Man, I knew ethanol production was awful, but causing stress on the server to boot.  It's gone.

Also I'm going to take my nether chunk loader out.  It's in a nether fortress, which is dumb.  I can make an area above the nether with a glass floor and well lit and breed my bees right below where I intend to put my pig zombie farm.

TIL accidentally placing Industrial TNT on the ground instead of clicking it into a JABBA barrel sets it to blow up.  I also rebuilt my base again(significantly smaller crater this time).

I may have broken something.  I placed down a RailCraft Trade station nearby my villager collection and got booted from the server.  I can't reconnect.

Yeah, that's what happens to me as well any time I tried to connect :(

Blakk, I hooked you up with an Attuned Princess and drone in the double chest by your bed.  If you happen to have any Steadfast bees I'd appreciate a few drones :)

I'm sorry, that was my mistake, but thanks for pointing it out or I would have spent a lot longer trying to figure out why the hell I wasn't able to connect either :P

Multicraft seems to be broken so I can't restart the server until they fix it... rip

I was just about to "open the eye" or open the eldrich portal too :/

The host was hacked :/

At best we didn't lose anything, most reasonably we'll get a backup from last night. At absolute worst I have a backup of dlurs house from about 4 days ago but a backup of everywhere else from a month ago :/

It would actually be a bit more than a week ago... when I fixed your problem with the trade station...

Unfortunately idk whats happening... as of now the host's site is completely offline, which is a worse state than it was a few hours ago.

This is what I get for paying $2.25/gb which is absurd and too good to last I guess

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I really don't want to start over again, although if I did, I think I would choose a different modpack that was more friendly to the average user.

The big problem right now is my lack of backups. Yes its good practice to download the server files nightly or even weekly, but the server was very large, and the ftp link was very slow. I was also assured by the hosting company and by all the positive reviews that their backup services where some of the best. I was lied to.

Outside of the hosts backups, our server was being backed up server-side, every 30 minuets by aroma and every hour by the multicraft panel. That type of backup is good for anything that could possibly happen to the server, except absolute loss of the host.

I could change hosts, go to something a bit more expensive, and upload the world as it was one month ago, plus dlur's house as it was 1 week ago. Unfortunately all playerdata is still 1 month old, so anything in your inventory, including armor, and any thaumcraft research done in the past month would be lost. I backed up my thamucraft file a few hours before the host crashed (right before I started obtaining warp), so that could be used as a base, everything except warp magics were researched.

or

I could change hosts and find a modpack that's a lot more friendly to the average user; Like FTB resurrection, that only adds to minecraft, rather than hurting you for not being advanced. Then we could start over with a better knowledge of how gregtech works, but on a modpack that doesn't stress gregtech as much.

or

I could save myself the time, effort, and monetary loss of finding a new host, and doing one of the above. We were on the verge of entering end game, and I would call that a win. We beat a hardcore gregtech modpack, which is a feat in itself. The only things left to do were to set up even more complex automation systems that the server was already stressing to handle. Looking back, this is what happens to EVERY minecraft server eventually. The world gets wiped for one reason or another and everybody just starts over or stops playing for another few or several months, then gets a minecraft itch again. With minecraft always updating, there are very, very few cases where a server has never wiped a world. I still feel terrible about it, but meh, maybe taking another break from minecraft is a good thing.

Edit: I still haven't gotten word from the host that all the files are truly lost, but it would seem that way, and they seem very, very slow to recover from this. All server data and their backups are lost.

Yeah, I mean we were 1 or 2 days away from having a steady supply of Naquadah, that's about as end game as it gets in GT.  My only lament is that I didn't get to built a super cool AE2 ME network with auto crafting and such, but it's all good.  It's spring now and I was probably going to quit playing in a week or two anyways in favor of not being on the computer all day and night.

Maybe next fall we can give InfiTech-R a go when GT 6 comes out and I'm no longer enjoying being outside all day.  GG it was fun!

Absolutely, I'd be willing to host another server next fall. Maybe by then I can fork a little more money into it as well. Idk about infiTech again, as fun as the challenge is, its also fun to play with more people on the server, though even last time in vanilla MC it was really just down to you and I playing, so the general Wotlabs userbase falls off pretty early when it comes to minecraft. In that case it would be best to just pick whatever will be most fun for us xD

Note that this is the exact reason I wasn't willing to accept donations... this always seems to happen and then I would feel really bad for donors... as it goes, I could care less about the few bucks I lost.

I lost most of my gear from a bugged tombstone which put me off for a few days and i drifting to other games. GTech has some cool stuff but there's too much tediousness for the sake of being tedious, which makes playing it it more of a chore than a challenge.

Do you still play on that server?

I play minecraft for about 3 years and through my gamer life can say that this game becomes the favorite one and I never feel bored while playing in it. I would be very pleased if you would join my server and have fun together.
