OOPMan 1,266 Share Posted February 6, 2015 So, it seems WG finally got sick of Persha and shitcanned them: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2015/02/06/wargaming-disbands-warplanes-dev-studio-fires-staff/ Anyone think there's a chance this could mean big and hopefully good changes for WoWP? shwedor and omglaserspewpew 1
Constie 1,350 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Honestly i think WoWP will not recover from how bad it started and how bad the current state of it is.
OOPMan 1,266 Author Share Posted February 6, 2015 Honestly i think WoWP will not recover from how bad it started and how bad the current state of it is. I agree, but as someone that put some money into it I would love it if they did manage to recuperate it :-)
Pocktio 730 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I've never bothered to try or investigate this. What exactly went so horribly wrong with it?
shwedor 402 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Good, now if they could just shitcan WGNA's Community folks and invest a bit in getting WoWP to a playable state they may just win some players back. OOPMan
Constie 1,350 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I've never bothered to try or investigate this. What exactly went so horribly wrong with it? The maps are rly small, so there is no fun at all when the battles are finished quickly. There is "one main class", it doesn't matter if you are in a light or heavy fighter or in an assault plane. You just have to shoot the enemy down, e.g no real gameplay (World of Tanks has scouts which have a role which they can fulfill; scouting) There are no bombers, but there are ground targets. Ok, last time i played WoWP was a bit ago, so its seems there are bombers now. Just my opinion what i dislike roughly.
omglaserspewpew 1 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Come on, read the news more carefully, you got clickbaited by SS. WoWp part of the studio is unaffected. The closed part is Kharkov division, which wasn't working on WoWp anyway (except some web stuff).
Brad 106 Share Posted February 6, 2015 What were the rumours coming out about WG EU on 'that other site', anything substantial, or just gossip and rumour?

Small maps are great, it makes the game fast and furious. As for classes, who gives a shit, the game is about flying knifefights. GA is cancer. IAmA_Tank_AMA 106 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Do people actually play this game?
Captain_F22ACE 77 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Do people actually play this game? Contrary to popular belief, people still do play it; just like the people still play WoT for fun. However, it was the web dept. that got canned, not the WoWP/WoTG dev teams since they're in Kiev. The Kiev office is the one that needs canned, and why the hell are you taking anything SS posts as gospel? OOPMan and Tranderas
Tman450 210 Share Posted February 6, 2015 If it ever gets better, I might actually play it again.
Levenbrech 54 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I haven’t played WoWP in about two weeks due to work. Really trying to decide if I should continue to play WoWP’s as it does not appear to me that this game will ever recover Imho. May be looking to get back into tanks…
RealBattousai 248 Share Posted February 6, 2015 With AW looking like it’s going to be pretty good, maybe what WG needs to do is scrap WoWP, and make WoMWP…M being for modern as in more recent fighters etc. Watching the Jordanian F16s taking it to ISIS makes me long for a good flight sim like of old such as Falcon 4 if anyone played that back in the day. RutgerS 2,585 Share Posted February 7, 2015 With the current "succes", I doubt they are making a profit anyway. So their time is running out.

It's called WoT welfare...... err I mean financial support. Of course, a lot of it is just management anyways, which means WGHQ is part of the problem and needs cleaned out too. Yes, but don't tell me they'll keep some division on life support if there's no plan to get it back on track?
omglaserspewpew 1 Share Posted February 8, 2015 As far as EU and Russian servers go, they said they're making a profit. Whether it's a sensible one to keep the business running, is another matter.
canadiantrex 2,621 Share Posted February 8, 2015 As far as EU and Russian servers go, they said they're making a profit. Whether it's a sensible one to keep the business running, is another matter. It's not just about WoWP making a profit or not. It's also about keeping the customer's faith in the brand. With WoWS about to go into open beta soon (I assume?), Wargaming probably doesn't wanna be seen killing off one of their 3 major products so soon after release. Would probably hurt their bottom line a lot more than just keeping it on life support.

I'd like to see some actual data to back that up because it's easy to claim they're making money when in reality they're not...
Triggered 23 Share Posted February 8, 2015 If you prefer tanks play World of Tanks. If you prefer planes play War Thunder. WoWP is meh. WT:GF is meh. They should probably have stuck to what they each do best, but I guess they are racing to have the first MMO with combined land air and sea battles, my money would be on Gaijin doing it better. But by then AW will be out and unless it totally sucks I will be playing that. Constie
