cant view 9.5 replays in 9.6 - anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Title says it, i cant view replays from 9.5 in new 9.6 client.

i have two installs, one EU, one NA, both updated to 9.6.  Eu one has no mods, NA has a lot of mods.

i was told theres a way to download the old 9.5 client from FTR to quickly solve this, but ive googled the crap and i cant find it.

1) is anyone else unable to view 9.5 in 9.6 or just me?

2) it doesnt work if use the NA 9.6 w mods, or the Eu 9.6 vanilla to launch it.

when i say "it doesnt work", i mean the client launches, i get a warning that it is imcompatible and am i really sure i wanna watch it.  i click yes.  i think get a loading screen for that map, but all 30 player slots are empty, and it is frozen.  there is no way to shut it down other than launching task manager and killing the process.

i have some replays of a wz-11 completing ht-15, and a 13k spotting light.  i really want to see these.

does anyone have advice on either getting them to work, a way to download a 9.5 client, or some web site i dont know about that turns replay files into vid files??

This has happened for almost every update since I can remember (2? years for me). Only way to bypass it is to get the previous client.

Always that way when there's a version change.  Client changes, aspects of the game change, client is meant to process a different data stream and can't handle the old data...

I know it's WG but fuck me, why can't they make a sustainable fix for this shit ? save the replay in a compatible format that is viewable by most common standards, like MKV, youtube format.

Yea it's kinda annoying, but the thing is imagine if they did save the replay files as mkv/mp4 or what ever files, within a few days the folder would be huge! For some people, their computers memory would be gone in a week. It's just the lesser of 2 evils  :P

Can _Boris please change picture?! I think you're Pocktio everytime I see you poast QQ

That english is terrible lmao xD "Can you please change (that, you're) picture Boris?" but if someone currently has this picture, my bad, I'll change it ^^

No they cannot. Research your shit before you start talking shit.

Go look at the replay size first? What do you notice? it's usually around 1mb.

Why? Because in the replay only actions from the battle are recorded. Once you open up the replay all those actions are performed by the client so you can view the replay.

If wargaming was to have to record replays in one of your suggested formats, they would have to implement actual recording during the battle. Not only would this decrease performance while playing but it would also use up a lot of storage in your replays folder.

Heaven forbid that WG wanted to do something to help us out, why not provide a central website to replay the shit then? any options is better then downloading and maintaining dozens of WOT versions which is fucking retarded...
