First impressions of Leningrad

Its a Kiev with one less gun, that are slower to traverse, but has wayyyyy better concealment, torps that you can use and is even faster

BTW, its strait up better then the Sims in my opinion. Much better at gunboating, same stealth and far far better torpedoes, only thing is the Soviet 420 blaze-it is worse.

It's gud, very very gud. The speed is so nice. It pretty much lets you dictate the distance at which you will fight an engagement as long as you don't let yourself get pinned against an island or the map border. When combined with the decent detection range it has you can also readily decide when you wish to disengage an enemy.

I loved the Kiev so I bought the prem camo and now I have zero interest in paying again for a less OP Gremy at tier VII - even though the Leningrad may well be the best tier VII prem should that tier play a role in ranked ever again.

Would have loved it if they made the Leni tier VIII...

- Shit gun traverse (and angles)

-Shit turning radius

-Speed that is needed because of shit camo

-shit camo (Can't/or barely blind fire w/o smoke = shit)

-Not a blysk

- Big

- Meh range

- Shit HE dmg

- Its a destroyer, Honestly they are only good because you get 4-5 per team, alone they are worst then a female stripper at a gay bar.

For what ?

- AP that works at tier 5 but is almost never used at tier 7 

- Flat arc 

- Speed ( Like the speed does anything when you turn around like a shit in plumbing)

I have played a few games with the Leningrad. The bad is only the turret traverse. I have the module to upgrade turret traverse as well as the captains skill. So the traverse and angles are ok, but not great. (middle turret is main issue) You can run rings around a Sims doing a circle of death and kill it (I did it yesterday). The large turning circle isn't as bad as you would think. With aft the 13.9 km firing range is very usable. It is a fun ship and pretty balanced. The big plus is with SE speced you have 18k hp. That is very usable.

Has better camo then Blyska, on par with Sims, only the IJN DD is better, but then you remember it the Hatsu, which is worse... at just being a ship

5 cits yesterday on Myoko, gets very nice AP hits on anything not angled

I just hope that within the next 5 prem ships we will see one Benson/Fletcher clone at tier VIII. The amount of russki prem ships in the game is nothing short of stupid.

I find the Leningrad unexciting (but I have a Gremy). For a zippy gunboat I would prefer the Kiev with MUCH better firing arcs and a usable turret traverse. I have killed my share of Lemmingrads in my Kiev. For a hybrid I would prefer Mahan, much better dpm up close, great torps, some camo.

I even deleted a Leni in my Farragut when I surprised him at 5km. The time it took for him to turn the ship and the turrets he was at 30% health from nearly full...

I'm not interested in the lenin because I have the gremy. I see no reason to play a similar ship uptiered. I also have a sims, and I will admit that it's not a great ship, it does work. However, at tier 7 I would rather play my scharnhorst or pensacola than DDs.

I'd definitely be interested in a high tier US DD premium. I did notice that there was a listing in the game Wiki for a USS Black (DD-666) Dunno what WG's intentions are for that ship...

its a tier IX (Fletcher class), most likely a reward or clan wars prize. There is also a tier X USN heavy cruiser, i think it the Buffalo, been there since beta

also the 130mm is a little overhyped in AP penetration. Since by tier 7 a lot of cruisers start packing on decent belt armor (hell even Pensacola gets decent armor, at least compared to Omaha) this starts to look pretty inadequate:
