush down 6 line is retarded so I'll move there next if I see that's where they are coming from. 6 of my kills that game was just from camping back near base. The other 2 came from pushing down 8 line in the later portion of the game to kill the arty and Archer. All I can say is it's a tank you don't want to rush a battle in. Just analyze how the battle is playing out first.
Victrix 2,299 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Should I make a BTSV 100 games plat only challenge to rival this? I think yes.
Kiwi. 637 Author Share Posted January 8, 2015 Should I make a BTSV 100 games plat only challenge to rival this? I think yes. Do you even WoT bro? I played T-127 all solo for like 100 games and achieved 75% winrate. It's like 69% now because I stopped giving a shit after a hundred games, but too damn easy. Then again.. T-127 and BT-SV are not the same tank, but both get same matchmaking.

BTSV is like a battering ram that is hella faster, and less manuverable with very good about and exactly the same gun.

Kiwi. 637 Author Share Posted January 8, 2015 Sp in your opinion is the su85 or su12244 better for ther tiers ? Both are solid tanks. Well I got off on the wrong start with the 122-44. Played it like a shitlord and continue to do so. su-122-44 does not receive pref mm so it can be subject to tier 9 violence. same penetration as an is6 so it will need premium ammo when in higher tier battles. that's for sure. i found that the 122-44 is hard to play solo. too team dependent. with the su-85i it can be fairly easy to carry the team. i think it comes down to the fact that 122-44 does not have pref mm. however in a tier 7 or 8 battle the 122-44 dominates. it's super amazing. anything above that it just lacks the ability to carry from what i've experienced. but i think the su-85i is better for its tier. either that or it's because when i played the 122-44 the teams were trash. i saw heavies going med positions almost every battle. i saw a lot of weird shit when i played the 122-44. i even gave up and tooned the 122-44 with blunicum players. even then i just got unlucky with the tank. Do you own a Su76? How much is it better in its tier? Also is the 85mm considered goood alpha for its tier? The reason the su 12244 really shined wass its massive 390 alpha at t7. At t7 390 Alpha is very similar to having the 704`s gun at t9. I mean think of all the T5-6`s it 2 shots and things like Hellcats...Forget it. But after the TD nerf and map changes I wont use it as it brings my Wn8 down tons as it was way way OP. The Su85 seems like it never got a chance in the TD`s hayday.
Pyr0freak 81 Share Posted January 9, 2015 SU-122-44 is pretty damn ridonculous because it can be played as an assault gun. I highly doubt the SU-85i is the SU-122-44 of Tier 5, simply because it lacks the armor, and the gameplay of Tier 5 is much faster-paced than Tier 7, with some games ending in under 2 minutes as you watch your entire flock of lemmings collapse to a platoon of T67s. SirKnumskull 260 Share Posted January 9, 2015 The SU-85i is a regular SU-85 minus the best gun plus some viewrange. Not even close to the OPness of the 122-44.
Kiwi. 637 Author Share Posted January 9, 2015 The SU-85i is a regular SU-85 minus the best gun plus some viewrange. Not even close to the OPness of the 122-44. You have to remember that Su-85 doesn't receive pref mm so it obviously needs it's top gun lol. When Su-85i gets in t5 and 6 battles it's gun is sufficient enough because it will keep dishing rounds out with the better fire rate. And idiots at those tiers keep sitting out there for you to repeatedly hit them. To fix viewrange even more I put optics. So I'll sit somewhere where I'm not in trouble and snipe away. SU-122-44 is pretty damn ridonculous because it can be played as an assault gun. No td really has good armor at that tier other than the AT2 which is crap other than the fact of its op armor with it's shitty weakspots. So obviously 122-44 because it sees higher tiers it obviously needs something that can have the occasional bounce, but its armor really doesn't mean anything when you're shooting gold at it anyway and seeing tier 8+ battles. I agree that lower tier gameplay is generally faster, but the kinds of shit I've seen at higher tier gameplay forget that argument. There's idiots in every tier. You just have to adapt to every game. +1 thx so much man. Do you own a Su76? How much is it better in its tier? Also is the 85mm considered goood alpha for its tier? The reason the su 12244 really shined wass its massive 390 alpha at t7. At t7 390 Alpha is very similar to having the 704`s gun at t9. The Su85 seems like it never got a chance in the TD`s hayday. I do not own an SU-76i. There's a reason it got pulled from the shop so quickly. It's damn op and sees up to tier 4s lol. Also the 122-44 is great with its alpha. And yeah it shines when it's top tier especially. The the alpha of the SU-85i is not the best but you have to remember it shoots pretty damn quick too. One shot does 160 average damage. so repeated shots at dumb pubbies... means alpha doesn't really mean a thing at those tiers and you will see tier 4s and 3s as well.
