Gonna be staying up late tonight then, I guess.

Tempted to pull a latie and say fuck it to work, be hella tired and grumpy gus.

Alas I foolishly booked a lovely dinner with the gf tomorrow so I can't even play then? OR I go to sleep early today, hit work up at maximum earliness to leave at maximum earliness and play maybe up to 2 hours...hmmm.

All blur and AA going off, same with DoF probably. Gonna try and squeeze as much out of that game with my 670 as I can, turning off post-processing is gonna help with juicing higher settings.

One and a half hours to go!! Very hyped!

I'm not working full-time at the moment, so guess what? No work for me today! =D  Going to be playing this pretty much all day!

Seems that after the first patch, PC performance took a hit (although apparently it has come from activating a bunch of graphical settings that were either turned off or non-functioning previously). My 760 still looks okay for mid-to-high settings, but I will absolutely be turning off some of those post processing stuff (blur absolutely is going off, I can't stand that stuff, particularly the motion blur) so hope to still make the game look very pretty.

Damn I'm excited, I don't know what to do with myself for the next couple of hours!

Here is a nice guide ot many graphical settings and what they affect. It is intended for Nvidia users but the descriptions and tips are helpful for anyone looking to fine tune their graphics

Kind of been doing that the last week already...

@Pravdy: thanks, that's quite useful.

Confirmed it makes my GPU cry. Getting around 35-40 FPS on average with everything set to high minus all post processing. Also, unless you have a beefy Nvidia card, do not turn on Hair Works. Even having it on for Geralt only fucking tanked my FPS to like 15.

Need to get another 290x for xfire, because cinematic 24fps at 4k is sucks lol :D

Running with most settings mixed on mid and some high, with most post-processing stuff also turned off. Runs very smoothly and given I'm not fussed by graphics quality, to me it still looks great. Had 3 random freezes though that required a task manager kill, wondering if it's instability from the new drivers, hope that will be patched out. So far, enjoying it. Combat is pretty unforgiving on hard (second highest difficulty), getting used to the controls still as well though so should improve.

It definitely was, yea. That first ghoul fight kicked my ass on hard. Looks like first playthrough is gonna be on normal.

I've almost finished the tutorial area. Killed a few enemies higher level, although that's pretty easy because I'm still only level 2...

I'm liking the combat. It's brutally difficult in that if you don't play it smart, time your dodges and parries etc, you'll get absolutely wrecked, especially when fighting several enemies at once. However, when you get it right...man, the feeling is sweet. Sticking it out on hard difficulty for now, I'm enjoying the challenge.

Damn, this game is beautiful. Time is zipping by while playing it.

Game is a ton of fun so far, fights can be a bitch on hard but as others have said when you get it right it looks and feels amazing. I have it maxed out with motion blur and AA off and it looks fantastic and runs smooth. Preformance will only get better as it gets patched and better drivers come out. Probably commen sense but avoid the steam discussions, nearly gave me cancer with all the bullshit posted. People are literally claiming this is the worst game ever because of thier own personal nit picks. Qeez gamers have turned into a bunch of spoiled whiney fuckwits, they are as bad as the console gamers they make fun of now.

Side note, just noticed I have Pocktio on my Steam friends list back from the old Relic forum days when we all posted Steam names for Dawn of War buddies. God that was a long time ago.

So, I'm playing on Blood/Bone Level.

Is everyone else walking around with 100 Potatoes?  Or am I missing a better solution?

I found a neat guide

Yeah, you should see how badly CDPR's official forums have degraded over the last few weeks as well. I lurked there for at least the past year during development and generally it's quite a mature community willing to discuss a lot of things. Then, as the game got closer to release, this whole group of 'downgrade' people started huge flamewars, including some who seemed to be constantly making new accounts to spam the forums. It's been a bit crazy. I can't max out settings (not even close) but I still think the game looks great (ok, the pop-in is a little distracting at times and the foliage can be a bit flat up close, but it really doesn't bother me that much). It plays smooth and the atmosphere is spot on, so I'm loving it.

@Nightmare: I'm on the same difficulty, and no, not found any other solution other than hording any and all food that I find. I actually quite like it. It makes you treat each battle as significant as if you take too much damage it can be a pain to recover your health, but it's not as restrictive as DA:I given that you can actually loot sources of recovering health, so that you're not constantly fast-travelling back to base to refill potions.

Haha I laugh at the puny people whinging about downgrades. Whinge away, I'm going to continue enjoying this stunningly gorgeous game that oozes quality from every orifice.

Truly a stupendous game, worthy of any RPG fan's collection.

Hmmm hmm so fucking good.

Running smooth with no technical issues on at mostly ultra settings. Only got some weird shit I never heard of turned off. Nvidia multiframe sampled AA? Hairworks?

The "downgrade" crowd is frickin ridiculous. Graphics are still amazing and high quality, they are just butt hurt over a different color palete and a few lowered settings (Probably can be redone through INI editing anyways) then what was seen in pre release videos. These people have no idea how developing a game works and it's very well possible the early settings were highly unstable and not sutable for release. The whole argeument is a bit ironic when you throw in the people saying the game is too deamnding for their "capable" system. This whole debacle is evidence of one thing, the PC vs console shit has to go, it's becoming too toxic and stands to hurt the industry more then benefit it. CDProjekt is an awesome developer and it sucks to see their reputation being shit on by a butthurt vocal group with unrealistic standards.

Yea, Hairworks is hitting my FPS pretty hard, decided to turn it off because its most of the time 10-15fps which i lose.

Edit: Anyone else addicted to Gwent? I WANT ALL DAH CARDS :^)
